A gem of a pub , lovely decor with amazing drinks choice (around 15 different ales when we were there). Added bonus with it being sited in one of the nicest train stations around, although accessible from outside the station.

What a gem and greets you immediately upon arrival in York (by train). The selection is vast and it’s all quality. Four Timothy Taylor’s cask handles alone! I haven’t seen that many outside of one of their own pubs. Went for a Knowle Spring. Prices are great. A warm welcome to York if you’re up for a pint or two. Or a great send off from York. Also, considering it’s inside a train station, the exterior and interior are gorgeous. Rustic yet modern yet very much in a train station. If I was local, I’d come here often, a stellar spot!

Lovely old part of original York Station, incidentally for a period of time a model railway layout as an a paid for attraction. I think originally built as the ‘tea rooms’ On my visit today fully appreciated the range of beers available, and my glass or two of stout was excellent and not always available in a number of establishments. Having just returned from a holiday in Kenya, sadly has reminded me that uk customer service could be a little more friendly, a maybe with a smile. Also don’t understand why empty bottles have to be thrown into a container with the resulting noise. Prices are a little on the high side, but this is sadly typical in all tourist cities. Having made my observations as a resident of York, yes, will return as this venue has a pleasant atmosphere and many original features from Victorian railway era.

One of the few benefits of train travel these days is the ability to stop off at the York Tap on my way up north. Amazing selection of beers in a pub that puts many others to shame. Coffe is good too I hear. Sometimes I wish the trains were even more delayed so I can stay longer!

First trip to York in 5 years. Been to this pub several times since it opened Great location at York Railway station and superb range of real ales. A very attractive building with a circular central bar lined with handpumps. Outside covered seating on the platform side. Forty plus years ago it was said York has a pub for every day of the year. Tried my best to do them all. Many now gone but also lots of new places to drink. A great City to visit for many reasons. Jorvic is named after here, the old Viking city name. Not sure where Paulicarus gets his name. Only time for a very drinkable half of Helmsley brewery bitter. A new one to me.

York Tap, situated conveniently next to the train station in York, England, presents an appealing façade that captures the attention of passers-by and travellers alike. The exterior of the pub exudes a certain charm, inviting guests to step inside and explore its offerings. Upon entering, one can't help but notice the hints of the pub's former grandeur. The interior, though bearing signs of a bygone era of elegance, still retains an atmosphere that is both intriguing and welcoming. This blend of the old and the new makes the York Tap an interesting place to visit, especially for those waiting for a train or looking to unwind briefly. During a recent visit, the ambiance was pleasant enough, with a setting that promises a nice experience. The staff, while not outstanding, were adequate in their service, maintaining a level of professionalism expected in such an establishment. However, the experience was marred by a couple of significant drawbacks. Firstly, the beer quality was underwhelming. The beer served was notably flat, lacking the vibrancy and liveliness one would anticipate in a pub renowned for its selection of drinks. This was disappointing, especially for those looking forward to enjoying a refreshing beverage. Moreover, the state of the toilets left much to be desired. Cleanliness, especially in public facilities, is a critical aspect of the overall experience in any establishment. In this case, the toilets were not kept clean, detracting further from the overall appeal of the York Tap. In conclusion, while the York Tap boasts an attractive exterior and a location convenient for travellers, the lacklustre beer and poorly maintained facilities significantly diminish its charm. The experience, as a whole, was underwhelming, leading to a decision to probably not return in the future. For a pub that holds such potential due to its location and historic ambiance, it's unfortunate that the finer details of customer experience were overlooked.

Been in a few times but only for one drink in recent times as I was driving. It's reasonably priced for a station pub. It was the model railway when I first visited York station back in 1997 (I had been before, but was too young to remember). I would avoid it at weekends though unless your train is cancelled and you don't have time or energy to go back into town.
