This is a very nice cosy cafe tucked away down a little alleyway near to the fleece pub on the high street. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cafe is very clean. I ordered the full English, minus the black pudding. So 1 egg, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and 2 slices of toast and a pot of tea. It took awhile to arrive but I find that quite reassuring, as it tells me that it’s being cooked fresh and not simply warmed up in a microwave oven. The pot of tea was served first and it was piping hot and good quality. The breakfast was really nice and cooked to perfection. The sausages were of decent quality not the budget white / fat soaked rubbish that a lot of cafes serve. They were more like Cumberland I would say. The bacon was also very nice and cooked really well. The food was served nice and hot. My only criticism is that the portions are not overly generous. I would have preferred 2 eggs and a lot more beans and tomatoes. As can be seen from the photo, it’s not exactly a belly buster. Also my toast came when I was already halfway through which was a shame. I will definitely go back but I’ll ask for two eggs and more beans etc. I’m happy to pay the extra. The price for a standard breakfast was £8.

On entering the premises we were greeted with a friendly approach. The owner introduced herself and took our order. We had a small breakfast which came with tea. It was made all from scratch so waited about 10 minutes for the cooked breakfast but the tea came out immediately. It was lovely and just the right size for myself. They are very dog friendly which is why I have never been before as the previous owners were not dog friendly. I sent a message before I arrived so that I new I could take my dog which was answered straight away. I will be returning 10/10 Little tip ….. a jar of dog treats would be nice.

Simply furnished cafe with super friendly and efficient staff. Nicely cooked and presented full English. For £7 a head you get two of everything including tea and toast which, given the quality is exceptional value for money. Well worth a visit and would not hesitate to recommend.

Family-run cafe with a caring attitude. Food is freshly made and well-presented. Cyclists, dogs and children all welcome ( with high-chairs and special menu requests handled with patience). Specials listed inside are worth checking out: recent offers of chilli-cheese-burger (yummy), pork and apple sauce butty (ahhh), and the amazing Hunters Chicken Wrap! This hidden gem of a cafe is the place to head for in Northallerton.

Visited Northallerton 16th March on a coach trip, for the first time in many years. Found this cafe on Trip Advisor before setting off, and decided to try it. Tucked away down an alley but well worth seeking it out. Very friendly, welcoming staff. I had a bacon, chicken, lettuce and mayo wrap. My husband had a cheese and ham toasty. Both meals were beautifully presented, with salad, crisps and coleslaw. Best quality ingredients. There were several local people eating here - so that speaks volumes!

We tried to find this little cafe in the summer but unfortunately took a wrong turn and ended up somewhere else. We managed to find it today and so glad we did. My husband had a full English breakfast and I had a bacon and mushroom sandwich and the quality of the food was fantastic and the portion sizes excellent - we won’t be needing any tea tonight! The prices are very reasonable too. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is homely and everything is clean. We’ll definitely be coming back here many times!

We called in after reading reviews, be sure to be back here next Northallerton visit. Very friendly host, take it he was the owner/chef, he took order. Prompt service, ordered a couple of toasties and coffees, delicious . Took away some cheese scones, they didn't last long once home, lovely. A good point was the gentlemen who brought our food came over shortly afterwards to ask if all ok, always appreciated that they are bothered you're happy. Would recommend popping in here, you're sure to enjoy.

Lovely cafe in the sunshine. Simple sandwiches, burgers and snacks menu. Would have liked to have enough space for a sweet as they looked delicious. I had the cheese and ham toastie and the ham was home cooked, thickly sliced and delicious. Owner was lovely, cheerful and helpful. Good place to go if you have allergies as they are very aware and have a choice of gluten free and dairy free homemade cakes.

So glad I found The Terrace— my first question ( unfortunately as iam coeliac) is always “do you do gluten free food “ how great it is to hear a positive YES straight away ( can’t tell you how many places I’ve been to and they don’t or they’re not sure and have to “go and ask”!!This cafe is so lovely, the courtyard is a great place for sitting, there’s no passing traffic or shoppers- lovely. The food is cooked to order, fresh and tasty , I had jacket and tuna with small salad and my friend chose a cheese and ham toastie- lots of cheese and proper ham. Needless to say we cleared our plates. Will definitely return- fancy the breakfast. Staff very friendly with an obvious passion and care about they’re customers, and also a very clean cafe. Thank you

we've been looking for a dog friendly cafe since we moved here last month. Saw this one advertising their new Pay it Forward scheme and had to go and try it out. It's off the high street, so you do need to look for it, but it's worth the effort. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are lovely. Good basic menu - coffee was enormous, and scones were delicious. Prices are very reasonable. There are a few outdoor tables for better weather days, set back from the noise of the high street, nice atmosphere. We'll definitely be back for lunch next time!

After vowing to never step foot in the place again from our terrible last experience, we decided to give this place another shot from hearing that it has new owners. What a difference it has made!! The cafe has been totally turned around. The menu is now filled with fresh and local produce, cooked to a good standard but still affordable. The owners are lovely, welcoming and friendly. Only thing I was slightly disappointed with was that the lady who made our last experience so dreadful was still acting the way she previously did. It did bring the experience down slightly however i hope the problem is resolved and we can continue to visit and support the small business and it’s new wonderful owners. Thank you

What a find ! Looking for breakfast in Northallerton and came across this little beauty... the most friendly staff I have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble, my partner and I don't drink tea or coffee (which came with the breakfast) it was no trouble at all to change for a soft drink. We ordered the all day breakfast, all fresh produce cooked to order. We were offered, brown or white toast, black pudding at no extra cost and the choice of duck or chicken eggs. It came out to the table and we were very impressed with the amount of food on the plate, beautiful2 slices of thick bacon, the most amazing meaty 2 tasty sausages, beans, mushrooms, 2 fresh eggs and wow ! The black pudding, a must in my eyes ! Our 1st visit and definately not our last. Thank you, and see you all soon.

Re all the previous reviews that say it's difficult to find- how about some helpful directions! As the address indicates, the entrance to the alleyway is right by Bargain Booze. There is a door to the alley and I guess that when it is shut- so is the cafe. The cafe itself is tidy and has about 8 tables inside as well as couple outside, so it is roomy enough. The young couple who run the cafe are charming and service was quick and very friendly. From the relatively simple menu I had the breakfast for £7, which included tea which was served, pleasingly, in a nice china pot, and two slices of toast. The breakfast itself was well cooked and nicely presented. It was also pretty substantial and is one of those that will keep you going all day.A previous reviewer commented disparagingly re the "Richmond" sausages and, yes, they are of that type; and while not the type of sausage I'd buy myself - they were perfectly fine. If I was to offer advice I'd perhaps suggest that serving one good sausage instead of two cheaper ones would be better, but in saying that I accept that many people like Richmond and other sausages of that ilk.Bottom line however is that I really enjoyed my breakfast which was excellent value. This is a splendid little cafe - highly recommended.

I always enjoy the atmosphere here, not feeling "rushed " at all. Cafe was very clean ( so was the toilet).Menu choice suits me, Paninis, toasties breakfasts, sandwiches, things along those lines. I have to be perfectly honest. My friends and I looked at this cafe the other day and walked away. It's down an alleyway and we were a bit dubious. However we visited yesterday and I'm so glad we did. The cafe is clean and spacious. Three of us ordered paninis and the fourth ordered a jacket potato. The menu isn't huge but they do breakfasts, jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, scones and cakes. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced.
