Four of us enjoyed beautifully cooked meals at the Black Swan last night. We also had our dog with us, and she was made welcome, too. We had chosen this pub for its location, in the centre of Pickering and for the menu choices available. I can recommend the sea bream and the chicken schnitzels were large and very tender. I booked a table online that day, and we all had a splendid time. We will return.

Wow what a find. Superb food, fantastic service and welcome from Gemma and colleagues with private and secure parking too.

An excellent hostelry, beers and food all very good quality, reasonable prices and friendly service. Highly recommended.

I had a lovely Evening meal here during my recent visit to Pickering while staying at a local cottage that also included a car parking space at this lovely hotel/ pub in the centre of this beautiful market town. Highly recommended for good quality top notch food and drinks, with excellent service from the entire team. 🤩 They also have a fantastic fully enclosed large outdoor drinks area. It’s also advisable to book to avoid either a long wait or disappointments. Also dog very 🐶 friendly

Called in for a drink very nice, bright, and clean looking pub inside and out .It seemed very popular and busy inside. The beer yard at the rear of the pub was nice and under cover, so no problem if it rains . Toilets were very clean and great novelty ideas in the gents.

Absolutely delightful 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel Lovely bar with a nice selection of drinks for all . Breakfast top notch .

Really lovely pub, staff very friendly & dog friendly. Nice big area outside you can sit at that's undercover & has table heaters. We sat inside, spacious & clean. It's a hotel also which is handy to know. Has its own private carpark also which is great. The food was delicious, I had the butternut squash & sage risotto, my husband had the green vegetable risotto & my daughter had the homemade chicken bacon & leek pie with veg, new potatoes & gravy. All presented beautifully, gastro style & quality but in a relaxed setting, just perfect. We would definitely recommend.

Had another great meal and couple of pints at this superb Inn. We only moved into the area about a year ago but have this as our go to place when looking for top notch pub food and drinks with friends, all backed up by very friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor undercover bar is also perfect. Would recommend a visit to anyone and the chicken pie is delicious 😋. Be back before too long. Mark and Debs Addinall

Friendly staff, rooms ok, drinks/food ok, location good.

We didn’t stay here so can’t comment on the rooms but the food and service were superb. The Menu is simple, nothing fancy, just delivered to a very high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the hospitality shown.

There isn't a bad pub in Pickering it seems to me. Certainly the Black Swan is a good one. Was staying in accommodation opposite side of the car park to the pub. Stopped in for a pint 2 or 3 times during a week's hol. Staff and locals all v v friendly. Only issue is the opening time - seems vary day by day (decided on the day ?!?)

Nipped in for a quick stop. Good, central location. 6 handpulled cask beers on which were North Riding Brewery's Mosaic Pale, Breworks Lightheaded Session Ale, Half Moon Brewery's Dark Masquerade Mild, Half Moon Brewery's Old Forge Bitter, Breworks Path Finder IPA and Breworks Coal Porter. Fentimans ginger beer exorbitant price here, more expensive than a pint in some places and more than twice what I normally pay. A shocking £3.45.... Yikes and an eeek.

What a lovely place, room was superb,comendations to all the staff, service was excellent would definitely stay there again, thanks again loved it.

Staying at The Black Swan hotel is like staying with good friends. From the moment I checked-in, until the time I left, Jill and her team could not have done more to make me feel welcome and comfortable. A special thanks to Beaj, the incredible guy behind the busy bar. His friendly, open and helpful manner made me feel like one of the locals. My stay at The Black Swan, as a solo traveler, was very special and I will certainly be back.

Rude man behind bar advised us there was more seating at the back of pub so bought a drink only to end up being sat outside in cold with no patio heaters working

Just arrived home after our amazing stay at the Black Swan. The staff were absolutely brilliant, really warm and welcoming and had a great sense of humour. The rooms were lovely and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the beer garden and a fabulous meal in their restaurant. Highly recommend a visit.

Had a lovely meal for two. The menu and food were excellent, with a good range of options done very well. And our dog was made welcome too 😊. Big thank you to the ladies serving who were professional and friendly. Need to shout out to the top real ales. Nom.

Lovely food at a reasonable price with friendly service.

We stayed two nights & had a great time. Great food & fantastic rooms. All new & smart bar area. Jill is very friendly & staff couldn’t be more friendly & helpful. I would have no problem recommending the black swan at all

Lovely building, good host...didn't get full experience as we'd missed the fact that pub was closed and no food service in jan/Feb on the day we stayed, so no place to unwind after a days walking , only the bedroom.

Really enjoyed our visit, dog friendly, superb food and a relaxing atmosphere, the staff were helpful and very welcoming to us, and our dog, Barri, top draw !

We had dinner 4 of us, it was absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't fault it would highly recommend, we've rebooked for 11th February we loved it so much.

Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch, beef was the best I'd ever had. Staff extremely attentive but without being intrusive and very friendly. Added bonus was its dog friendly.

Booked for dinner yesterday, 30.12.23 had a fantastic experience, excellent food and friendly staff. Couldn't fault it. Booked for Sunday lunch in February already. See you then.

Just come back from our third stay in "The Black Swan" in Pickering. Cannot wait to go back again. We stay in pub, hotels etc on a regular basis, this is one of the best we stay in. Yes I have read the bad reviews, goodness me some people really need to travel/get out more. Rooms spotless, warm and cosy, (even the spooky one, lol) The staff and owners cant do enough to make your stay pleasurable. If you have any life changing problems like your beans at breakfast not to your liking, say so, I guarantee it will be sorted. Cannot praise enough. Go for a visit, you'll have a lovely time.
