Gorgeous pub. Very cosy and welcoming. I was gutted when I ordered the steak pie @£18.95 and expecting a proper home made pie. What actually arrived was a ceramic dish filled with stew and a thin layer of pastry (like a fleuron) This is NOT a pie! A proper pie has pastry on the bottom, top and sides and is filled with lovely succulent pie filling. Please don’t advertise this as a pie as it’s isn’t! It wasn’t worth anywhere near £19. I’d have paid more than that if it were a proper pie! Nice staff though!

What a fantastic Christmas 🎄 lunch! This was not only amazing food, with quality local ingredients, but the service is exceptional. A very warm welcome with attentive staff. Brilliant 🎉 👏 If you didn't manage to get there this Christmas, then try one of the Sunday roast dinners in the New Year 😋 Booking is definitely recommended.

Just returned from a lovely relaxed New Year Break in Grosmont Lodge No.6. This was our 2nd stay at Pickering lodges and I was excited about returning. The Lodge was lovely and comfortable, with reclining sofas and smart TV. The bed although only a double was really comfortable with lovely clean white sheets, and they provided us with 2 hand and 2 bath towels, although towels for the hot tub would have been a bonus. The decking and hot tub were lovely, private with a fab view of the pond with the swans, ducks and other wildlife. Now for the downside. First impression of the lodge looks amazing, but there was no freezer or dishwasher. The oven was standard, but the state of the art combination microwave had no instructions. I eventually worked it out. The 4 electric hotplates with combined 2 gas rings looked fabulous, but seemed a little superfluous for a lodge for 2, such a shame the worktop space couldn't have been put to better use and a decent size sink installed. As someone had already said in an earlier review, the heater in the bedroom was still stuck on 30. As we were leaving they said they were closing for a few weeks to attend to some maintenance, which as they are almost always full could be hard when open. I cannot fault the friendliness of all the staff, and would return, but maybe check they had a freezer and dishwasher in the lodge we rent.

Second time visiting the Caffe Stop found in the corner of the car park in Pickering. With a leg injury it was handy to be able to park the car and walk across the car park. Warm welcome from the staff who are really lovely here, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We both had a cooked breakfast which was great, plentiful and filling. Really enjoy coming here for lunch, it is handy with the car park, food is nicely cooked and presented and the staff are a great. Definitely worth the drive out from Scarborough.

My son Samuel will not go anywhere else, the best sausage rolls in Yorkshire. He opts for the chilli flavoured ones, in fact he's taking 6 home with him today. I've also enjoyed a marvellous full Enish in thete with the own Dan and all of his staff being so courteous. Their cakes and pastries are also first class. A must visit for travellers to Pickering.

Possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had in a pub. We should never have gone in after being warned there was a party of 18 booked, and had we realised how incredibly noisy they were going to be, we would have gone away. I had to take a tablet half an hour before eating, so my husband asked for us to be served in half an hour. The large party's orders were taken and the food delivered long before ours arrived, and they were ordering their desserts; a couple near us who had come in after us were served. I was getting anxious, because if more than an hour goes by without eating, my stomach tablet doesn't work. My husband had to go and ask about our order, because I was getting very anxious and also getting a migraine because of the noisy party, who were constantly yelling to each other. I went to the loo, which was up a step (so not wheelchair friendly, though the entrance is), which were less than clean, and one of the toilets didn't even have a seat. I mean, a new seat isn't exactly dear! There were a lot of signs up abut drugs, so it looks like there is a drug problem. My meal was there when I got back to the table, but it was barely edible. The chicken had been warmed up too long in the microwave and was too hard and overdone to eat, and the cheese was congealed and rubbery. They brought us a free drink to say sorry but we just wanted to get out of there as quick as we could. To add insult to injury, the large party had blocked us in with one of their many vehicles. The interior was dark and dingy and depressing. This was the first time we'd eaten anywhere in Pickering and we wish we hadn't bothered and just eaten in the hotel we were staying in, thankfully not this one.

Stayed at the Beansheaf hotel for 6 nights recently as I was working in the area. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are clean and well maintained and have lots of little touches that you don’t get in big chain hotels. The owners are friendly and can’t do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. Really pretty views too, loved that if you stood outside on a night you could hear the farm animals!! Would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully I will find a reason to stay there again. Thank you for a lovely stay

When staying at a local campsite and visiting Pickering we found this lovely spacious bar, spotlessly clean. Nice ambiance, great choice of drinks served amiably by Daz, the manager. Friendly clientele. Pictures of the bar need updating on Ta as the bar looks much smarter & welcoming than shown here.

Called here for coffee and lunch. Waited 5 minutes and were shown to a table. Waitress said she'd bring over the menus. Stood around chatting to her colleagues, Menu never arrived. After 15 minutes we walked out. I don't expect the food to come immediately but I do expect a menu to be delivered within 15 minuts. Goodness knows how long we'd have had to wait for food if we had stayed. Don't even deserve the 1* I've had to give them.
