Namaste Bengal in Ryedale

While looking for an Indian restaurant we came across this place, and after reading the positive reviews we decided to give it a try, and we were NOT disappointed. Beautiful atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Stunning food. Couldn't ask for anything better. Would love to return.

Excellent meal, good service and a reasonable price

Never have a bad meal here. Despite it being busy, the staff were always attentive, polite and helpful and the food is always absolutely gorgeous. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Nice place , food was ok , we usually leave quite a big tip , but was shocked when we received the bill with service charge already added on ! So no tip ! come on namaste this is not good practice you need to scrap this charge !

Honest this was one of the best curry’s I have had. My wife agreed, lots of flavour. Staff were amazing really friendly and helped with some kids options too. Honestly you will not be disappointed.

I had a delicious takeout from this restaurant that was truly a cut above most oily Indian takeouts that leave a lot to be desired. Try one of their chicken tikka curries you will not be disappointed. Great service and order on time without any fuss. Highly recommended for either dining in or a takeaway 🥡

Stumbled across this establishment by chance, on our travels and so pleased we did! The best Indian restaurant we have been to! Food, service, atmosphere excellent!

Thank you for a lovely meal. Food was exquisite and the staff are friendly and polite. The toilets could do with some air freshener but it is clear that work is being done to them. All in all a good experience and we will be back.

Utterly delicious and excellent quality, well cooked food. We travel from outside of Whitby for a takeout. Their service is also superb. Cannot rate more highly.

First time as we are dedicated spice 4 u going crowd! Food really good but we just picked wrong night with huge table including noisy kids dominated service. Won’t stop me going again though

On a four night stay in Pickering celebrating a birthday and wedding anniversary called in for a chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala service was excellent staff were polite and friendly meal was exceptional so very tasty wish we could enjoy another but the north east is too far away will have to return compliments to the chef and to you all Simply the best Indian meal ever!!

Booked a table (always good idea especially on a weekend) early evening 6pm was really busy but that doesn't faze these guys, who are experts at everything they do. The hospitality and service is tremendous 👏 always have time for a quick inquiry/chat of how are you , where you from etc.. which is really nice . We've been to this restaurant before (last time we stayed in Pickering) and because it was amazing we wanted to repeat the experience and tonight's meal didn't dissapoint it was fantastic 👌😀 superb flavours ,quality produce all of it (especially nan breads so light and fluffy ) and such friendly courteous happy staff . We had a Jalfrezi each (duck & chicken tikka) Tandoori mixed kebab sizzling starter each was stupendous!!!

My partner and I visited last year and agreed it was one of the best curries wed ever had (not THE best, but definitely up there) and so we came again when we visited pickering this year with our dog. We went in without a reservation and were greeted warmly by one of the staff, we were served by 3 staff members during the meal and each was very friendly, polite and attentive. I tried a curry id never heard of before (cant remember the name) and it was delicious, I like how you can tweak the level of spice to your desired level and the naan was also great. Portions werent huge but still enough to feel satisfied and we were given a free shot of limoncello and baileys with the bill. A service charge is added on which is fine, my one small issue is that we were offered popadoms whilst decided on our order which sounded like they were going to be free however they were added onto the bill. Not a massive issue, the food was still delicious and i feel value for money and great service. We will definitely be back again next year

Stale poppadoms, wilted salad , mains Ok ish. 2 mains + one rice, one small beer and a coke £ 56 expensive and not up to a good standard. Prices on website appear to be for takeout . Expect to pay a minimum of + 40% on website prices.

One of the best Indian restaurant meals we have ever had. Akil was very knowledgeable about the menu. A lamb buriani, moonlight chicken and the mincemeat and vegetable main my wife had were all excellent. The poppadoms came with multiple dips, the lime pickle was superb. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic place to eat. We had a table of 4 pre-booked for fathers day after a day golfing what a treat we had here. Our Starters where cracking. All the 4 mains where the best we have ever had with sides and breads. The staff are amazing really helpfull and all had a laugh and joke with us. The owner came and sat with us and told us abit about how the restaurant had grown and you can see why. Will we come back he said all 4 of us said yes 100%. Amazing food . The flavours were just fantastic the rice was fluffy and light the Nan bread was to die for the best bit was the curry part just never had a curry so tasty and fresh. Exceptional food, service and atmosphere for our large group booking. Just what was needed after a long day at work for us all.

Order was missing a pickle tray, only £2.50, but with only one tray between 5 people didn’t get as much per person.

Having read other Tripadvisor reviews, we chose the Namaste Bengal for a special wedding anniversary dinner, and we were absolutely delighted with our choice!! The service was attentive, the menu mouth-watering, and the emal itself was absolutely wonderful - so beautifully presented, the tastes were exotic and the food so well prepared. We were visiting the area, but if we lived close by, this would certainly be 'a go-to'!!

In Pickering for a couple of nights away during half term holidays, Namaste Bengal was recommended by hotel staff, the food really was spot on, they could accommodate us as we hadn’t booked and busy for a Tuesday night in the hols, all reasonably priced and the staff were really hard working. Would totally recommend 👍🏻

Just had dinner at Namaste Bengal in Pickering and I can confirm that the service and food is excellent. Especially enjoyed the complimentary chocolate and Baileys at the end. Would definitely recommend.

This is a class restaurant. The food is perfectly cooked and plentiful. The service is excellent and professional. The menu is a tad expensive but you get what you paid for. The only grouses: 1. The dishes aren't presented on tea candle stands so the temperature of the dishes does tail off quite quickly. 2. The service charge (the amount of which is justifiable) is added within the list of items ordered, not at the end. Not sure if this is to 'hide' the fact it's been already added but an odd practice and not necessary. We shall definitely be making a return visit when next in Pickering and can thoroughly recommend it.

We called at the Namaste friday evening when we stopped off in Pickering, must say the menu was very varied with loads of options inc veg etc we were really spoilt for choice I had a lamb dish and my wife a chicken dish, the food was excellent !!!! super flavour . We went here three years ago and was very impressed but how things change! We were met with an abrupt welcome and was told to ‘sit over there’ - no welcomes and it felt like we weren’t expected even though we booked. The £16 combo starter is a con - we each had a bland golf ball sized bhaji, a couple pieces of meat which were more fat and gristle and breaded potatoes which had no flavour. The meat in the main courses was very overcooked and chewy. The worst thing was the service. We were cleverly upsold 2 poppadums when ordering and the waiter said ‘with pickles’ and we said yes. Little did we know we’d get a 6 pots of pickle and were charged £4 for it. I said twice I felt we were misled and I didn’t want to pay all that for 2 poppadums, but both times the waiters just argued with me. Poor customer service and not willing to address issues. Then they had the cheek to add a service charge which was not obvious on the menu! This place was half empty at 8.30pm on a Saturday night - speaks volumes.

This was our first visit to this restaurant despite living locally. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and helpful & the food excellent with plenty of choice.

Pickering No1 Indian Restaurant, Authentic indian good with a burst of flavours and all freshly prepared. Restaurant is clean, Staff are well dressed and very helpful, nothing is too much to ask for and always willing to help whether it be a query regarding the menu or a general question. Food was loved by all and to top it of we got offered a complimentary drink at the end of our meal. Absolutely amazing, one of the best indians we’ve visited and will definitely visit again when in the area. Thank you for the hospitality 5⭐️

Sorry did not like the food here, the staff are lovely and the restaurant is pleasant but the food was very disappointing and over priced, we can up for the weekend last night from Manchester and popped in around 8pm, the starters didn't have any taste they are very bland we had lamb chops and chicken chaat which tasted very much of curry powder and not much else, the chicken fingers or whatever they were was dry and tasteless the yoghurt sauce was the same with each single dish no different sauces, the mains all had a herb on them, the garlic bread had it the rice had it the curry had it Ive never never eaten food that has the same taste no matter what dish my lamb balti was the same as my partners lamb kharai we eat all over and would not recommend this place to anybody or ever return, £144 wasn't cheap either for plates full of food which we left as they were tasteless and poor quality i wouldnt recommend you go here if you like a good curry!! As these guys clearly don't know how to provide one!

Worst Indian food I ever had in such a beautiful restaurant. The restaurant itself looks pretty nice. Staff were friendly and helpful but the food was poor. I know Bengali/Indian food really well but this food is way too bad. The portion was small. All the curries were dry. Barely got any sauce to have my breads. The onion bhaji were undercooked. Tarka Dal was too small for the price of £6.95. Overpriced for other foods aswell. Overall a bad experience.

This was our second meal here as we ate here last time we visited Pickering and remember it being good food and excellent service, again we were not disappointed. Visited Namaste Bengal while staying in a holiday cottage in Pickering last week, after seeing recommendations in the accommodation guide book and Trip Advisor. The restaurant seems very popular and was more or less full when we visited on a Thursday evening so it's a good idea to book a table. There was a good choice on the menu with some interesting chef's specials. Our choices included a deliciously spicy Garlic Chilli Chicken and a much milder Shashlick Paneer. All our menu choices were very nice and portion sizes were OK. The service was great and the staff very friendly. We'd definitely visit again, next time we're staying in the Pickering area.
