The best restaurants in Pickering East Ryedale Yorkshire and The Humber

Nice to find a very dog friendly coffee shop. We had coffee and scones which came at a very reasonable price. The shop within had a beautiful selection of quirky gifts, just about to move to Pickering and can see this being a regular stop off.

We stayed for bed and breakfast here. The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting overlooking meadows. Hosts very friendly. Comfortable bedroom. The TV reception is scrambled and there is no phone signal - so I would recommend enabling WiFi calling on your phone and bring a book 😃

A lovely tea room serving some really nice sandwiches and cakes. This is the perfect place to visit after a walk. With or without your dogs.

We visited for a friend's birthday. Food was fabulous, service very good and staff were very friendly.

I had lunch today; welcoming staff, considerate though the place was busy. Food to a high standard. the place is quirky. Tables at the back so no issue with seating. Lots to choose from regarding food and drinks. Worth a visit.

Didn't book but were welcomed, food was excellent, service too. Atmosphere marred by our failure to book and being seated "upstairs" which was rather quiet.

Gorgeous pub. Very cosy and welcoming. I was gutted when I ordered the steak pie @£18.95 and expecting a proper home made pie. What actually arrived was a ceramic dish filled with stew and a thin layer of pastry (like a fleuron) This is NOT a pie! A proper pie has pastry on the bottom, top and sides and is filled with lovely succulent pie filling. Please don’t advertise this as a pie as it’s isn’t! It wasn’t worth anywhere near £19. I’d have paid more than that if it were a proper pie! Nice staff though!

It was a Monday afternoon, and the market was closing up. We arrived in Pickering to find nearly all the eateries closed. We went to Capplemans almost by default, but what a lovely surprise. We ordered three meals - the staff were excellent. Fantastic food. This is not just a fish and chip shop. This is good food. It is also at a reasonable price. The vegan options were as good as the other meals. The crispy batter on the vegan sausage a revelation. I had two fish cakes, full of flavour and a small portion of chips- which defeated me. We also ordered the sea food platter, which delighted being full of 5 or 6 varieties of fish. Finally, a good drinks menu. This is a wonderful place, care is taken over every aspect of the menu, drinks and service.

Great takeaway and service. We went to pick up our food for takeaway and while we waited we sat and enjoyed a drink . Next time we call we will try the restaurant as the takeaway food was great .

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the accomodation as only visited for a Sunday Lunch on a snowy day in January. The food selection was a choice of traditional Sunday roasts with a vegetarian option. I chose the roast beef which was nicely cooked, tender and tasty - complimented beautifully by the selection of seasonal vegetables (the horseradish was a delight). Comfortable and light seating area with ample space around the tables. Excellent value for money especially when compared with my usual haunts in the south of England (& Yorkshire servings).

What a find! An excellent restaurant in charming Pickering! Atmoshpere was cosy and relaxed. The stuff were warm and friendly. As for the food, it was delicious!

What a fantastic Christmas 🎄 lunch! This was not only amazing food, with quality local ingredients, but the service is exceptional. A very warm welcome with attentive staff. Brilliant 🎉 👏 If you didn't manage to get there this Christmas, then try one of the Sunday roast dinners in the New Year 😋 Booking is definitely recommended.

Loved the food and staff very welcoming

We had called in at the shop for some goodies and my husband suggested having a sit down and a cuppa. It was quite late in the afternoon but we were made welcome. Our choices of cake and drinks came quickly. The portions were huge. My self and my daughter had Christmas cake with Wensleydale cheese. we were given 2 slices of cake and enough cheese for both. We enjoyed it so much we went back for a cake to take home with us. All the ladies are lovely, so friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to visit. Thankyou.
