Such a great little cafe, a perfect stop on the Cleveland Way or if you are out cycling or walking in the area. A small but hearty menu which is vegetarian friendly. The homemade scones are excellent. The cafe boasts a selection of homemade cakes and there are also some vegan bake bars on the menu. Beautiful views, dog-friendly and lovely staff.

Stopped in for a quick coffee, but it was anything but that. They were a little busy but taking 25 minutes to serve just a single coffee just isn't acceptable. And it wasn't hot when it arrived. They need to get themselves better organised. Still, I got to read the Sunday paper provided!

This was our first visit to the tea room with the new owners and we were very impressed. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed local bacon and free range eggs in a delicious sandwich made from locally baked bread. We enjoyed triple chocolate brownie and fruit scone with jam and clotted cream, all washed down with Yorkshire tea. A great spot and we will be back!

Evidently under new management in Summer 2018, Tucked away in the village of Kildale, this cafe is an excellent stop-off for cyclists, Cleveland Way Walkers and can be incorporated as a food and drink source for walkers on many interesting routes in the surrounding area. Friendly service is assured and the food produce is freshly prepared, good quality and at a reasonable price.

We stopped off half way on our walk to Roseberry Topping, we were greeted by a friendly cafe owner who was interested in where we were going and offered some useful advice about picking up a taxi in the area at the end of the day. There were two kinds of soup on offer which were both nice, I opted for the tomato and basil which was thick and very warming, I also tried the aptly named "adventurers soup" a vegetable broth with lentils which was very filling. To finish it had to be a cup of tea and cake but there was so much choice, it was difficult to make a decision, in the end I chose the coffee and walnut cake which was delicious. The day we went the road outside was being resurfaced and there was no access for cars which meant it wasn't too busy but even so there was a steady stream of walkers and cyclists who clearly knew there was good food to be found at the Glebe Cottage cafe. I would highly recommend this cafe.

Kildale is a delightful hamlet on the Esk valley trainline, close to Great Ayton in North Yorkshire National Park. There is free parking near to this café (station car park) and you can walk in several directions in the National Park. such as: Onto Captain Cooks Monument or onto Park Nab. The café is under the new ownership (July 2018) of a charming young man in his early 20's with a real passion for food. It is open 6 days a week (closed Thursday) from 9.30-4.30. So if you are partial to a cake and a coffee after your walk (or drive) of fancy a light lunch then I can recommend this little eatery. Enjoy

Disappointing visit here today: we parked, walked in, took some seats, got the menu, made our choices, went to the counter to order only to be told they weren't serving food today - just cake "and there's not much of that left"! What's the point of opening if you don't actually have good to serve? Annoying. All it takes is a sign outside saying "Only drinks and cakes available today." Won't be back.

We had a 5 mile circuit walk on part of The Cleveland Way from Gribdale Gate to Captain Cook's Monument, Kildale and Lonsdale. Our main destination was Glebe Cottage Cafe and Tearoom in Kildale.Coffee plays a big part in my reviews and my expectations were not that high. How wrong I was. One of us had a flat white, the other an Americano with milk on the side. We do not know what the brand was but it was quality. They did not skimp on it either as it was strong enough for us. Remarkably, they also offer instant for those who prefer it. We had Millionaire Shortbread and flapjack between us. Very generous portions, perfectly made. Millionaire Shortbread can sometimes be too sweet, here it was perfect. The flapjack had the perfect proportions of fruit, grain, etc.The atmosphere is pleasantly informal. You can also sit outside. The toilets were adequate and clean. On leaving I said to my wife that I will have to put something on Tripadvisor and she joked not to because if it becomes too popular we might not get a table next time we go. There will definitely be a next time.

We have attended this tea room many times over the years either on foot or on bike. It is in a great location and the new owners have made some good changes. Gone is all the dust covered clutter but it is lacking in atmosphere and friendliness. On our most recent visit we sat outside. We observed the large number of negative signs that litter the seating area... do not move benches... do not park bikes here there or anywhere... do not do this that or the other. etc. they don't even provide water for passing walkers/bikers... who knows, treat these people well in their time of need and they will return. Perhaps if they didn't park the car in the centre of the seating area there would be space for a bike stand. They need to be more accommodating to the people who are their livelihood... !Also, my Americano came in a mug with most of it spilling out down the sides...it tasted more like a cheap cup of instant than a quality bean.

We've called at Glebe Cottage many times - usually when walking, cycle trip or even called when horse riding. The food is great -[especially the home made soup on a cold day]. The portions are generous and the prices very reasonable. I do have to agree with Linnes 10 in respect of the decor needing some TLC but I can certainly live with the lace tablecloths - which have never been dirty when we've been there. The café is often busy and sometimes we have had to wait a while - but the food is always worth waiting for - and a pint of lager here is a real treat on a hot day!

Can't fault this place for tasty food, very reasonable prices, large portions and a wide range of varied and sometimes interesting choices (boursin omelette, halloumi on toast, wensleydale rarebit), 3 homemade soups and a vast range of sandwiches and toasties - averaging £4 or £5 - and most served with dressed salad, coleslaw & crisps; additionally there's the usual tearoom fare of hot & cold drinks, scones and cakes and ice cream). It's even licensed (£15 for a bottle of Prosecco) and sells hot spiced homemade elderberry cordial (£1.70). Well, it is winter now! We had welsh rarebits - loads of tasty cheddar and slices of tomato on two rounds of white loaf, dressed salad, coleslaw & crisps. Vast!A bonus is that dogs are allowed indoors - and the owner's little girl has even put up a poster offering dog-walking/ playing services for £2 an hour!Service was friendly, and the place is really quirky - with knitted stuff for sale on every surface and shelf . You can buy knitted dishcloths, knitted toys, knitted hats, knitted scarves, knitted children's clothes; secondhand books (mostly children's). There's a good range of local preserves- chutneys, jams, honey for sale, too.My only reservation is that it is very shabby and outdated (Austrian blinds, scuffed chairs and dirty-looking faded seat pads, and I'm not too sure lace tablecloths are hygienic these days). The toilets are a bit damp, seventies-ish and could do with an update. It all looks like it needs some TLC and de-cluttering. I'd have given it 5/5 if the environment hadn't made me feel that it might be a bit dusty. It probably isn't! But it is primarily a walkers' café, so I guess it doesn't need to be chic. And at these prices, tastes and portions, it's churlish of me to complain!

What a little gem of a cafe. Breakfast service is personal and welcoming. The menu was taylored to my choice and so tasty. Yet to enjoy the evening menu but it always looks so warm and welcome when I drive by in an evening.

Owen hosted our wedding reception. Lovely family do (7 bridesmaids and 3 pageboys between 5 and 10) with an outside BBQ. Happy for us to put up a bouncy castle. Really relaxed feel. We put up gazebos in case it rained so we could cover an outside area to seat 48. We had a band inside later. Room to dance. Couldn’t have asked for more.

A cut above your normal Sunday pub lunch. Excellent presentation and really tasty. Not the normal boiled veg. Very good.

Gorgeous little spot and great local cheese and tea and scones and chutney. Friendly staff too, who chatted with us for a while. They gave us free apples as well.
