The best restaurants serving British food in Micklegate York Yorkshire and The Humber

Most of the food was nice but with some strangely under seasoned exceptions. Potato pancakes tasted of nothing. The service needs improvement for the price.

Oh my word. After being to visit a friend in Helmsley I made my annual stop off in York to see my dear old brother. We went for dinner here at Legacy, and it is a triumph. Wonderful food, wonderful staff, wonderful drinks - wow. Just wow.

Went for fabulous afternoon tea...service was brilliant.... the day before when I called to confirm Ben couldn't have been more helpful and the team were all lovely on the day. Had a great table and all the food was terrific too!

My mum had the todays special which one of the chefs made today my mum loved every minute and bite even wanted more to take home because it was that good definitely 100% my mum would have it again and 100% recommend it 😊

Hotel is amazing! Wanted to also treat my parents to afternoon tea for her 85th birthday. It cost over £150 for 4 and it was ok. The staff seemed bothered and a bit snooty when you asked for anything. Also the savoury choice wasn’t great, scones tiny and cakes ok. We had a nice time but just not as good as I’d hoped. But if you are staying at the hotel that is lovely!

We booked in advance for the 9 course tasting meal and it did not disappoint except perhaps for the asparagus! It was well balanced and can be held up high with many Michelin starred restaurants. The service was very good with each course well explained. We shared the wine paring as it would have been too much wine for us. The tables are well apart from each other. Enjoyed the amuse bouche too. Would recommend.

unassuming local pub with excellent food & very friendly people. Very reasonable prices & decent portions as well. We were in a caravan park a mile up the road & went midweek for dinner. No hesitation in recommending this one and we will be returning on our next trip.

I agree with the other reviews that the food is excellent, however, I felt that the service we were given was a lot cooler than that given to those who are obviously regulars. This left us feeling quite uncomfortable and as though we were imposing upon them.

This is a little gem of a place. The food is first class and the service is perfect. Understandably, the restaurant/cafe was busy. If you want a good meal for a good price, this is the eatery you need to visit.

What a lovely green space! The people of York are lucky to have this so close to the city centre! Great park with lake and tennis courts and a playground for children. Great walks from there down the river too!
