Visited for dinner and it was lovely! The food was exceptional, beautifully presented, good portion sizes, tastes amazing and reasonably prices. We had the fish and chips and the jerk chicken burger both of which were fantastic. We had the cheesecake for dessert which was also excellent! The staff, especially the new owners, were very accommodating to any dietary requirements, all the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. We'll definitely be back again.

Had lovely lunch and at very good price. Lots of choice even for special dietary needs. To say they have only been doing food again for 4 weeks, the new management are doing great!!

I recently visited as I heard there was new owners and I wanted to try it out with my partner. I must say it is worlds apart from what it used to be like. The food was exceptional and I really liked the new menu that has been created. I would really recommend this place as I feel the prices are very reasonable for the area. The staff were really nice and pleasant and they were really helpful with any dietary requirements my partner had. The new owners have really given this place a new lease of life. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends and I will be returning!

Came here for dinner with my family and I have to say the food was amazing. I had the pork belly which was cooked to perfection and my family all complimented their meals as well. The service was fantastic as well with all the young girls working so well together which is just great to see. Will definitely be back!

Have never been here before and quite frankly don't think I'll be back. The food was at best, average but the overall atmosphere was completely dismal. Staff seemed uninterested in customers and the overal tone and chatter from the kitchen (which could be heard from the table) was disgusting. Wouldn't wish working on this team on my worst enemy, completely childlike attitudes towards one another and would hate to think what they were saying about customers as well.

Food took ages today, so dont go if you're starving like us, as it took 75 mins to arrive. Food was mostly good but needed more seasoning, and childrens portions were for age 5, not age 10! Sunday pork was cooked perfectly! Heard that the nut roast was good, so I will have that next time. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We will be back to try again as I heard pub have just started serving! With a few improvements, it will be an excellent place to place eat out.

Called in today, 27 July for lunch - this was the first food serving since the new landlords took over. Friendly staff, good service. The food was very well presented and absolutely delicious. Pricing was what you would expect for pub food. A great find, Will definitely return soon. Would strongly recommend. Places serving food with such a great taste and beautiful presentation like this are few and far between. Well done to everyone.

Tbe food and staff were amazing.£15.50 for the carvery was incredible value and despite arriving near the end of lunch service the staff were helpful and friendly with prompt service.i would certainly come back without hesitation.

Lovely pub, nice menu, good value for money and parking available. Chicken curry was lovely as was the haddock and chips. Friendly and attentive staff.

We had streak, with blue cheese. Streak pie. The food wasn't best food. £42 for food that wasn't that great! Staff friendly service.

Been for Lunch today with 3 colleagues, I can honestly say I was embarrassed by the quality and service received. The food is both poor and very expensive the service is very slow. I would advise the owners to stop what they are doing and take a good look at all aspects of this place. It used to be good and worth a visit but I would never recommend this to anyone ever. All of us agreed that had we gone to a lay by cafe it would have been better and would not have cost 1/2 of what I paid. If you want steak pie either Rose and Crown York or the Black Swan York. And if you want Curry Birds eye do one to match the Wenlocks attempt at curry!

We hadn't booked but thankfully they had a table we could sit at with our Rottweiler. Staff were really friendly and chatty. The carvery was lovely, we had the steak pie with carvery veg which was really tasty.

I never wants pubs to struggle as it is difficult enough in these times for them Went for a Sunday roast with 7 of us for the first time as the family was up that way looking at a wedding venue. Everything was fine very friendly Apart from who ever is cutting the meat on the carvery needs to leave . He is letting the place down . I have have never had two thinner or small cuts of meat given to me . It was that thin it was like packet cold meat thin and small. It was clear that when I mentioned something he did say that what ever is left is for the staff to take . I asked twice for crackling as did most of my party and from this big bowl of it he cut you one tiny bit . I did notice as we were sat close to the carvery that a family came up he must have known he gave them loads of meat and cracking He was very ignorant and not a customer facing person . The ladies were lovely as were all the other staff . The veg gravy etc was great . Loads of that It’s a shame please sort him and do not ruin a great pub and eatery

Rolled up way too late to expect a Sunday lunch but the staff bent over backwards to fit us in and went on to supply one of the best Sunday lunches we have had for ages. On top of the splendid food the beer was excellent and all served by a very friendly bunch.

Went for Sunday carvery. Food poor. Meat dry and tasteless,out under hot plates for too long. Veg selection dreadful. Service none existent.

After a long walk, we wanted to find something to eat and this little pub was perfect! We went on a Sunday (carvery day) and it was busy with a good atmosphere. The food tasted amazing and the staff were extremely pleasant.

Food OK but the terrace was grubby - old fag ends! Obviously not swept for ages! We should have eaten inside!!!

Service was good. Young girl was very polite and nice to see helping an old gentleman to and from his car. The food was OK, but i would not rush back.

Staying at westerley lakes came here twice nice little pub very friendly staff .me and hubby had the pie and chips on sataday was amazing very filling . We booked for carvery on the Sunday wS very nice but yound lad serving was a bit tight with the meat and we paid for extra meat but worst of all the crackling he cut the size of my finger tip in half and struggled felt like saying get it all on lol young man you are tight with the crackling other that very nice

I have had better roast dinners.The meat was well cooked and tender, but the vegetables were luke warm, roast potatoes undercooked.

Fantastic menu with dishes that can be adjusted to suit gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan on both their lunch and evening menus. We had the cajun chicken burger adjusted to be DF and GF. It was the nicest pub meal I've had on a long time. The atmosphere is calm and traditionally decorated. The staff are lovely and checked with the chef if they could accommodate our dietary requirements. Will be visiting again!

Nice village pub with plenty of space. Food is nice and reasonably priced. It might not be as cheap as Toby Carvery but you don’t have to mingle with pond life!

Made a Brit stop here with our camper. Enjoy a drink in the garden. And ate inside. Spicy tuna steak .and my husband had chicken curry. They were very friendly. But you have to get the drinks yourself.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch after previously visiting several times for quick drinks. We thought we'd get basic pub grub, but our expectations were more than exceeded! My husband ordered a rump steak, whereas I ordered the stuffed chicken breast wrapped in parma ham (which I heartily recommend.) Both dishes were absolutely delicious and came fairly quickly. Our server was sweet and attentive and all the bar staff were very friendly. We will definitely be returning soon!

Had a lovely meal with friends. I'm one of those slightly awkward folk that needs the odd tweak with meals & The team in The Wenlock were extremely accommodating, no issues, the service was fantastic & the food was wonderful. It was a warm evening & we sat inside to eat, it was very quiet inside so once we'd finished our meals we went in the beer garden which was buzzing with people enjoying the sunshine & the pubs refreshments. Fabulous evening had by all.

We was booked in at the pub for 2pm on Sunday 11th June for the carvery as we we're staying locally for a couple of nights. Unfortunately my husband was suffering really badly with hay fever and couldn't go so I rang to explain and cancel. We then decided to ask if I could pick it up as a takeaway and they said yes. I'm really glad we did it was fantastic everything cooked perfect and it was packed up in boxes and was piping hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful and hopefully in the near future when we come back to stay we will get to have our next carvery in the pub 😀 thank you everyone x Diane Harris

Called in the pub while staying down the road on holiday. Very friendly indeed...Great food and very reasonably priced. Large portions as well. Recommended....but I would advise booking if on Saturday or Sunday as I would imagine being the only pub in the village it gets busy.

First time at the Wenlock for a meal , 19 of the family went I had the home made Steak pie it's the best so far. I'd Recommend it

Lovely visit! We were staying just up the road and had a walk down. Lovely and friendly, perfect local pub. Had lovely food here too, lots to chose from on the menu and all cooked very well!

Fantastic carvery with the best red cabbage I’ve ever tasted. Cater for Gluten free as well. Nice hot food and cheery carvery chef. Staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating.

Slow service, nice steak pie but let down by awful, dried up chips.

Fab food as always & mega impressed with gluten free choices. In most places there's normally only a few choices for main meals but I counted 10 choices tonight! Only down side is the service was quite slow otherwise would have been five stars.

Nice pub with good food and friendly staff. The pub was nearly empty and it did take a while for our food to come out, but it was very nice. If you have the 8oz burger it is very spicy, it has Cajun Pepper, so be warned, there is a plain burger.

A little bit of a drive for us but well worth it. The food was lovely, price was reasonable and the staff were really welcoming. Thanks a lot, if I'm around the area again, I'll be back.

Had dinner at the Wenlock Arms last weekend, hadn't tried the food here before. I was delighted. The service was first class, friendly, accommodating, attentive, happy to explain the thinking behind the dishes. Can find no fault at all with the service - exemplary. The food was really good, high quality ingredients (so it seemed to me) and well prepared. The menu had just the right number of options, not so few to limit choice, but not so many as to make me suspicious of the cooked to order credentials. I'm looking forward to going again and I'll definitely recommend. As a minor suggestion - I'd change the bottles and bottle boxes on the high shelves for some "high end" (empty) wine bottles and dispense with the boxes.

The Cajun burger meals were top quality ! only fault was I feel he let loose with the spice a little to much which upset my stumach quite alot as both me and my partner's mouths were burning after eating ..... We came another occasion my partner and son were quite happy with the Sunday dinner we got but I personally was not impressed as for 12 quid my plates portion was smaller than my son's kids plate as the selection of vegetables wernt that great and as I was lactose couldn't eat the cauliflower either ...I understand 9.99 which I thought was the price before I entered when checking online . But for my meal that was maybe a little more meat than my son's kids meal was fairly underwhelming for the price compared to other cavery establishments .....non the less the qaulity of food was good .... (Edit Cajun spice is spicy appreciate the reply not to sound condesending but it totally did ...also it doesn't note there are other spices in there well over used if you want me to put it strate and my partner thought so to )p.s I use Cajun spice on every steak and it doesn't burn my mouth so I know the overuse of spices when I taste them ! .... The Sunday meal was small I chose my own but I wasn't just going to pile more potatoes and vegetables on like I said limited option to variety but that may just be standard in this place in the middle of nowhere , I'm used to larger caverys in bigger city's ! ...I'm not a regular so I wouldn't know this you could change your prices online to make people more aware before entering if they are not local they wouldn't know. Thanks I've revoked a star for the top comment of your reply I'm a chef and have been for 20 years i don't need to be told what spice is spicy .

Food is very nice and the staff are always friendly.

Just popped in for Sunday lunch and not disappointed! Everything was delicious and beautifully cooked and the veggie option was very very good (nut roast). I only had the smaller portion lunch but still a good plate full. Staff were lovely and friendly and a great choice of drinks. Husband loved his jaffa cake cheese cake pudding! Will definitely be returning.

Good delicious as always- but undoubtedly the staff are among the best in the business. They don’t do customer service they do customer care- and it’s second to none. I am always particularly impressed by the attention to detail of the younger team members, who are bright and engaging. Today Billy was no exception living up to the high standards of his colleagues

Visited a couple of times for lunch after walking in the beautiful Wheldrake woods. Reception is friendly and the food is great. I can particularly recommend the Cajun chicken strips with sweet potato chips, washed down with the excellent Farmers Blonde bitter. The service is good and the prices seem lower than average for the area. Thoroughly recommended.

Five ladies met for a meal. It was excellent. Everyone very welcoming and the lady who looked after us was really kind and helpful.

I only stayed for chips whilst recovering from a cycle ride and they were delicious! Also a good sized portion. Had three choices of size for soft drink rather than half or whole pint. Details matter.
