We’ve recently moved to Scunthorpe and heard great things about this place, especially for live music! Me and my wife are booked in for gig in March, can’t wait. We came in for food end of Jan and were surprised to see fully vegan menu! I still eat meat but wife is vegan so she was taken back. We went for BLT, vegan pancakes with vegan Nutella! and some extra fries. Delicious! Coffee was decent enough, but on the colder side but still fine. they do offer cows milk at bar which took my wife back, thought plant milk would come as standard. I still have cows milk so I was happy lol But only food menu fully vegan, maybe soon the bar will be vegan. 5star for food 4 star for drinks!

Cafe indie was probably the first place to start offering vegan food and coffees in the whole of scunny. Their kitchen is now fully vegan and run by the amazing Junk Soul Smothered. (Check out their Facebook page if you’re planning a visit). The cafe is spacious and airy and very very quirky! Amy who makes the coffees is so good at making delicious oat lattes. I love them. 😍 We’ve had many a vegan meet up here and since JSS took over the kitchen we‘ve had a couple of post parkrun vegan runner meet ups. Vegan runners U.K. is the second largest running club in the country (and growing). Food wise they have a breakfast stack which is hash brown bacon and sausage in a bun with sauce, burgers, scoffles, loaded burger fries and toasted sandwiches. All the food is lush. They now even do a vegan breakfast but it’s not on the menu just yet. Check them out. 💚🖤🌱

A great venue for watching live music. A fairly big open space for socialising (on three different levels) - the stage is situated on the lower ground floor, with very good sound. The main bar is located on the ground floor, with more seating/tables on the upper mezanine. A friendly, welcoming place, which is easily accessed from the high street. I shall be revisiting it again.

Try to pop in on a lunchtime for a quick bite. They usually have 1 vegan dessert in and a few vegan options on the menu. Some of the vegan items that are on the menu are not obvious. You can order the loaded nachos as vegan, (vegan cheese, guacamole and salsa) so just ask if you’re not sure. ✔️ When they have the salted caramel torte in I highly recommend trying that. Vegan or not vegan if you like a pudding you will love it. 💚 I’d like to see more vegan items on the menu. Anyone can eat vegan food and pre 3rd COVID they were really good at catering for vegans 🌱

Been again to Cafe Indie with vegan crowd, had a wonderful meal, with great service and lovely atmosphere. Have been many times and never disappointed, so say all my friends. Just one comment...a plea really...will you please, please consider allowing dogs In??? Mine has separation anxiety, so had to leave her in the car and was worried throughout the meal. Most dogs are well-behaved, and you could have a clause to eject people whose dogs weren’t. Would you consider a trial basis? A similar set-up to Indie; Moon on the Water in Cleethorpes allows dogs, and I gather from the owner they have had no trouble. Many, many thanks in anticipation.

We really enjoyed our first visit to this excellent cafe which also operates as a cooperative providing many benefits to young people. From the Vegan Thursdays menu we opted for the fishless sandwich with wedges and the pizza swirls. The fishless sandwich comprised of a white roll with 3 'fish fingers', homemade tartare sauce, vegan cheese, chunky wedges and salsa. This was very tasty but I thought the homemade pizza swirls were even better. Puff pastry with freshly made passata, artichoke hearts, black olives, garlic, Italian herbs and melted cheese with a nice mixed salad. This lunch hit the spot and afterwards we had a chat with the friendly and pleasant staff to tell them how much we enjoyed the meal and wishing them all the best for the future.

So pleased that cafe INDIEpendent have cottoned on the to the fact that vegans will travel for vegan food and are very willing to pay. They’re the first place in Scunthorpe to have a dedicated ‘vegan day’. They’re pulled jackfruit sandwiches have proved very popular and are pretty good. Visited with my daughter one afternoon and was a bit concerned that the server didn’t know what I was asking for but then when you realise that the staff are mainly volunteers then it makes sense. This place is great for Scunthoroe but I would love to see it go fully vegan (like moon on the water in cleethorpes). In the meantime I would like to see them have more vegan options on the daily menu and not just on Thursday. A vegan dessert option available daily would definitely pull the vegan community in. But for now we’ll just have to be enticed by the jackfruit bun. If you can make it Thursdays watch out for their vegan Thursdays menu by liking their Facebook page and feel free to join vegans of Scunthorpe and surrounding areas or vegans of north Lincolnshire Facebook page (or both).

Drinks were reasonable price and the staff all friendly (I think most of them are volunteers) It's great in the day too, we have lots of work meetings there and it always has a relaxed vibe throughout the day.If you're going, it's a cash only bar..plenty of cash machines just down the road though. Will definitely be going to another gig there!

Popped into Cafie Indie earlier to look at the new Cooperative initiative. Was impressive with many hooks to entice members and keep them. One such is to get your membership card stamped after attending 5 gigs and get a freebie next time. That was enough for me. We love Cafe Indie. Sure, it could be a bit cleaner, but then it also could be yet another bland corporate horror on the high street. What it actually is, is a friendly, relaxed and pleasantly weird place which doesn't fail to leave us full and happy. Children are well-catered for, encouraged and expected to make noise and play; provided with a playhouse, toys, piano etc. This increases the amount of time and money I spend here exponentially. The staff are always polite and helpful and the food options change periodically, but they don't make the mistake of having 40000 options. Just a few really good things. Had a bloody amazing steak & blue cheese pie last time, which I literally scoffed down with great relish. Cakes are lovely, real baking not that horrible chain-cafe foam cake..It reminds me of other independent cafes in bigger cities, which is a very welcome concept in Scunthorpe. It does good things for the community. It has live music (and good music when it's not live) It has lots of random objects sprinkled around to look at. You can truly spread out and relax. I'd say go here!

Cafe Indie is a not-for-profit community endeavour. I am a huge fan of independent cafes, and with the added impetuous of the great work they're doing helping young people with learning disabilities gain some useful work experience, I really wanted his to be good but it's pretty awful. They have gone all out for a shabby chic, arty graffiti vibe which looks great in photos but the truth is the place is smelly and urgently needs cleaning. I have no problems with the service which was charming and not too long a wait for our tea and latte. The product was good but £4.50 for two hot drinks is on the pricey side, 50p more than the equivalent in Costa, for example. I'm afraid I was reluctant to ry the food. The actual toilet in the ladies loo was spotless but the cubicle, sinks, hand-dryer etc. were pretty mucky. If it is Indie Cafe's intention to give these young people realistic experience of working in a cafe, they must start with the basics of hygiene, other wise an excellent community inititative is doomed to fail, and fairly soon.

Cafe Indie is an amazing place. I've been in often and the staff try their very best. I get quite annoyed when I hear people tutting and moaning that they are waiting so long on being served etc. This place gives young people with learning disabilities a chance to work on their confidence, social skills in the hope they can secure employment in the big wide world. If you cant be a bit more tolerant, maybe you shouldn't bother going.

Leaving us a bit out of pocket..Second visit with my mum they charged us wrong.. someone had to come and sort the till but made it look like a massive effort. And today the guy poured boiling hot water on my leg, his reaction was so slow my friend had to alert him to my squealing to which he said "oh the barista filled it too high".I ran off to the toilet to try and put my leg under cold water which clearly wasn't practical so had to cup the water and throw it at myself. Nobody came to my assistance apart from my mum who said they might bring me some cooling gel. After 5 minutes nobody came and I had to go hunt down the first aid kit and a guy said he would let me apply the gel due to its "position high up on my leg!" My mum bandaged me up and no apologies or discount was offered.Really disappointed.

Lets make one thing clear this place is great for the town so this revue will be kind as there are just a few niggle points you should know about.I think this venue is great for bands, acts and anything that entertains. As a place to eat i'm not sure whether it is the right place to go. Please don't knock me i'm only being honest; initially, correct me if i'm wrong but this venue was updated and renovated via charity funding and most of the workers are volunteers? My hat goes off to all involved. I went to see a couple of bands recently and ordered a can of Carling then the shock came when the guy said £4 please. What? Come on, that is wrong on many levels and consequently that was my only drink all night! If priced reasonably they would have benefited far greater in the long run. Food was not even considered. The sad news of this venue is it suffers from damp. Unfortunately your clothes soak it all up and by the time you get home you and your clothes need a dam good wash. If there is anyone out there that can help this venue please go on do us a favor and sort out the damp.... Pleeeeaase?

This is not something you would expect to find in most towns or cities, let alone Scunthorpe. There's constant entertainment, with live music, acoustic sets and some great play lists. The cafe also provides opportunities for local artists to exhibit their work and there are gigs and bands several times a month with an incredibly broad range of tastes. The whole cafe is built on quality, you see this in everything they do, their choice of entertainment, their choice of food, drinks, pretty much everything. Cafe Indie is just what Scunthorpe has been crying out for, for years! Whether you want somewhere to enjoy a relaxing coffee and catch up with friends or you like attending live music events, Cafe Indie is perfect. They hold some truly wonderful events and Scunthorpe is blessed to have such a venue. Myself & my partner have attended many events here and they never disappoint. The drinks prices are excellent and the atmosphere is brilliant. This will always be my go to place.

Just had a lovely chicken and ham pie with wedges and peas. It was tasty. Decor is quirky and they are child friendly. Music in evenings.

Have visited a number of times, and each time I have eaten the same food. And each time I have been impressed. Sea salt and rosemary foccachia with ham, cheddar, and chutney. The flat bread is gorgeous! The cakes I have tried have been very nice too. An ideal place to stop off for coffee when shopping

Cracking little cafe that does good food and big portions. Friendly welcome and very good tea. That it's run to an ethical standard as well is so much the better. And the milk comes in a little cow jug.

We have been here a couple of times recently and and are pleased to have discovered it. We were a bit dubious about going in the first time, but were immediately made very welcome. The decor is eclectic, with loads to look at and we love the big old leather settees. We had foccaccia sandwiches. They were perfect. The de caff coffee is just right, the menu is easy to understand and the crockery is unusual. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. What a brilliant concept. Long may it continue

We have been visiting the cafe since it opened , what a fantastic idea to give the young people of scunthorpe an opportunity to gain experience dealing with the public which will hopefully see them grow in confidence and blossom in too young adults. The food is fab , the gig nights are great and the welcome is second to none in Lincolnshire. What a credit to the hard work of all concerned ...please keep up the good work ( PS please invite the Inspiral Carpets back ! ) Cheers and keep it up PRDMOx

I love this place! Cafe Indie has made fantastic use of this huge ex shop on the High Street, all three levels offer something different. It's a great place to meet for a coffee and a chat, or a healthy freshly prepared meal. I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food.Cafe Indie Offers something for everyone. There is a Mini Indie section for children, shelves of books to borrow, instruments to have a go on, shelves of board games, community knitting basket, and more I probably don't even know about. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and chilled out. It's brilliant, so if you haven't been yet, try it out, I guarantee you'll stay longer than you thought you would! It's very hard to leave!Oh, and it has free wifi too, but talking to one another is encouraged

Been here quite a bit over the last year and its a real pleasure to see Café INDIE process evolving. The Cafe and Venue itself is indeed an interesting, quirky and out of the ordinary place. But this is only the box that contains and protects the process and It's also no accident.Open you mind, visit Cafe INDIEpendent and allow the process to unfold in front of your eyes. You'll notice immediately upon your first visit it is visually quite different, you too are now in an environment that is not something you are entirely used to or indeed possibly entirely at ease with initially. This enhances the sensation of the experience, you may be slightly out of your own comfort zone until you too become part of the process. Its seldom a quiet place and the staff won't be standing around with their arms crossed, more likely they will be a dressed to reflect their individual personality. Hey they may even wear a hat or a beard !Look around and you'll also notice an enormous variety of visitors, very young, cool dudes, students, middle aged, balding, hairy, you name it they come and enjoy being one together.INDIE is above all Inclusive, everyone is very welcome and it really shows. Those working in the Café are part of a training scheme aimed at encouraging and mentoring confidence and experience in a customer facing environment. Generally the individuals themselves are initially well outside their comfort zone but the process you've experienced in the first few minutes is what the scheme does for these young people every second of every day. When you've watched shrinking violets blossom into outgoing, personable and warm confident young people as a result of Café INDIE's process you will then fully understand the place.Meanwhile you'll be warmly welcomed and it may be a bit noisy, or even on occasions just quite deliberately different, but it will always be Inclusive - and that's good !Keep it up guys & girls !

Excellent cafe which offers a range of beverages and food in a relaxed environment. The majority of staff are volunteers who are trained up to be excellent barista, waiting and event management staff. The once a month secret supper club is definitely recommended - attention to detail is second to none. The surroundings are laid back, with a mixture of pre-loved sofas and chairs/tables. There are also a number of events offered on selected evenings - from gigs, comedy evenings and an excellent ladies night once a month as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Popped in here on an ad-hoc detour to get something to eat & drink (5pm ish). Building looked like an old fashioned type of place and advertised food outside the front door. Parking in the old stable courtyard around the back. Tight bar, low ceilings but offered good ales. The chef spotted as and told us that if we wanted food, Stew and Dumplings were fresh and a special of the day. Very much a locals pub, bar flies were friendly, TV on with no sound (News) and best of all. NO MUSIC and could have a conversion without shouting over any noise. Grub was bang on (Stew, dumplings, mash and veg) and a massive portion. £8 quid. Mrs. had Scampi, a mountain of chips and a lorry load of peas which she said was really good. Also £8 quid. Great pub, great grub, well poured beer and nice welcome surroundings. Rough and ready, no frills good honest place.

A busy place for golfers in a great location. Lots of parking in a spacious car park. Accessible for everyone. The club house is fantastic with food and drink available for those who want it, including friendly staff members. Fantastic views of the course from the club house. Looking forward to my next visit.

The phone number is defunct and the venue is completely shut despite it being in the middle of their published hours. I suspect that it has closed down.

A little disappointed really, service was really good, but the food average - ordered the chicken kebab which was just okay, not brilliant. But the most disappointing aspect was ordering our dessert, but as we were after 9pm the kitchen had closed. We were late diners, arrived at 8.15 but when we ordered our main we mention we would like a dessert so when we were faced ordering and told, sorry the kitchen is now closed, we were left very disappointed indeed - not good really as the staff should have really come to us, but didn't. Ho hum - we dined out the second evening, great meal locally, far superior food and service.

Drinks and service good One vegan option which is ‘Korean tacos’ - note they are not tacos they are deconstructed. No real substance that would be worth £20! Not worth it for the vegan options but drinks and service good.
