Just lovely in everyway! We stopped here on our way back to Wales from a holiday in the area. Until we visited Shipley's we had endured thoroughly crap food on our holibob, we had high hopes.... At first I was worried as despite saying on the tinternet they were a dog friendly establishment they weren't too keen on our two pouches. I could understand it's a small place and though our dogs are not big, it was busy. At first we sat outside, cold. But one of the waitresses noticed how obedient our little muppets were and invited us inside, explaining some of the regulars can get a bit funny about dogs, but they are all dog lovers. Our beauts obviously won over the staff! Inside it was like being in my nans living room...and the place has that feel of being at your nans house, which is lovely. We opted for the Afternoon Tea with bottomless Tea... And it was .......GORGEOUS. It is very rare that you find a coffee shop or tea room atm that actually has freshly prepared and not mass produced cakes. Cakes that actually have some flavour! We opted for the large afternoon tea, being fatties we were ready to feast... it came with 4 slices of cake, and there was a quite the selection to choose from. We went for white chocolate and raspberry, lemon drizzle, chocolate and cherry bakewell tart. it also came with scones, again a choice, we had cherry bakewell and traditional fruit, but there were also cinnamon and apple and ginger!? ...AMAZING Then we both chose two flavours of finger sandwich, and the Afternoon tea also came with bite size quiches (also of different flavours) sausage rolls and I think a scotch egg! The cakes were all very light, fluffy and moreish, the scones crumbly, the sandwiches dainty. Most surprisingly to me they had chai tea, for my bottomless tea which not alot of independent coffee shops have. We were amazingly well and the staff are all lovely and came to fuss over us ( mostly the dogs) and make sure we were enjoying our food. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Despite being fatties we couldn't finish our afternoon tea and went home happily with two cakes! Go, its lovely

We had coffee and cakes at Shipley’s Curiositeas today. This lovely tearoom is decorated in a 1950’s style with lots of quirky objects d’art! We chose to sample carrot cake, blood orange cake, Bakewell tart and blueberry and lemon cake together with coffee and tea. Everything was delicious and the friendly waitresses looked after us admirably!

Bit of a rip off, paid £18 per person to get 1 afternoon tea (which was quite small) between 4 people. Definitely not worth £72 for an afternoon tea. Didn’t really accommodate for dietary requirements when they knew we needed a tea without any egg or fish on - mentioned this and they said they just did a mix of everything on all plates. Food was really nice, but wouldn’t recommend for the price. Left very hungry and a bit disappointed too as we’d had it booked for a special birthday for months.

First time we visited, seen the little cafe before on passing and so as it was my birthday I requested husband to take me for tea and cake as it is my favourite thing to do! We were met by a pleasant lady who directed us to a free table, obviously a popular place as some tables were reserved. We ordered tea and cake and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Service was pleasant and polite with friendly staff. The tea and cake was brought out very swiftly and we were left to enjoy with a big pot of tea so we were happy! We were not rushed and enjoyed the ambience of the place with lovely 1940s music in the background with British flag table cloths and bunting it was delightful! We will return. They do ask you to pay by cash due to card charges but as we didn’t have cash staff were still happy to accept card. Very clean also.

From the offset I was uncomfortable with how tiny the place was inside, with hardly any room to move between tables. The girls were unfriendly and rather rude when I enquired about the quiche. They were bickering between each other. I found their whole attitude unprofessional and this gave Me a bad impression from the offset. The lunch itself was mediocre at best. When the waitress came to the table to pay, I told her to add a tip but was greeted with neither a smile nor a thank you. Definitely will not be returning. Expect much more professionalism from staff. Very disappointed, as had heard great things about this place. I am only rating it a 2 as I liked the decor and China teacups!!!

Brought my mum here for Mothers Day, booked the afternoon tea with a complementary glass of prosecco for Mum. The staff are extremely friendly and tentative, the tearoom is very quaint with beautiful matching cups, saucers and teapots. Afternoon tea was beautiful, the sandwiches were so fresh, the scone is one of the best I have had and the little starters (mackerel, chicken & tarragon and creamy mushroom) were simply delicious. Loved the lemon drizzle cake, my only slight comment would be having 4 desserts and two of them were chocolate, chocolate brownie and chocolate mousse. I'm not a chocolate pudding fan so unfortunately left these but that's just my taste, for chocolate lovers out there it would be heaven. Never been before, but I believe this is now my new go to when out and about in Brigg..............can't wait to revisit

We moved from the Brigg area several years ago but had used Shipleys all the time when we lived there. Returning for a shopping expedition a few days ago, we decided to re-visit. It was as delightful and welcoming as ever. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff terrific and the array of home made cakes amazing. We had Cappuccinos and cakes and they were absolutely delicious. Shipleys is the ONLY dog friendly cafe in Brigg and the owner remembered us and our dog and brought him a biscuit which he enjoyed and he is generally very fussy with treats. It was really nice to re-visit and find the cafe as enjoyable as we remembered. I cannot recommend Shipleys highly enough !

I've had a lot of afternoon teas over the past 10 yrs, so was looking forward to trying this one after recently moving into the area, and especially because of the really good reviews. We visited on the first day that all restaurants opened back up after lockdown, and the place was busy. The first thing was where we were situated - right near the till where people pay. I didn't like this, and felt like it was an invasion of privacy, especially due to how close people are stood behind you. The other thing I noticed was this place was looking a bit shabby, and what baffles me is how long these business' have been locked down for, and yet they didn't use the time wisely and give their premises a lick of paint. Just my personal opinion but! Sandwiches were nice, we were able to pick from 2 fillings. There was also a thin slice of a lincolnshire sausage roll on there which was also lovely. A range of scone flavours to pick from, which also made a change (I think mine was rhubard and ginger?). You also get to pick your slice of cake (around 5 to pick from). This cake was a let down for me, it tasted dry, and like it had been made several days prior. Service was perfect with several friendly ladies running the show. The experience was ok, and I would probably come again, but definitely wouldn't rush back.

Shipleys Curiositeas is one of those rare places that you stumble upon by accident and then cannot forget about. I don’t know what was more memorable, the delicious cakes on offer, the unusual gins, or the really excellent service. We were visiting Brigg for the day and all I wanted was an earl grey to take out. I got all that and more at Shipleys, and the ladies within were polite, friendly, funny and just delightful. The prices are so reasonable too! The Decor really appealed to me, vintage, eclectic, curious. If you are in Lincolnshire then make a detour and visit this wonderful establishment. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely return.

Although it was roastingly hot outside, the tea shop was (fortunately) cooler. We had reserved a table for the Large Afternoon Tea and were seated in the 'second' room, furthest from the serving counter (although the venue is tiny, this 'second' room seemed much more serene and calm than the first room. Much to our surprise, we were offered a CHOICE of which flavour finger sandwiches to have (huge selection) AND which flavour of scone to have (again huge selection) AND which cakes to have (yet again a huge selection). Service was polite, smiling, friendly and welcoming. Venue seemed to be spotlessly clean and MASSIVE amounts of food, fresh and well presented. Very comfortable surroundings - almost like being in a friend's house - with no pressure to finish and leave quickly. Very reasonably priced and a perfect way to wile away a few hours.

We visited Brigg for the first time on 29.11.19, the 2 of us and our well behaved miniature poodle. It was a very cold day and we were looking forward to having drinks & cakes, having walked from the bottom of the high street looking for a cafe we were extremely disappointed to find that all the establishments would not accommodate myself (wheelchair user) and the dog. At the point of giving up and buying take-away food & drink to consume in the car we saw 'Shipley's Curiosities'Having ascertained that we could enter with the dog and the building was accessible we went in and were made most welcome. The cafe is physically in two areas,as we had a dog we were asked to sit in the area furthest from the food presentation/ordering point. The cafe has a 1940's theme, this made a pleasant change from the usual corporate image/atmosphere in many cafes these days. The staff were attentive and very friendly, the food and drink excellent and value for money. I can thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Myself, mum and sister kindly got bought vouchers for the large afternoon tea at this little tearoom. Lady that served us was lovely and explained how the options worked. Sandwiches were lovely and we had a variety of choices.and were presented well. We then had a choice of scone- we had plumb and apple and blueberry and white chocolate......the best scones I have ever tasted! Then two choices of cake which we were that full we took home! Cakes were home-baked and amazingly moist. I would of given 5/5 for this lovely little tearoom ,however it does need a lick of paint and looked a little tatty in places. After reading the reviews on dogs being allowed in this tearoom and many reviews low due to this I think that it is lovely for them to be dog friendly! Overall a wonderful afternoon thank-you.

After reading reviews I was looking forward to visiting this tea room for lunch recently. It is very small inside with around seven tables. Not surprisingly my friends and I were shocked when a couple walked in with a large dog!. This animal was wondering around and the owners did not stop it. The staff ignored the fact it was not sat down and you could smell it which put us off our food. I think the owner needs to assess this situation as it is unhygienic and unacceptable. Went here today during our 10 year wedding anniversary trip away and believe me we were not disappointed. We opted for the large afternoon tea priced at £26 per couple and worth every penny the choice of fillings for the sandwiches were really good and tasted so nice and everything was made fresh to order. We got a choice of 4 different sandwich filings along with a piece of sausage roll each and scotch egg again both own made superb flavours. Now to the cakes 3 choices each person yes 6 cakes between 2 people plus there are scones to come too. Anyway we both opted for the pina colada cheesecake oh my lord this was to die for then i had dime bar cake then the wife chose the rest which were carrot cake a sherry trifle and a caramac cake all the cakes were cut into slices but the trifle was served in a tea cup all of three cakes were so tasty even though e took some home to eat as we were busting lol. Finally the scones the wife opted for cherry and coconut whilst i went for the raspberry and white chocolate chunk again these were both mouth watering as we cut in half and shared then our pallets were left watering with all the delicious flavours which we washed down with unlimited tea and coffee. I have had lots of afternoon teas from all over but this 1 was the best by far and i have to say i was totally impressed with the decor and the staff who were all very welcoming and kind to their customers. Would deffo come here again even though from lincoln but worth the journey and made our anniversary outting a lot better. 1 last thing the person who baked all the cakes is worth her weight in gold by heck she knows a good cheesecake and cake when she makes 1 well done to you all x ❤

I occasionally visit this charming tea room when I am in Brigg on a Saturday morning. It is beautifully decorated to resemble the 1940's with music from that era playing in the background. The sandwiches are made with the freshest bread in white, brown or seeded with a large choice of fillings served with coleslaw or crisps and mini salad, home made cakes fill the counter and are delicious. Filter coffee is served in individual silver coffee pots and the cream teas look lovely. They serve salads and home made quiche as well, all is excellent value for money. I have taken my elderly Mother there and on another occasion my friend with her toddler, there is always a mixture of age groups as they cater for everybody. A different experience at Shipleys who provide an old fashioned tea room. The ladies make every variation on scones and every variation on cakes. Utterley delicious. So with delicate china, a proper china pot of tea or coffee, and background music from Sinatra to Glen Miller, from Dean Martin to Doris Day, the atmosphere is a favourite of mine. The ladies should be rightly proud of their tea shop which gives Brigg market town visitors a tea shop to enjoy.

To get here I'd the easiest place of all places. Within Brigg centre, there is amble parking and within 50 metres is the tea room. Inside the decor is pretty amazing. From the cosy front room feel, to old kitchen/bakery ambience it works like a charm. There are around 8 to 10 tables ranging for groups from 2 to 5 people, all delicately decorated with vintage table cloths, table numbers and the most important, the quirky yet vintage tea pots/cups. We are a firm believer that tea tastes so much better from a tea pot. Once sat down, we had a look at the menu, which have items ranging from sandwiches, paninis, baguettes, a range of teas, filtered coffee and delicious cakes. All of the prices are pretty cheap compared to the quality of the product (I told them to put their prices up a little!) the selection of cakes can be seen on the victoriana style counter and a daily cakes/scone board can be seen from all angles of the tearoom. The most important and must have menu item to choose at a place like this is the afternoon tea. We always go for the large at £25 to £30, which in itself is an experience. With this there are a selection of 4 sandwiches, 8 pieces of cake, (yes that's right, 8 pieces!) 2 scones with strawberry jam and cream, slices of warm sausage roll and scotch egg and a large vintage pot of tea (milk on the side) with cups and saucers. We sometimes opt for switching some pieces of cake for more sandwiches. The atmosphere and staff are amazing and it is always busy. A delightful experience that one must try. A++

love this tea room. visited today and as always it didn't disappoint. The cakes where lush - strawberry and white chocolate was fab , but the raspberry and rose was to die for and the lemon cake was excellent.

Eat in or takeaway! Whichever you choose, you will get fresh yummy food & great service! We had an egg sandwich & chicken mayo, both with side salad garnish, the bread was so squishy & scrummy! We also had a lovely fresh scone (The best I've ever had!), a piece of Victoria sandwich cake with white chocolate & strawberries. It looked & tasted beautiful! "delicious!

Fabulous afternoon tea at this lovely, quaint little tea room. Lots of choice of delicious cakes and scones. I had the gluten free afternoon tea and it was delicious with a good variety of cakes and soft gluten free bread and a piece of quiche. Price was extremely reasonable and staff were very friendly and helpful. A definite must visit.

My mother books a table for afternoon tea. Unfortunately this seems to come as a surprise to the tea rooms. We did finally get a table. The afternoon tea was lovely, although rather cake heavy, some more savoury items would help the balance. They also got the order wrong. Lovely, lovely scones and a great choice, and a lovely place to pop in for tea too.

Visited twice now and each time greeted with a friendly welcome and amazing food. Enjoyed lunch with my mum on my first visit. The Bakewell was freshly baked and even still warm. On my second visit I took my friend along for a cheeky cake treat. The Trio of cakes is amazing value. Yet again the Bakewell was superb! And the staff all friendly and welcoming!

I visited Shipley's with my mum last month. I have previously had the afternoon tea here which is delicious but this time we decided to try the slimming world meal of the day which was a lovely cottage pie topped with sweet potato mash (and synn free) washed down with a lovely pot of tea. I would highly recommend visiting even if you are eating healthily as there are plenty of tasty options! I will definitely be returning.

I've been to the very overpriced Betty's tea rooms many times and others but I have to say this has been my favourite experience so far with such lovely well presented good home made cakes and food and relaxed surroundings. I took a friend and treated us to a £15 (for two) afternoon tea, not only did we get four finger sandwiches each which we chose from the menu but also a choice of scone with jam and cream and a choice of cake each from the many daily specials on offer. It was presented beautifully with unlimited tea/coffee and served by friendly staff. Thank you to the staff for providing a lovely experience in relaxed pleasant surroundings, I shall be returning and spreading the word.Kind regardsEmma

I went here just before Christmas with two friends for lunch. We ordered the large afternoon tea for two people which had a selection of sandwiches, scotch egg, sausage rolls, three types of cake each & clotted cream scone. This also included unlimited tea or coffee & was priced at £24 for two. I ordered soup & sandwich with a cherry & coconut scone with tea. This cost around £8 altogether. The place is very quaint with lots of interesting decoration. It's fairly small inside, but very cosy & welcoming. The staff were all friendly & very welcoming, very eager to explain the menu. The cakes & scones were the best I've ever tasted. All the food is homemade & was delicious! We will definitely be going back here soon.

Booked to have my little girls 10th birthday tea party here. My two daughters (9 and 12) and two 9 yr old friends, had a table to themselves whilst my grown up daughter and I sat at another table a little distance away, so we were close enough to monitor proceedings, without interfering. The four girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves and demolished a generous and tasty selection of brown and white sandwiches (the girls were asked what bread they wanted), a slice of cake each, a cupcake each AND a scone each, all brought in on a tree tiered afternoon tea stand. Jam and cream for the scones were served in separate dishes, to let them help themselves. My eldest daughter and I had the small appetite selection which included a half sandwich with crisps or coleslaw, a slice of cake and pot of tea or coffee for just £4.50 each. We both chose coffee which was served in a cafetierre. The food and coffee were delicious. This tea shop is quaint, warm and welcoming with friendly staff and decorated in an Alice in Wonderland style. It is well worth a visit and in the relatively short time it has been open, it has become a firm favourite and has gained a well deserved reputation for excellence.

Chose this tea room from the "Tea Pot Trail" booklet. The food looked nicely presented and plentiful, the cakes and scones looked delicious but sadly we never got to taste them since our order had been forgotten. My guess is the owners are new and a little overwhelmed on a busy Saturday, so it might take time for them to get up to speed. so do give them a chance. As an ex-tea room owner, running a tea room takes military organisation, Hamilton's speed, British Bake off worthy food and friendly staff. It's not as easy as people think it is, especially following someone's footsteps..The friendly staff they had but definitely need to be much better organised.

Really sad to have visited only a week after new owners have taken over to find quality is not the same. Immediately noticed the change in the bread ( now like any other cafe in brigg ) Roast ham very salty .This has been my favourite since it opened never been salty before . Please please do not change the scones and cake ( especially the cheese ones) Bought an afternoon tea as a present just before last owner left so hope things are back to normal before friends use it as I told them how wonderful it was . I am a weekly visitior and have recommended it to many friends and work colleagues so don't let me down. Just a mention to the staff working there always polite , have there own distinct dress and personality and have helped shape the shop into something with that extra something special ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

Having read the reviews we had high expectations before coming here..The decor is lovely; however we were hugely disappointed in the dried up/stale cake and lack of customer service. The sandwiches were pleasant enough but have had much better else where! Won't be returning.

We called in on the off chance this afternoon whilst in Brigg. The tea room is decorated in a 1940s nostalgia style with deliberately mismatched crockery and linen typical of the era which really adds to its charm. The service was swift and personal and the menu was inviting with lots of different cakes and sandwiches on offer. My hubby and I had a Plowmans and the home-made quiche, both were exceptional value. We will be visiting again for afternoon tea which priced at £15 per couple is more than good value.

We had a lovely lunch today at Shipley's Curiositeas. This is a very pleasant tea room on the main shopping street in Brigg, decorated in shabby chic style and specialising in hone mada cakes, scones and especially, afternoon teas.My daughter and I sandwiches served with salad and either crisps or coleslaw, and my partner had a ploughman' lunch with ham, cheeses, pork pie and scotch egg. With finished with scones and cream - what a lovely treat! Many thanks to the hardworking staff, we had a great time!

It is very refreshing to be able to order afternoon tea during the lunch period especially without having to pre-book.My wife and I visited Friday lunchtime and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor is just right with appropriate music in the background. We ordered the large afternoon tea and it was delicious accompanied with endless pots of tea. The mix of sandwiches were spot on as were the cakes. At the end we had to take the scones home as we were too full to do them justice.A lovely place and one of the treasures of Brigg.

Popped in here on an ad-hoc detour to get something to eat & drink (5pm ish). Building looked like an old fashioned type of place and advertised food outside the front door. Parking in the old stable courtyard around the back. Tight bar, low ceilings but offered good ales. The chef spotted as and told us that if we wanted food, Stew and Dumplings were fresh and a special of the day. Very much a locals pub, bar flies were friendly, TV on with no sound (News) and best of all. NO MUSIC and could have a conversion without shouting over any noise. Grub was bang on (Stew, dumplings, mash and veg) and a massive portion. £8 quid. Mrs. had Scampi, a mountain of chips and a lorry load of peas which she said was really good. Also £8 quid. Great pub, great grub, well poured beer and nice welcome surroundings. Rough and ready, no frills good honest place.

A busy place for golfers in a great location. Lots of parking in a spacious car park. Accessible for everyone. The club house is fantastic with food and drink available for those who want it, including friendly staff members. Fantastic views of the course from the club house. Looking forward to my next visit.

The phone number is defunct and the venue is completely shut despite it being in the middle of their published hours. I suspect that it has closed down.

A little disappointed really, service was really good, but the food average - ordered the chicken kebab which was just okay, not brilliant. But the most disappointing aspect was ordering our dessert, but as we were after 9pm the kitchen had closed. We were late diners, arrived at 8.15 but when we ordered our main we mention we would like a dessert so when we were faced ordering and told, sorry the kitchen is now closed, we were left very disappointed indeed - not good really as the staff should have really come to us, but didn't. Ho hum - we dined out the second evening, great meal locally, far superior food and service.

Drinks and service good One vegan option which is ‘Korean tacos’ - note they are not tacos they are deconstructed. No real substance that would be worth £20! Not worth it for the vegan options but drinks and service good.
