Called in to grab some sandwiches on our last trip up to Whitby and they were fantastic! The salad selection they put on is second to none a fanatic variety that just adds to the flavours of whatever you are having. The staff were lovely and very impressed wit the young lady's memory as didn't write anything down but everything was perfect!

Been here a few times over the years. Food is OK. Not as special as they seem to think it is. Service has always been a bit ropey but it was horrendous thos time. Waited ages for the staff to clear a table. There were a few uncleaned ones. Quite a crowd jammed in by door by the time they did anything about it. Everyone seated had food, so not sure what the staff were doing. Plenty of them too. Lots of things not available when we ordered and that has happened in the past. It was the lady who took the order tgat inspired this review. Rude! If she thinks she's funny, she is not. Aggressive and confrontational. We were perfectly polite and all of us stunned at her behaviour. Will never return. Whole place could do with a good clean and redecorating. There are lots of cafes in Pickering which is a lovely town. Will be trying them in future.

A delightful experience from setting foot in the place to being helped out with boxes after lunch. We both chose salad ploughman's lunches which were fresh and generous, with their own pies. Speciality teas and coffee, no room for puddings, but both bought from the shop counter on the way out. Lovely staff who really looked and seemed as if they wanted to be there. Felt appreciated as customers.

Looking for an independent Cafe in Pickering we had the good fortune to find this lovely little Cafe. A very warm and friendly welcome, the lovely Lady guided us towards the Cafe team who offered us a seat. The Cafe was busy but very relaxed, a very friendly atmosphere. The very glamorous Lady who took our order was very smiley and ready to answer any questions. 1 cream tea and a toasted teacake later we were well and truly topped up. Although the Cafe had people waiting to be seated we did not feel rushed to vacate our table. Hearing regular visitors call the team by name always gives me a comfort that they come back for good food and great service. All of the Ladies serving today were so very kind and friendly. Thank you for such a lovely stop off.

We called in at Whitby Bothams just for a cup of tea. We were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome by the lovely staff. Travelled to Pickering on the NYMR and on coming out of the station Botham's was just about opposite. Purchase their cakes from time to time in our local Booths, so decided to go in. Whilst just about lunch time only a short wait for a table. Service was quick and friendly. Had delicious bacon butties followed by ginger parkin with custard. All first class. Coffee was spot on and so was their own brand tea. Afterwards stocked up on cakes to take home. Next day tried their Baxtergate shop in Whitby, not as good.

Called with my wife for drinks and cake. However when coming to pay with a card the payment machine appeared to gave me four options, three icons for adding a tip of variant amounts and one smaller for no tip. I felt this put me under pressure and spoilt our visit. Consequently I am unlikely to revisit or if I do will pay cash then I can leave a tip, the amount being at my discretion. Tea and cake was okay although the cup and saucers are very much a mismatch.

I love this cafe and bakery! We like to call in when we are up here on holiday and each time we receive lovely customer service and very yummy goods! Today we came in just after 3pm when a steam train had just got in to the station and it was raining, so I expected it to be busy but by some stroke of luck we had the place to ourselves for almost the whole time. Apparently it had been really busy not long before so we timed it well! My husband and I shared an afternoon tea, everything was lovely and all the ladies are really friendly. Highly recommended.

This is a small cafe and was busy when we arrived at 12.30, good sign .We had a baked potato and a toasted sandwich, both served with salad and definitely a step up from average. We really enjoyed it and would recommend. They serve about 10 blends of tea, in proper tea pots and china cups. The waitresses were friendly and efficient. The toilet is fitted in to a small area and as someone else has commented it could be awkward for anyone with a disability but it was very clean. We couldn't leave without cakes and a pork pie from the array in the front of the shop. Well known in the area, everything is top quality.

Came with my daughter and hoped to have a chat with her as well as some food. However that wasn’t to be. Overpriced tasteless toasted sandwich. Over £7 which I thought was a lot for what I actually was served. However I think they close at 5 week days but couldn’t understand why they started clearing up so early, well before 2. It was all systems go pots and pans literally flying around being pushed on shelves by all the staff available. This went on for over 15 minutes with no thought for the customers sat trying to enjoy their food and chat. I couldn’t hear one word my daughter said so we gave up trying to speak in the end which was annoying because we hadn’t met up in over three months. The staff were unbelievably rude with not a thought for customers sat. One couple I noticed walked out without ordering. I always thought that the waitresses job was to accommodate the customer but not here. Whether this is a daily occurrence I’ve no idea. I’ve never come across anything like it. All the cakes were taken out of the glass case in the cafe area and put away and the cabinet cleaned out. Ridiculous with three hours of trading left.

We were shopping in the town and decided to have a drink and cakes as a treat. We entered the cafe at 1.20 p m and ordered one hot chocolate, a scone with jam and a pot of tea with a scone jam and cream. A young lady came to take our name and telephone number as required by Covid rules. About twenty minutes later our drinks arrived. We had long finished our drink and it had been approx 50 minutes and no scones. I went to the payment area to ask when our scones would be coming. 5 minutes later our scones arrived and we asked if my husbands tea could be warmed up, what we got was hot water on stewed tea that tasted like dishwater so was undrinkable. No one came to our table to ask if everything was o k like at other tables. When I went to pay our bill a cheery lady said was everything o k and I told her how disappointed we were and she said they had been very busy and agreed to waiver the bill. If you look at my many reviews you will see I hardly ever complain and like to support local businesses. Sorry due to our experience we will not visit again.

We always enjoy our lunch/tea at Bothams. Cosy & friendly tearoom with a lovely choice of food & drinks. Yesterday we had the pork pie & home made quiche platters which were accompanied with lovely salads with a nice light dressing & 2 'chunks' of delicious bread & butter. What we like is we can buy most of the ingredients in the shop including the salad dressing. I also had a very nice Sencha tea. Loose tea served in an ingenious tea bag & yes I bought a pack of those when leaving as well! Didn't have room for desserts but went home with a huge piece of apple pie & a cream and jam turnover! All of this at a very reasonable price. We'll be back soon for a crab platter & sherry trifle!!!!

Excellent service and a lovely lunch. What more could you want. Crab sandwiches and hot chocolate served by a very friendly lady. Sandwiches were freshly made and very tasty and the hot chocolate made with real chocolate. Will be visiting again before we go home.

We were told to look out for 'Bothams' by a friend who loves the 1940s era. We knew of the tea rooms in Whitby, however, were delighted to discover the Pickering one when we arrived a little early for our trip on the NYMR.

Managed to find a table on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Very pleasant staff, huge pot of tea and delicious warm cheese scone with salad garnish and (I think) home made relish. Good that they were open on Sundays too to pick up supplies for journey home!

Been to Botham's countless times when on holiday in North Yorkshire and it's always a treat. It may lack the fame and prestige of Betty's ( York/Harrogate etc) it also lacks their fancy prices. What you get is consistent good quality, nicely presented food and value for money. The staff are excellent and know their stuff, from the youngest to the most "experienced" they are very well trained.

We visited here on 20/06/2019 after travelling from Whitby on the steam railway. We opted for a cream tea and it was beautiful! Fruit scones were lovely and soft, not heavy, lots of fruit in them, and the jam and cream was out of this world! We even asked for another scone to share! The decor is fabulous, and they serve their food on lovely floral plates. There are about 7 tables inside and a few outside. Staff are extremely friendly. Definitely recommend :)

Botham's, situated on Park Street, Pickering. Just over the road from the entrance to the NYMR Station entrance, is an excellent place for not only an afternoon tea, which my wife and I had but for all other daytime meals.

Called in for a light lunch earlier this week. We sat outside and had a sandwich each and one of their delicious home made scones. The bread, meat and salad was lovely and fresh - really enjoyable, washed down with a lovely pot of tea and a coffee served with hot milk. Would highly recommend this place - the service is excellent, in a very clean and inviting environment. We have been before for a take out and had their quiche, pasties, sausage rolls and truffles - absolutely delicious. Good high quality food at reasonable prices. Thank you very much. We will certainly be returning.

Booked the brewery tour package from Red Letter days. The tour was very informative with Josh being a fountain of knowledge and obviously loving brewing and beer. His witty remarks and low key humour really made the tour enjoyable. The beer tasting in the bar was flexible and offered a pint taken eith as a pint, two halves or a flight of 3, third pints to enable a range to be tried! Although a small brewery they have some quite advanced mechanisation for bottling, canning and casking! Very impressed,

A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

Decent choice of food available however we ordered pie mash Mushy peas and gravy. Only had 1 pie (so got a pasty as there was 2 of us) Mash was made from a jacket potato it was very lumpy tinned peas over blasted in the microwave served with a smile however forgot the gravy and it arrived half way through us eating the meal. Sadly this place could be a little gold mine if run correctly and proper attention to detail applied with the food. We hafmd our lunch at 12.15 so there was no way they could have ran out of mash? Could do better really

This cafe has been closed for months. There doesnt seem any sight of it reopening. I think the owner was having staff problems and suffering from unsympathetic reviews. We enjoyed our visits and good food. Shame
