This place is perfectly located, right in front of the Minster, offering a lovely view. I got a really warm welcome from the waitress, and everyone there was super friendly. I had a mocha, and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever had—smooth and rich, just perfect. Between the friendly service and the great location, I’d definitely recommend stopping by.

This was a real find in the city centre. Not a large menu (which is usually a good sign) and everything was done perfectly, all at very reasonable prices. Coffee was also good. Add to that the very friendly service and we were able to sit outside with our dog (on a lead) and watch the world go by, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime visit.

I had a lovely hot chocolate and asked for a piece of Parkin. Unfortunately what they called Parkin is in fact. Gingerbread it had a lovely taste and texture . When I said it wasn't Parkin the waitress said she knew and I pointed out it was Gingerbread she said it wasn't traditional Parkin . I make Parkin a traditional Yorkshire recipe that one of my friends great aunt made . So I know it's made with golden syrup, treacle ,porridge oats ,butter , flour and sugar. And contains no ginger .

what I ordered was a simple ham & cheese toastie... you don't expect a lot from that. But it was so well executed, and delicious! Great quality proper roast ham, all ingredients in the right proportions, evenly toasted, and must have had butter brushed on before toasting because you could taste that. So simple, nothing to hide behind, no bells and whistles, but totally satisfying and carefully, thoughtfully done. Really great experience. Not surprised it was so busy!

On arrival in York for the day we popped in here, for brunch,We were seated straight away inside, and asked for our drink and food order,I had a delicious milkshake and a bacon sandwich,My sandwich was just ok,as I found the bacon on the dry side, but I ate most of it as I was hungry. Two things I wasn't happy about and that the ladies toilet was in a dirty state, the grime around the inside latch cubicle was disgusting and looked like the paintwork hadn't been cleaned for weeks..So I will not be returning, plus the man who served us with glasses on,not once looked into our faces when talking and never smiled once,I noticed he was like this with everyone he served,I think he should learn to be more polite and friendly to paying customers

The cafe location in the shadow of York Minster is delightful and the staff very friendly. However, the food is hugely overrated for what you get and the price you pay. My wife had a scone which was dry and pre buttered, which we've not seen before. I had a cheese and pickle sandwich on brown. The cheese looked and tasted like the processed variety in ordinary brown bread and smothered in Branston Pickle. Not good. I wouldn't recommend it. You also have to pay £2 for a mug of hot water, which quite honestly is a rip off.

This coffee shop, was too close to the minister, hence price hike, plus selling filter coffee at Barista (ground coffee) prices. Was expecting something a bit bigger than a small bun 3 small split sausage and a few leave for £8.80. The best way to draw attention to anything or anywhere, is give a bad review. Every reader will go and try and say it was fantastic. A Bad Review is worth its weight in Gold. Look at the Bennett`s Cafe Business now.

The cafe is harmoniously decorated and the music in the background went well with the decor and atmosphere in the cafe. It was piano music. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea were good. A piece of cake was good, but presented very carelessly. The female waiter was friendly but not attentive. Not all the tables in the small cafe were occupied. I wanted to pay for a long time, but the conditions never looked my way. I don't want to shout through the cafe that I want to pay, I find that extremely indecent. A couple two tables away could pay and the terms and conditions were passed to the couple six times: she asked what they wanted, brought the bill, got the payment terminal, etc. Her eyes never went to the other tables. As soon as the couple paid, she cleared their table and the table next to us. Not a glance in my direction. It was only when we started putting on our jackets and stood up that we were noticed and I was finally able to pay. I expect a condition to repeatedly scan and consciously look at its guests. This ensures that the guest is noticed and does not have to make his presence known by calling. Please look at your guests and let their eyes wander regularly from table to table. This should be possible in such a small restaurant.

Rude staff and very unhelpful. We came to York, visiting our son and girlfriend. After walking around for a few hours we decided a cup of tea and a cake was much needed. We walked past Bennetts and noticed two empty tables so we popped in and was told ‘everyone has just been seated’and there were no available tables. (even though most people were actually eating so they can’t of been just seated.)I did ask about the two empty tables, and if they were reserved the woman said ‘No and sorry we can’t help you’. She didn’t even say it in a nice manner, even one of the customers said to my husband ‘there was no need for that’. My son has lived in York for 5 years and has never experienced anything like this before. Thankfully all the other restaurants we visited were warm and welcoming.

Terrible service & food. How many times do you need to ask for a glass of ice & a slice to go with the large bottle of water you have purchased?! Four times here. Friends fish overcooked my toastie bread was burnt but they hid it inside... Surprise!! Table booked was taken so we didn't get booth. All in all bad experience for my friends birthday meal out. My friend complained but they never acknowledged or bothered to get back to her. Terrible customer service & food. Decoration of restaurant gorgeous, all that is going for it!!
