I visited this place with a friend for lunch. Our first impressions were not great. We walked in an both staff that were there ignored us. No hello, no ‘would you like a table’, not even a smile. I saw them acting the same way with us too. We sat for at least 10 minutes before anyone even gave us a menu. We were just sat confused, wondering whether we just ordered from the menu on the boards??? Both my friend and I ordered mushroom & Brie quiche with chips. We both enjoyed our meals. The quiche was very tasty & the homemade chips were delicious. The meal was £9.95 but definitely worth it, it was a decent size and tasty. We both ordered desert, Victoria sponge and also peach & almond tart. The cake was average and the tart was just okay. It was peachy, but I couldn’t taste any hint of almond. I did want a cream scone, but decided against it when I realised it was whipped cream instead of clotted. The interior of this place was fairly nice & main meal tasty. But customer service needs improving & definitely clotted cream with scones!

Have just spent a truly delightful evening in the lovely village of Epworth at the Mad Hatty’s Wine Bar … cleverly reinvented from Hatty’s Tea Room for post witching hour sipping, chatting & grazing. Not particularly busy tonight, which is surprising … people of Epworth, get down there and support this hidden gem! We were greeted by a bubbly member of staff who turned out to be bartender, cocktail mixologist, waitress and window art artist! Fantastic, cool vibe with great decor, feature foliage wall and a stonking music playlist of disco, soul & 80s classics ‘all night long’ - curated by ‘disco queen’ owner Kirsty. The rainbow wonderland of opening cocktails were delicious - Appletini, Cosmo, Rum Maple and Mai Tai - were among the zingy little numbers to kick start our evening. Sharing platters followed with a splendid array of locally sourced fromagery and charcuterie, crackers, walnuts and chutney - complemented by some beautifully focaccia! We washed this down with some yummy, plummy, brambly Portuguese Dao Prunus red vino and an equally juicy quaffable CabSauv. Samantha the multi-talented waitress was on hand to top up the crackers if need be and share some morsels of wisdom about the Masterchef charcuterie suppliers - Dhruv Baker and Tom Whitaker. With more retro tunes playing than Gary Davies, delicious nibble boards and fab-u-lous wine and cocktails, Mad Hatty’s Wine Bar is a real treat for night out in Epworth. Bravo to owner Kirsty and team-mate Samantha for looking after us so well. We’ll be back!

I took my mother for afternoon tea at Hatty’s. I am a bit of a coffee snob and was pleased to find that the coffee they used was of high quality and not the cheap stuff you come to find in other establishments. The cakes and pastries were fresh and the service and atmosphere second to none. I would wholeheartedly recommend this privately run tearoom to anyone living or passing through Epworth. Thank you for making our visit memorable. Great value and service with a smile. See you soon!

I don't know if it was hand made or not, but it was dry and not chocolatey enough for what it was. There was a slither of flake on it. My husband had a cheesecake which wasnt bad at all. This was our second visit to Hatties, no complaints about the quality of afternoon tea we had pre/booked. We were a large group so appreciate that it isn’t always easy for everything to go smoothly. We had to ask for tea and coffee (the last time we were provided with pots of both very quickly). I personally only had 2 coffees, one in a non China cup and one from a jug that eventually arrived after we had finished eating. One of our group clarified that a cafietere of coffee was included, we also assumed that our first non alcoholic drink was included. It would have helped if we had been told what was excluded I.e. fragrance teas, juice, filter coffee etc.

Tea was served in a china teapot and cup, along with tea strainer. It was a lovely cuppa accompanied by a delicious quiche with salad and new potatoes. The salad could have been a bit more interesting and needed a dressing on the side but this didn’t spoil the overall taste. The cakes looked exceedingly good, will return to try a slice.

We live about 55 miles from Hatty's but have visited on average 3 times a year for the past few years as it's a convenient place to meet up with a friend to catch up over a bite to eat. The food is good quality, and home made by the co-owner's husband but we have never left feeling we have had good value for money, which is a shame, as we visit other places near to where we live and feel we do get good value (even though some of the dishes are more expensive than at Hatty's). Whatever we seem to order comes with a full plate, but most of it is salad to 'bulk it out' - the impression given is that you are charged a high price but the cost of the food itself is very low. For example, I ordered Welsh rarebit today, and the rarebit (which had little flavour) was spread very thinly on a couple of slices of toast buried under a mound of salad; the menu did not state that it came with salad but salad occupied about 80% of the plate. Also, we are consistently served very small wedges of cake for dessert, smaller than anywhere else we have visited to eat over the years. On our visit today, the weather was sunny but not too hot outside (around 18 centigrade) but it was boiling hot inside and several customers complained about the heat. There is an air conditioning unit and it was on, but it was throwing out very little cold air and was very ineffective - it needs sorting, ready for summer. Again, a shame, as we would have stayed longer and had a coffee were we not so uncomfortably hot. We did ask for some tap water but were not offered any ice - although I noticed other customers with bottled drinks did have ice; again, gives the impression of the owners being a little money-grabbing. All in all, today's meal was one of the better occasions in terms of value for money but at £49.50 for 3 of us, still expensive for what we were served.

Booked afternoon tea for three in advance to celebrate my Grandma's 93rd birthday, stressing that I wanted the tea to be very special for her. There are a couple of dodgy Hatty afternoon tea reviews on here but thought we'd give it a go hoping that they would pull something special out for a special occasion. We arrived at half 1 on a busy Saturday afternoon, and shown to a nice table in the window. The friendly members of staff quickly took our drinks orders. Crockery was very pretty and there were some artificial flowers on the table. The food arrived shortly afterwards on a very plain glass one-tiered cake stand. A bit disappointing as the ladies next to us had a beautiful 3 tiered stand. Good selection of sandwiches - but it's a good job my Grandma doesn't eat very much as my boyfriend and I would have been very hungry otherwise! The cake selection was poor. They have lots of delicious looking cakes and scones on the counter but all we got was a slither of one of the cakes each, a tiny piece of brownie and a mini scone - that was already creamed and jammed! For me that is the best part of afternoon tea - having a nice big scone and topping it yourself. Big let down. So it was £45 (£15 per person) for some sandwiches and a few bits of cake. I would have thought for a 93rd birthday my gran would be given her own nice big bit of cake or a glass of prosecco - I saw some glasses being poured and thought they were going to be for us.. but they weren't!! I would return but would not have the afternoon tea. Could do it better at home for a quarter of the cost.

Lovely tea shop serving great local food, with friendly staff and a relaxed environment for sharing with friends or just reading the paper over coffee and breakfast. Well worth visiting Epworth just to have a meal at Hatty's.

Took some friends rather than a pub lunch, portions were small, bit pricy, seating cramped. Still, they were busy so it might just be me (bit too busy for my liking) cramped can't really have a private conversation.basically think we could have done better for the money, maybe ok for a coffee and toasted teacake but not for a lunch for four.Don't think I'd go back for a meal, maybe a light bite.

Popped in here on an ad-hoc detour to get something to eat & drink (5pm ish). Building looked like an old fashioned type of place and advertised food outside the front door. Parking in the old stable courtyard around the back. Tight bar, low ceilings but offered good ales. The chef spotted as and told us that if we wanted food, Stew and Dumplings were fresh and a special of the day. Very much a locals pub, bar flies were friendly, TV on with no sound (News) and best of all. NO MUSIC and could have a conversion without shouting over any noise. Grub was bang on (Stew, dumplings, mash and veg) and a massive portion. £8 quid. Mrs. had Scampi, a mountain of chips and a lorry load of peas which she said was really good. Also £8 quid. Great pub, great grub, well poured beer and nice welcome surroundings. Rough and ready, no frills good honest place.

A busy place for golfers in a great location. Lots of parking in a spacious car park. Accessible for everyone. The club house is fantastic with food and drink available for those who want it, including friendly staff members. Fantastic views of the course from the club house. Looking forward to my next visit.

The phone number is defunct and the venue is completely shut despite it being in the middle of their published hours. I suspect that it has closed down.

A little disappointed really, service was really good, but the food average - ordered the chicken kebab which was just okay, not brilliant. But the most disappointing aspect was ordering our dessert, but as we were after 9pm the kitchen had closed. We were late diners, arrived at 8.15 but when we ordered our main we mention we would like a dessert so when we were faced ordering and told, sorry the kitchen is now closed, we were left very disappointed indeed - not good really as the staff should have really come to us, but didn't. Ho hum - we dined out the second evening, great meal locally, far superior food and service.

Drinks and service good One vegan option which is ‘Korean tacos’ - note they are not tacos they are deconstructed. No real substance that would be worth £20! Not worth it for the vegan options but drinks and service good.
