My wife and i booked in for a meal in September for our anniversary. The staff and owners were absolutely wonderfully and very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and expertly presented. The menu was really varied and had a great wine menu. The insides of the restaurant was lovely and was also immaculate. 5 star food rating by the local authorities. We will definitely be back. Thank you Everyone for a wonderful experience.

We came here primarily for lunch but ended up having a look round the shop, having a go on the train and using the 'pick your own' facilities! The cafe was full when we arrived but the gave us a little pager and it said it would beep when a table was available so we decided to have a look around the shop. It went off after about 10 minutes even though they estimated 30 minutes, so that was good. The staff in the cafe are friendly and the food is fantastic. We had a ride on the train around the farm which was nice. We also decided to pick our own strawberries. There wasn't many left as they had been picked through, but we did get as many as we wanted and they were cheap too. Fantastic little place.

From the outside, The Buck Inn looked warm and inviting and as we entered the main bar area we weren't disappointed. A roaring log fire added to the already warm, friendly ambience. We were greeted with a smile at the bar and shown to our table. It was a Friday night and very busy so we were glad we had reserved. Drinks selection was good with a couple of decent local ales on tap. I had the Viking blonde ale which was excellent. The menu wasn't massive which I prefer, quality over quantity! I went for the black pudding and Stilton starter followed by the pork belly and mash. My wife had the soup, which was pea and spinach, followed by fish and chips. We both give our meals 10 out of 10. Service was quick and unobtrusive. The cost for the meal (not including drinks) was a touch under £50 which is excellent value considering the quality of the food. Overall a wonderful evening, great hosts and exceptional food.

Stayed here Friday to Monday end of September and we were really lucky to have caught nice weather. The staff were friendly and welcoming - could not fault. We were shown to our lodge and had the hot tub explained to us and general fire safety rules etc. We stayed at the Levisham lodge. It was clean, warm and great views of the lake which had wildlife there too. The lodge itself had plenty of utensils and crockery to use. There was a flat screen TV fully equipped with Freeview and apps such as BBC iPlayer, Netflix and many more. There were fresh bath and hand towels on each bed, the rooms were spacious enough and had a comfortable night sleep, lovely and fresh, clean bedding. There was a nice touch with a welcome basket with biscuits, tea and coffee. The hot tub was lovely and clean upon using it, we were in it every day and night! Couldn’t get enough of the views! Very private as well which was great. We had a drink inside Spencer’s Bar and Grill on site, which seems to only be open end of the week/weekends at the moment but has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Warm and cosy in there with a fantastic drink selection behind the bar! Big play park outside to keep the kids entertained. Also, went to the Black Bull Inn just opposite the site over the road, again, welcoming and warm and friendly atmosphere, great drink and food selection. If you fancy a walk into Pickering - it’s about half an hour walk along Malton Road to get there. It’s a quiet and friendly little place with a good selection of small markets and unique boutique shops. Definitely worth a visit. Will definitely return again to Pickering Lodges, had such a lovely and relaxing time. Everywhere is dog friendly which is a huge bonus for those who like to take their dogs on breaks away!

I have stopped by a few times when working in the area or just visiting Pickering. Always friendly service. Very reasonable prices and a good selection. I don't have a dog but I like that it's dog friendly. Certainly a better selection than the chain cafes on the same street. Look forward to stopping by the next time I'm in Pickering.

Possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had in a pub. We should never have gone in after being warned there was a party of 18 booked, and had we realised how incredibly noisy they were going to be, we would have gone away. I had to take a tablet half an hour before eating, so my husband asked for us to be served in half an hour. The large party's orders were taken and the food delivered long before ours arrived, and they were ordering their desserts; a couple near us who had come in after us were served. I was getting anxious, because if more than an hour goes by without eating, my stomach tablet doesn't work. My husband had to go and ask about our order, because I was getting very anxious and also getting a migraine because of the noisy party, who were constantly yelling to each other. I went to the loo, which was up a step (so not wheelchair friendly, though the entrance is), which were less than clean, and one of the toilets didn't even have a seat. I mean, a new seat isn't exactly dear! There were a lot of signs up abut drugs, so it looks like there is a drug problem. My meal was there when I got back to the table, but it was barely edible. The chicken had been warmed up too long in the microwave and was too hard and overdone to eat, and the cheese was congealed and rubbery. They brought us a free drink to say sorry but we just wanted to get out of there as quick as we could. To add insult to injury, the large party had blocked us in with one of their many vehicles. The interior was dark and dingy and depressing. This was the first time we'd eaten anywhere in Pickering and we wish we hadn't bothered and just eaten in the hotel we were staying in, thankfully not this one.

A group of 17 stayed here for 3 nights and had an excellent time. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with a plentiful hostess tray. The food was delicious, home cooked and plentiful. Being a group, we had pre-ordered our evening meals. Plates and food were hot. The staff were friendly, obliging and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will certainly revisit this hotel and I’ve already recommended it to friends.

When staying at a local campsite and visiting Pickering we found this lovely spacious bar, spotlessly clean. Nice ambiance, great choice of drinks served amiably by Daz, the manager. Friendly clientele. Pictures of the bar need updating on Ta as the bar looks much smarter & welcoming than shown here.

Called here for coffee and lunch. Waited 5 minutes and were shown to a table. Waitress said she'd bring over the menus. Stood around chatting to her colleagues, Menu never arrived. After 15 minutes we walked out. I don't expect the food to come immediately but I do expect a menu to be delivered within 15 minuts. Goodness knows how long we'd have had to wait for food if we had stayed. Don't even deserve the 1* I've had to give them.
