The best restaurants serving British food in Northallerton Central Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

Ordered a bacon sandwich and poached eggs on toast with bacon. The sandwich arrived with 2 rashers and the bread didn't cover the rashers. The two pieces of salad garnish were yellow and slimy! The 1 rasher of bacon added to eggs on toast cost £2.50! I asked for the slimy side garnish to be removed and larger bread. A muffin bacon sandwich returned with no garnish at all the muffin wasn't big enough to cover the palm of my hand. Pot of tea served with no milk. Bettys has premium prices and the size of portions has shrunk beyond reasonable. After discussion, the cost of the ba on sandwich was removed and an apologie was accepted. Calling at the cake till, we were charged £4.50 for a takeaway custard slice. We will not be going again. Bettys is no longer the premium establishment, it's daylight robbery.

Our second visit to the Wellington for lunch. We all had fish and chips, one of the best ones we have had. Delicate thin, melt in the mouth batter and lovely white haddock.The mushy peas were great too Portion just right, not overkill with too many chips and the haddock was a decent size. All beautifully presented and served by friendly attentive staff. We love this great little pub, it was busy, with everyone enjoying their lunch, relaxing cosy ambience with their two wood burners on, on what was a very cold Saturday. Booked in again for another evening meal in Feb 😊

Really tasty homemade soup followed by excellent homemade Bakewell tart and proper homemade custard. Add friendly staff and reasonable prices and we'll definitely be back. Thank you for a great lunch, Garthway!

Our favourite place to eat when we are in Northallerton. My husband is vegan so it is rare to find somewhere to satisfy us both. We always have the cooked breakfast - my husband having the vegan option, while I have the builders breakfast. The food is cooked to order and always delicious. The staff are very friendly and the cafe clean and welcoming. We will be back again soon.

Situated in a lovely location behind the church the Oddfellows Arms is a really nice traditional pub, and certainly one of the smartest in town. Service was welcoming, there was a nice atmosphere and our beers good.

Very mediocre food and certainly not what you expect from a country pub. Staff was friendly and the establishment is reasonable but not much better than a weatherspoons in a busy town. I hade stuffed mushrooms as a starter that was quite frankly a bowl of slop with a couple of baguette ends, the chips tasted like the oil was months old, the opinion rings were solid batter with something that did not even resemble an pinion, the beef sizzle had 4 small bites of beef and the rest was chopped peppers. The chocolate fudge cake was old and microwaved causing the chocolate filling to melt all over the plate, dressed with some squirt cream, I have better quality sponges for cleaning dishes, the rest of the family’s deserts were questionable and certainly all from a tin chucked in a microwave. Without being rude we did tell staff we wasn’t quite happy with the quality of the deserts to which the lady voluntarily said a round of drinks was to be deducted from the final bill but upon checking the receipt only one drink had been deducted. Very poor I certainly would not recommend to anyone, waste of money.

Excelent We had the Afternoon Tea. Can highly recommend. Great shop also, with lots of both quality and unusual food goodies.

A delightful place to spend time, to eat and to enjoy a perfect coffee. The lovely staff is a bonus.

We have just had the breakfast menu at Barkers Bistro and the full English is one of the best I have ever tasted. Everything was cooked to perfection for me. The staff were lovely and the service was quick. I can't wait to return again soon.

I have been here for the last 3 weeks on business for 2 nights a week, still 3 weeks to go 😀 Lovely welcome by everyone who has been on reception on all my visits, very helpful, friendly and they go that extra mile to help. The rooms I've stayed in so far are ( 2-10 and 31) which were very clean, cosy and well presented with everything you needed, Iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The only little issue was the shower door rollers kept coming loose, just life cycle replacement needs attention at some point. I could not fault any of the cleaning at all and that's very rare for me due to being a cleaning trainer for the NHS, hotels, schools and offices for 20 years. I meet some of the cleaning first thing on the morning and they were also very polite and always smiling. The bar area was comfortable, clean, all the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant-bar is excellent, large portions, presented beautifully and very tasty...... 😋 I didn't have the breakfast , so i can't comment on that... Thank you so much for making me feel welcome, especially when I'm here on my own. I will miss coming here when my business in Northallerton comes to an end 😊

What's happened to the portion size? Now much less than before the recent closure. 😢 staff still really pleasant though.

Friendly, good wholesome food and drink at very reasonable prices. Comfortable. We visit every time we are in Northallerton.

Vist here regularly as it's the only pub in Northallerton with quality craft beers and good range of Belgian beers which are my favourites. Always friendly welcoming and efficient service. Keep it up Paul (the service level that is)!

Very disappointing coffee. Did not taste nice at all. Instant coffee would have been nicer. Had this with a cheese scone which was really poor too. Tasteless and stodgy. Not sure if they are made in house It’s a shame that a simple good coffee and cheese scone is not a high standard
