Whenever I visit my parents we almost always have Sunday lunch at The George. Never had a bad meal. Great choice of starters, mains and puds. The roasts are delicious and served with plenty of gravy and veg. My favourite dessert is sticky toffee pudding, it's so light and moist. The food is also great value for money. It cost us Ā£20 a head including a tip. They're happy for adults with smaller appetites to choose from the children's menu.

Popped in here on an ad-hoc detour to get something to eat & drink (5pm ish). Building looked like an old fashioned type of place and advertised food outside the front door. Parking in the old stable courtyard around the back. Tight bar, low ceilings but offered good ales. The chef spotted as and told us that if we wanted food, Stew and Dumplings were fresh and a special of the day. Very much a locals pub, bar flies were friendly, TV on with no sound (News) and best of all. NO MUSIC and could have a conversion without shouting over any noise. Grub was bang on (Stew, dumplings, mash and veg) and a massive portion. Ā£8 quid. Mrs. had Scampi, a mountain of chips and a lorry load of peas which she said was really good. Also Ā£8 quid. Great pub, great grub, well poured beer and nice welcome surroundings. Rough and ready, no frills good honest place.

Delicious Sunday lunch at this lovely country pub! Beef was delicious, vegetables were perfectly al-dente, roast potatoes to die for, lovely sized Yorkshire pud (light as a feather), creamy delicious mash and crispy stuffing , all topped off with thick, tasty gravy. Proper food in a lovely environment. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Visited with friends for lunch. Meal was OK,but received no milk with hot drinks. Went to ask for some, staff didn't speak, seemed quite disgruntled about it. Lots of tables were not cleared during our time there, including ours. Cakes very over priced,so didn't purchase. Ā£3.99 for a small brownie,Ā£2.99 for a small egg custard. Won't be rushing back. Think they need to employ more staff at lunchtime.

My wife and I had breakfast. She had the journey man I had the head gardener, which had an extra hash brown, sausage, slice of bacon and egg. The food was very tasty and beautifully cooked. The staff and owner were polite, helpful, friendly and welcoming. We will be visiting again. Thank you.

Just lovely in everyway! We stopped here on our way back to Wales from a holiday in the area. Until we visited Shipley's we had endured thoroughly crap food on our holibob, we had high hopes.... At first I was worried as despite saying on the tinternet they were a dog friendly establishment they weren't too keen on our two pouches. I could understand it's a small place and though our dogs are not big, it was busy. At first we sat outside, cold. But one of the waitresses noticed how obedient our little muppets were and invited us inside, explaining some of the regulars can get a bit funny about dogs, but they are all dog lovers. Our beauts obviously won over the staff! Inside it was like being in my nans living room...and the place has that feel of being at your nans house, which is lovely. We opted for the Afternoon Tea with bottomless Tea... And it was .......GORGEOUS. It is very rare that you find a coffee shop or tea room atm that actually has freshly prepared and not mass produced cakes. Cakes that actually have some flavour! We opted for the large afternoon tea, being fatties we were ready to feast... it came with 4 slices of cake, and there was a quite the selection to choose from. We went for white chocolate and raspberry, lemon drizzle, chocolate and cherry bakewell tart. it also came with scones, again a choice, we had cherry bakewell and traditional fruit, but there were also cinnamon and apple and ginger!? ...AMAZING Then we both chose two flavours of finger sandwich, and the Afternoon tea also came with bite size quiches (also of different flavours) sausage rolls and I think a scotch egg! The cakes were all very light, fluffy and moreish, the scones crumbly, the sandwiches dainty. Most surprisingly to me they had chai tea, for my bottomless tea which not alot of independent coffee shops have. We were amazingly well and the staff are all lovely and came to fuss over us ( mostly the dogs) and make sure we were enjoying our food. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Despite being fatties we couldn't finish our afternoon tea and went home happily with two cakes! Go, its lovely
