We are regular visitors to Ontano Lounge and absolutely love it. The staff are fantastic and the food and drinks are excellent. Went for lunch on Saturday; it was extremely busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our order to be delivered. Staff were all friendly and helpful, checking on us to make sure my meal (allergy issue) was ok.

Nice place to meet with friends for breakfast and coffee.

We arrived at 8 pm on Sunday 22 September and there were 14 of us, due to our unexpectedly meeting up with friends after an event at a nearby venue. The restaurant was empty except for one table and the patrons left shortly after we arrived. Realizing that there were a large number of us, we spoke to the waitress, explaining that we did not all have to sit together, we would have sat in 4s or 6s if that would help but most importantly, if we were too late or were going to cause the restaurant a problem, we would go elsewhere. We said this several times but the waitress told us to "go and wait by the door and she would come over" We did as we were told and she came across after a few minutes and said they could accommodate us, but that next time we turned up with that number of people we should book. We explained again that we had just come in together but didn't need to sit together, but she just walked off. Before she did so, she told us that some dishes would not be available and we said this was fine, given the circumstances. She didn't return to tell us what dishes were available, so one of our party went over to find out. There were no brunches available, no steaks and no dishes with noodles or prawns (it transpired they had already thrown them away for the day). As instructed we went over to the bar to place and pay for our orders. We waited for a while and when the waitress did not return to lay the table for us, we went to find our own knives and forks and serviettes. Maybe it is normal for customers to do this in the Ontano Lounge and we didn't mind doing it, but it would have been helpful if the waitress had taken the time to tell us what to do. The food began to appear, brought by the same waitress who called out two lounge burgers. As no one else had ordered burgers I and my friend assumed they were for us, even though we had ordered a lounge burger with bacon and cheese. We said this to her but she still said the burgers were our order. When we checked, there was no cheese or bacon. When the waitress returned with another order for our table, we pointed this out, saying it was not what we ordered and that our order should have had cheese and bacon as described on the menu. She very ungraciously took the plates away saying she would have the cheese and bacon added. Whilst we were eating she came over to interrupt my meal, to tell me that I had to pay for the extras when I left. I said that I would. As we were packing up to go, she came over again to remind me. Having collected my coat, I went over to the bar to pay. Both the waitress and another woman whom I believe was the manager, ignored me as they were busy clearing up, so I simply said, "excuse me, can I pay the extra you want to charge me". A lounge burger costs £12.50, a lounge burger with cheese and bacon costs £14.75, as I had ordered drinks as well as our burgers, I hadn't noticed that they only charged me the £12.50 but was ready to pay the difference of £2.25 x 2 = £4,50 so was a little surprised when presented with a bill for £7.30. The waitress explained that as I had asked for "extras" I had to pay for them. I explained that all I wanted to do was pay for what I actually ordered and if there had been a "miscommunication" when I first placed my order I should only be charged the difference between what I ordered and finally received. At this point the manager snatched up the bill, told me that she was tired of dealing with us and that told us extremely rudely to leave. We said we had never received such poor, rude service and she replied that we had been rude too by daring to enter the restaurant without booking and complaining about the limited food on offer (which we did not). I asked her if she would like to repeat her argument on video as I wanted to have a record of it for an official complaint. First of all she said no but then quickly changed her mind and proceeded to give a diatribe on how appalling we were as customers. We left saying we would never come back to cat calls from the other waitress along the lines of "oooo, they've never coming back" and "we don't want you back". Our party comprised of visitors to Northallerton, including a family from Spain. Up to this point, they had been delighted by the warmth and friendliness and general helpfulness they had encountered throughout their stay. Unfortunately their lasting memory will be one of appalling rudeness. There are other places to eat in Northallerton, we will be eating in these in future. We have a "Lounge" from this chain in our home town of Caversham. I understand the staff there are fine but we have been so affected by this experience that we are unlikely to go there either. Both the waitress and the manager left themselves and most importantly your company down.

Love this place ! The building and decor is amazing and so unique ! Food was delicious and staff were pleasant and friendly 😊

After dropping our car off at Simon Bailes, for its annual service, we walked along the high street looking for a place for Brunch. Luckily, we came to the Ontano Lounge and I had a fantastic Smashed Avocado, the wife had a triple stack of buttermilk pancakes stacked with bacon and maple syrup. Coffee was an excellent Flat White and a pot of Decaf Tea. Staff are very friendly and the decor is quirky as described on the Website. Highly recommend a visit

Lovely place to relax for food and beverages, great service from lovely polite staff.

Came when this place first opened and wasn't too impressed. But decided to give it another try and went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I really hate the fact that if you don't use APPs you have to go to the bar to order. Food ordered - pancakes, bacon and maple syrup for me. full english for my friend. I have to say the pancakes were delicious and my friend enjoyed her brekkie. sort out the ordering and it will be 5 stars.

First time visit and loved it. The whole place has a relaxed chatty vibe with stunning lighting and simple up cycled tables/chairs. Lots of choice, veggie, vegan and gluten free menu's I had tapas which were delicious, daughter had gluten free chicken Kiev burger also delicious 😋 Everything is downstairs and there is garden seating too. Reasonable prices and would definitely go back

Main Street in Northallerton. Unusual decorations on high walls, multiple paintings too, seating well spaced, very varied menu lovely atmosphere. Recommend

Had a lovely lunch here, sat outside in the lovely secluded courtyard at the rear. Staff were friendly and attentive. The vegan menu was excellent for variety, A really good experience and I’d highly recommend.

We have visited Ontano lounge a number of times at Northallerton and have never been disappointed definitely would recommend if you in Northallerton 👍

Awesome place. Great vibe and even better food. Staff are brilliant and it's quirky decor is fab.

Had poached eggs and smoked bacon on muffins. Waited quite a while for the meals Portion very small, hardly any bacon, which was fatty. Tiny sized eggs, and yolks too firm, Not good value for money. No-one come over to ask if our meal was OK!

Stood wait in at the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign for over 5 minutes whilst the manager just sat on her laptop facing the entrance. A couple leaving told us to just go in and take a seat as they had to do the same and no one approached to seat them. Probably shouldn’t have a sign and even if you do then you should acknowledge customers you see waiting. After ordering online the service was and food was more than satisfactory. But the welcome could do with some work.

1st time here. Coeliac! So gluten free menu was a godsend! So much to choose from. Really knowledgeable staff! Superb service and food was great. Lovely atmosphere too!

Was quiet when we went but the atmosphere was very relaxed, staff were very friendly and good was great. Very accommodating for picky eaters too. Highly recommend.

Really nice atmosphere, well decorated and very good with my friend who is vegan. Plus my dog gets welcomed with a water bowl and can relax with us. Friendly service and lovely food.

Hmm. I double checked to.make sure the other reviews were talking about the same place I went to. They definitely are.... Maybe the venue was having a challenging evening the night I went, or maybe it was new staff. Nicely decorated inside. Clean, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. You can park directly outside. Ordering through an app. Bit clunky but works. Painfully slow service and food all came at different times, even allowing for an incorrect order. Burgers were vastly overpriced and just okay. Churros dreadful. Soggy and tasted not great. Painfully slow service. No checking back and table left uncleared. Not planning on returning.

Went for a day out in northallerton, and I am the worst for finding somewhere to eat as I’m so picky! Couldn’t recommend them enough, food was fabulous, lovely courtyard to enjoy cocktails. The chicken noodles were one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time!

Only had drinks but it was such a nice, interesting place. Whenever I come to England, I’d definitely come back!

Came to Northallerton for work, and wanted a nice restaurant to eat in, with a good solid menu, and Ontano didn't let me down. I went for the homemade lemonade, and spicy broad beans to have straight away, and ordered 3 choices from the tapas menu, and added the tenderstem broccoli on the side. I had the wings, squid, and prawns and everything was 10/10, in perfect portions. The broccoli was also well seasoned and plentiful. The lemonade was very special and has sherbet on top, which went very well with the soda - would highly recommend. Overall great experience, with lovely friendly staff, and very reasonable pricing. If you're in Northallerton looking for somewhere to eat, look no further. Cheers.

Went for lunch with a friend. She ordered from the vegan menu which had lots of options.. noticed there was also an absolutely amazing gluten free menu- my son has coeliac disease so will definitely be making a trip back with him! I’ve never seen such a good GF menu! Both our meals were delicious….staff really friendly ... also loved the decor…

On arrival we stood by the sign saying "please wait to be seated" one of the ladies behind the bar shouted across saying "sit where ever you want" We chose a table towards the back as it was quite busy in the main area. Having sat for nearly 15 mins with no one coming over we realised that ordering via the online app was probably the way forward. Having ordered the app asked if I wanted to leave a tip........ we hadn't even been greeted really let alone served!!! I reluctantly paid for the food in advance as this seems to be the only way to order here. Nearly 20 minutes later, we got our drinks and 30 minutes after ordering, we got our food. The food was very poor, both dishes were only just warm, this was quite a surprise as my wife's grilled sandwich was nearly black. The onion rings and chips were tepid at best. I got a chicken flat bread. The chicken was clearly not cooked from fresh as it was dry and tough and again the whole dish was only just warm. The table opposite us finished eating and left, the staff walked past the dirty table 4 or 5 times. About 25 minutes later, another group went to sit at the table and staff finally cleared it. Shocking service, very poor food and high prices for your trouble. Avoid and go to one of the many nice places in town.

I am from Southampton and was stopping over for the day. I can happily say that the food was good. Everything we ordered was delicious. The food was served quick and hot. The atmosphere was great. Prices were not too bad. The menu catered for all 5 of us, and the bill was 103 pounds, including drinks. No one struggled to find something on the menu. Parking on a Sunday is free, which was a bonus . I would definitely recommend this place . I can't wait to visit next time I'm in town.

Great verity of food at reasonable prices

Everything fine, other than I wish parents would control their children as well as the dog owners control their animals. Kids running wild is not a good thing with staff carrying hot drinks and food!!

Lovely place, great meny for vegan/ gluten frees (im coeliac). Even has gf beer and vegan wines. Service was good, lovely interior. Has another branch down in ripon called claro lounge and heard good reviews from them. I had gf brisket burger and gf white chocolate cheesecake after 👌

Visited today for the first time for my Mum's birthday 14/3/24. We were met by a very friendly barman/waiter who let us just chose our table (it was very quiet, 9.30am). We were told we could scan the QR code or go up to the bar to order, we ordered at the bar. I had the Lounge Eggs with Smoked salmon and it was absolutely delicious! My mum had the same with the mushrooms and my sister had the full English which looked amazing and in her opinion is one of the best she's had. The decor really is stunning (hard to believe it used to be a bank)! Food is quite pricey BUT you do get what you pay for Will definitely be visiting again and have already recommended it to friends.

We came here for lunch and had the beef brisket chilli and the lamb shwarma flat bread which were very nice the drinks were also very good we tried the cappuccino and banoffee milkshake and we shared sticky toffee pudding and all came to just over £40 so not bad for the quality and we will definitely be returning

called for coffee wed 21st. said good morning to the female member of staff who was sat playing on her laptop. got no reply even though she heard me! so i repeated "good morning" she Reluctantly said it back to me with a dismissive lock on her face. all she said was "what coffee do you want"! what An unpleasant person she was even reluctant to say goodbye. Her manners were appalling..

Lovely relaxed atmosphere after shopping the Christmas market

We dropped into the Ortano Lounge before heading over to the Everyman Cinema. We had the Monday special which is a burger plus a drink for £12 each. Speedy and friendly service, good food. Will use again for another pre-cinema meal.

I recommend the beef brisket chilli. The drink in the picture is the Oreo shake.

I’ve been coming here since they opened and I’ve never been disappointed. The staff are kind and the chefs have never served me anything I’d send back. They are very consistent here and their menu allows you to have small or large meals, at different prices which I think is great. Happy to recommend Ontano to anyone in the area.

As a party of 8 we tried to get 2 tables outside but there was a big issue sales woman sat at one of the tables and we kindly asked her if she could move to let us all sit next to each other but she refused so we didn't end up eating here and went elsewhere, she was very annoying so we probably wouldn't want to eat there anyway

Beautiful decor, really nice staff. Plenty choice of alcohol. Would go again would just make a different food choice- the Bang Bang chicken was a bit oily and bland for me.

We went on a Sunday night and it was fairly quiet. The food was tasty. The tapas is competitively priced, but the portions are really small. The pulled beef chilli was particularly disappointing as it was about 80% accompaniments and 20% beef chilli.

The e-menu is great if you have allergies or intolerance as you select it and it only shows what you can have without the faff of having to search and try work it out, like the tapas to start, everything good staff very good food quick well presented, we went on a Wednesday which was quizz night but it wasn't too loud or in your face

For what looks like a sparkling dining experience from the outside, it was pretty lacklustre within. The waitress at the bar looked sick of her life, could not tell us what drinks were part of the Monday deal, "just say a drink and I'll press a button on the till to see if it's included" could have taken a while. My partner's meal of choice was out of stock along with the pasta dish. After we did order, one of our party's dishes was missed of the service, they apologised for this and prioritised the order, but even then did not have the buttered chicken included in the meal in stock, so it was just normal chicken, no complimentary offers or discount offered to make up for this, pretty poor, the food was actually tasty tho, but rather meagre portions for the price. Would not recommend, better off going to Witherspoon's.

The staff were really lovely and friendly and can't fault the service at all. Food was a little disappointing, took a while to arrive, and was only warm. Ordered 3 milkshakes which seemed vastly over priced for what tasted like store bought syrup in milk. I know well-behaved dogs are allowed, but we were seated near a group with a dog that barked at everyone who walked past, doors being opened and what seemed like every movement the owners made. Really off putting

Called in for food and it was delicious 😋. I had the tapas and my husband had the burger, the service was really good and the food arrived quickly and the presentation was lovely and it tasted great.

Always a delight to eat here. Fantastic coffee, amazing interior and food fresh and tasty. Tapas selection always good. The salt and petter squid is my favourite and I’ve eaten it on 3 different occasions this year. Clean restaurant and friendly staff.

Wavering between 3 and 4 stars, the menu and ambience promised so much however a few minor things added up to a disappointing experience for us which is a shame as we were having a small celebration. Firstly we were greeted pleasantly and told half an hour wait for food which we accepted as would have a drink; after a long wait for someone to take our order we were told to order at the bar - Yes this was on the board at the door however this was obscured as we entered (later heard other waiting staff specifically telling customers this). Therefore sat a long time with no drink or food. Upon ordering we specifically requested if the salad was made to order each time "Yes, it is", perfect - so ordered minus the red onion, also no onion in the other plate. Got to the bottom of the salad, after wondering why tasted strange, to find the missed red onion that hadn't been picked out in the kitchen ie not made fresh to order :-( . Our other plate was beetroot and feta flat bread - again this contained spring onion. Although otherwise tasty it was extremely difficult to cut the flatbread, a suggestion would be to serve the flatbread in wedges on the side to use as a scoop. No-one came to enquire, as is usual, how everything was, hence no feedback left in the Lounge. In the Ladies - one cubicle = no toilet roll available, another cubicle = seat broken - not the standard expected given the 'feel' of the place and prices paying.

Has a kind of chain feel about it for me, BUT, couldn't knock the service, quality of food, choice, or even price. Would go back, happily!

Dropped in for lunch. Really interesting menu. Had the Nasi Goreng that was excellent! Would definitely go again. Only downside at all was someone's very yappy dog at the next table!

Extremely rude brunette on the on the bar has thick framed glasses and a terrible attitude when I questioned the amount for 2 kids drinks 3 cocktail and tapas this barmaid slammed the receipt down at me on the bar and walked away extremely poor service will not be returning again I hope this girl is disciplined especially being as it's father's day I'm absolutely outrageous
