Decent choice of food available however we ordered pie mash Mushy peas and gravy. Only had 1 pie (so got a pasty as there was 2 of us) Mash was made from a jacket potato it was very lumpy tinned peas over blasted in the microwave served with a smile however forgot the gravy and it arrived half way through us eating the meal. Sadly this place could be a little gold mine if run correctly and proper attention to detail applied with the food. We hafmd our lunch at 12.15 so there was no way they could have ran out of mash? Could do better really

Went in for lunch, a couple of tables outside and 3 tables upstairs. Quirky interior, with paintings and assorted crockery for sale. Attended to instantly, order placed and delivered to table quickly. Ordered home made quiche, what can I say to get across how perfect it was. Huge slice of totally delicious quiche, accompanied by large side salad, dressing ( gorgeous) and coleslaw. Poor front of house/waiter/cashier ( owner?) seemed rushed off his feet but was so pleasant and took time to chat. Totally 5 stars!!!

Having a Thursday wander around Pickering, (Staying in nearby forest cabin) we happened to find this quaint little cafe, we looked outside at what things in the window were on offer, and husband said shall we go here or that one back near the car park. Well I'm so glad we went here. Offered seating downstairs or up, we decided on up, we were given menus, offered to help ourselves to water while we decided, and given a little bell to ring when we were ready to order, just fantastic, really impressed that the menu offered, local bacon or local sausage or 2 local free range eggs, in sandwiches but the special addition was "All of the above" which is usually only done in cafés by special request, so we ordered 2 of the, all of the above, hubby and son and 1 double egg for other son, and I opted for the mushroom soup. Cream optional... Yes please... 3 tea's and Hot Chocolate for me, well why not. Sandwiches were amazing, huge, packed full and just lovely, soup is lovely home made, really tasty fresh crusty bread and butter, and hot choc, cream and marshmallows too. Can't go wrong. The bill was just over £15 which is a complete bargain. Looking forward to our next cabin break and now we definitely know where to be for lunch. Thanks so much, we will be back.

We called in at Pickering on our way up to the Dales and were pleased to find this cafe. There isn't much seating downstairs as space is tight, but we were warmly welcomed and two tables put together for our party of three. There is a room upstairs with additional seating. Even though the cafe was busy, we were quickly served. The only slight problem was the lack of vegetarian choice in quiches but that was worked round by me and my veggie companion sharing a cauliflower cheese quiche and baked potato and beans, which made a good compromise. Both were served with a good serving of salad with a choice of dressings. Had I just wanted a vegetarian snack, the savoury scones and other savoury snack items did look good. A take out menu is also available which is a good idea. Had I been on the way home I would have been tempted to take some scones with me!

I called in at Pickering with family and friends on our way to Rosedale. Our regular lunch stop was closed, so we went off exploring. So pleased to have found this friendly little place. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived and two tables were placed together for us so we could sit together comfortably. Finding a vegetarian lunch was a bit of a struggle (there was only one cauliflower gratin quiche left) but I settled for sharing one with the other vegetarian in our party, together with a baked potato and beans. The quiche was lovely and light and the potato good quality. Both were served with a generous portion of salad, with a choice of dressings. The downstairs space is limited, but there is a room upstairs, too.

We were on holiday in Whitby and on the one rainy day decided to spot a steam train and followed the train line down and have a grin round Pickering. We checked out several of the cafes and finished up at Cocoa. Husband is Coeliac so needed gluten free and was absolutely spoilt for choice. He really enjoyed his chorizo flan and I had a veggie roll which was delicious. I was going to follow it with treacle tart but was too full. It looked good so I took a slice home and I was glad I did. Friendly service, good food and pleasant view from the dining room upstairs. Highly recommended.

My wife and I went to "Pickering" in June This year ( 2019 ) and sat in the small park just across from "Cafe Cocoa". My wife went in to order some food and drink fully expecting to have to wait and then bring it over the road to the park. But "No", the owner told her to go back to where we were sitting in the park and he would bring it over, which he did. Great service and much appreciated by us, lovely people.

There are not a lot of tables so you may not always be able to get in, depending on the time of day. We visited at around 1.30pm on a Friday which was ok on this occasion. I had the cottage pie and mushy peas. My pie was homemade im sure, being full of meat and topped with potato and leek mash. It was tasty and very well presented. Having had a wander around pickering and past several eateries, we spotted this one across the green, what a great find and worth the effort of continuing part the others. Very attentive staff, lovely vintage feel to the interior, and the food, freshly made and delicious.

Having been camping for several days and woken up early, I was very hungry by the time we got to Pickering. Not fancying a greasy fry up, Cafe Cocoa offered a delicious and healthy omelette which really hit the spot! Not only was the food fresh and tasty, the coffee was very good and the service impeccable. We spent a good hour or so reading the paper and enjoying the atmosphere; a must visit if you fancy a very enjoyable pit stop!

Situated just past the church, came across Cafe Cocoa whilst on train trip from Whitby. Then stopped off for breakfast on way home. Really nice food and service both times. Would highly recommend- miss out the cafes in the main street and head here

Yes - they really do deliver your order across the road to the green! On a sunny day what a great way to have a light lunch - sitting on one of a number of park benches eating very generous sandwiches and watching the world and its dogs go by. Great stopping off place for lunch or for a break exploring the town.

We visited here and wrote a review in 2014 so being in need of a full breakfast early morning we called in again. Another warm friendly welcome and an excellent breakfast for both of us, next time we are going to call in later and try those fabulous looking home made cakes. Lets see if you remember us next time Graham.

Almost overlooked this place as it's not that big and it's just round the corner at the top of the main street but so glad we didn't. Downstairs is dog friendly and it has a good vegetarian selection. It's a nice day so we decided to go with the take out menu and sit in the park opposite. Owner said they had a few orders to process but would bring ours over the road to us when it was ready which I thought was very nice! When sandwiches arrived the ingredients were fresh, good quality and there was plenty of filling.Wonderful food and service, would go here again!

Popped in on our way to Whitby, a delightful little cafe in an old house. Polite and quick service backed up by delicious food. We had the home cooked quiche and jacket potato and they were incredibly tasty. A real little gem if you find yourself in Pickering.. Would definitely go there again x

Having ordered my courgette and pea soup in the cafe in went and sat on the green opposite. My soup was delivered in a disposable cup to my seat on the green, and it was delivered with a smile. Great soup! Great service!

I have been to this café about a year ago for Coffee and cakes, was impressed and this is a return visit. Hidden away in a side street, quaint and small, had the Ploughman's lunch platter(main course) which had everything, variety of cheese, chutney, pickled onions, pork pie, a veritable feast. I then had chocolate cake and a very good coffee. A very pleasant experience all round and when I next visit Pickering I will be calling again. We even got to sign the "book wall" .

Stumbled across Cafe Cocoa on a Sunday lunchtime. It is only a small place but has a good selection of lunches on the menu and also daily specials. They also offer a variety of coffee, I had the iced coffee and was given a choice of one or two shots of espresso (nice, as not everyone enjoys strong coffee). I had a vegetable roll with salad- spicy root vegetables and goats cheese; my friend had a special quiche with salad. The savoury roll and quiche were delicious. We asked for a glass of water with our lunch and were served it with ice. The staff were very attentive, courteous and friendly and I shall definitely return on my next visit to Pickering in August. The cakes looked delicious though we didn't sample any. I would recommend anyone to visit, whether for a meal, snack, drink or to buy there homemade cakes and pastries.

We were on our way to Dalby Forest and stopped off in Pickering for a quick lunch. What a lovely surprise to find this gem. Home cooked food, varied menu and great service. One of the best coffees I've had too. Will definitely add it to my list for future reference.....

Booked the brewery tour package from Red Letter days. The tour was very informative with Josh being a fountain of knowledge and obviously loving brewing and beer. His witty remarks and low key humour really made the tour enjoyable. The beer tasting in the bar was flexible and offered a pint taken eith as a pint, two halves or a flight of 3, third pints to enable a range to be tried! Although a small brewery they have some quite advanced mechanisation for bottling, canning and casking! Very impressed,

A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

This cafe has been closed for months. There doesnt seem any sight of it reopening. I think the owner was having staff problems and suffering from unsympathetic reviews. We enjoyed our visits and good food. Shame
