A very old fashioned tea room. Mismatched China and crochet blankets. Dogs welcome and good coffee and my husband enjoyed a generous blonde. Wasn’t keen on the smell of what was possibly vegetable soup lingering in the air, reminded me of school dinners. No vegan options as far as I could see.

We loved Ivy's Tea Rooms on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were also friendly and welcoming. It's a little bit quirky….in an excellent way and the Yorkshire tea and homemade cherry & fruit scone and Rollo cookie were delish. Would thoroughly recommend this little gem.

What a gorgeous little cafe, really warm welcome and lovely vibe. We had booked the afternoon tea and i have to say it’s one of the best I’ve had and great value for money. We were spoilt with the cakes and everything was just delicious. Will definitely be returning

The most amazing tea shop in Pickering. Delicious homemade food, including a good choice of gluten free. Had the most fabulous spinach, red pepper, cheese scones this morning. Could have eaten them all, so good! Ivy is helpful, kind and friendly and deserves to have flocks through her door. Very happy I've discovered this place. Please try it ☺

We love Ivy's there is a special kind of atmosphere, you will not always get a matching cup and saucer but you do get a very warm welcome and a great drink. The scones and cakes are some of the best in Pickering and the toasties are always filled to overflowing.

We went for lunch at this tea room which is family run, the food was very nice and the staff very efficient and friendly, we were tended by Ivy who was the young daughter of the mother who ran the tea room and she was really good with the customers while taking the orders, the tea room also does a deal for senior citizens well worth a visit.

We loved Ivy's Tea Rooms. We wanted to support a local independent café. The staff were friendly & welcoming. It's little bit quirky, in a good way & all the tables were taken by the time we left. The coffee's & homemade scones were delish. Would thoroughly recommend this little gem.

Visited this cafe with friends this afternoon and it was a very pleasant experience. The china teacups and saucers made the fifties experience along with some of the decor and music a place for reminiscing and also fun as you try to guess the singer. Would highly recommend this cafe as staff are so pleasant.

We live in Pickering and have always wanted to go here so today we went with friend’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We booked online and a reply came back straight away confirming the booking. The food was exceptional . A lovely tea room with a vintage feel. Staff friendly and helpful. We had sandwiches, pork pie, sausage roll with side salad and crisps. We all had a lemon posset and this was followed by rocky road, Bakewell slice, slice with a chocolate topping, shortbread and scones with cream and jam all washed down with a few cups of tea. We couldn’t eat it all and took home some of the cakes for later. Crockery was fine bone china, vintage cake forks. Definitely recommend and cannot wait to go again. The price was £17.00 a head and worth every penny for the quality of food. Treat yourself you won’t be disappointed.

Went in for a late lunch and caught it a little too late for hot food, but the cheese scone I ended up having was excellent. I had possibly the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted too, it was lovely. The people were friendly and helpful, and though they closed to newcomers while we were there, the woman running it all made sure to let us know how much time we had left (more than enough!). The prices were great, and the tea my friend had (which she enjoyed) was served in the cutest little tea pot that nestles inside the cup, so the cup is warmed before the tea is served. It's very comfortable and the tables are a really nice size. We definitely want to come back the next time we go to Pickering.

Just lovely. Great family running this clean, friendly, and imaginative tea room. They offer a wide range of sandwiches, large portion sizes, and delicious daily bakes - savoury and sweet. Our favourite offer are the afternoon tea boxes. So colourful, and packed with variety. We use them often for our Holiday Cottage guests.

Visited Pickering via the NYMR & were looking for somewhere for a bite to eat. We came across Ivy tea room after the first place we'd tried was short staffed & had no soup! We weren't disappointed with this choice, the family run cafe could not do enough to help. Once seated the menu arrived & the orders taken, one of our party had the Yorkshire pud wrap another had the mushroom soup & toastie & I opted for the afternoon tea. They were all delivered with a smile & tasted good. We had a pot of tea & a milkshake. Beware the afternoon tea has lots of delicious sandwiches, cakes & the cream scone all homemade some of which needed to be boxed up to takeaway. Would certainly recommend this tearoom.

We stayed for bed and breakfast here. The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting overlooking meadows. Hosts very friendly. Comfortable bedroom. The TV reception is scrambled and there is no phone signal - so I would recommend enabling WiFi calling on your phone and bring a book 😃

We chose the Middleton arms after seeing pictures of the gammon steak on Facebook, unfortunately this was sold out on the evening we went along with a few other dishes on the menu. I ordered the potato skins starter which came as a large portion which I enjoyed followed by Whitby scampi, this was average with frozen scampi. My wife had garlic mushrooms for starter which was okay, for main she had steak pie which she said was very nice.

Having been to the Stapleton Arms at Wass on many occasions and even been shown the bedrooms, 4 of us booked B&B and evening meals. I booked online 2 rooms. The 'Superior' room £150 per night and the other £100. However, we were not aware the venue had changed hands but it almost immediately became apparent. The stairs leading to the bedrooms looked very tierd and unhoovered. The landing and our bedroom stank of burnt fat and the rooms were very basic and on opening the wardrobe I found empty drink bottles. The door to the shower had black rising up it and the shower just ran like a tap.. Our meal was fine and our friends ordered a bottle of champagne which cost £70 which we were happy to pay but when the bill for the meal arrived it was altogether £340. They had even charged extra for a blob of icecream on my pudding as they said icecream was an extra. Next morning we met at breakfast only to discover that our friend staying in the 'Superior' room, one of whom is very seriously ill and this was supposed to be a treat during a break from treatment, found the shower was not working and they couldn't find a shaving ;point. Just to add insult to injury one of our party ordered a poached egg and when it arrived the toast was burnt black on the underside and my bacon was floating in fat. Had it not been for the fact that one of our party was very ill and we didn't want to make a fuss we paid up the bill and left. Not once did the manager ask us if everything was o.k. He was totally uninterested. What a nightmare stay. Never again, The next morning I phoned to speak to the owner but she was not at work but would ring me on the Thursday of that week. She never rang. I rang back a week later and was told the owner had been given my complaint and she would ring me but another weerk later I have received no response. I suppose she is £600 better off and we will never grace their doors again.
