The best restaurants serving British food in Craven Yorkshire and The Humber

As you'd expect in deepest Yorkshire, a really friendly pub & the pies were amazing. Just what was needed before tackling the three peaks the following day. If we're ever in the area again, definitely be paying a visit. Booking recommended

We had just finished a hike (Grassington and Conistone circular), so we were a bit under-dressed for this very nice restaurant. My fault - didn’t do the research! We’d booked in advance given it was Good Friday but it was not very busy. Service was really lovely. Menu was not extensive and surprisingly after our exertions, we were not ravenous - so we ordered some sandwiches. All the food was terrific.

My wife and I went there to celebrate her birthday. The welcome was good and so was the atmosphere. The food was excellent and until then we enjoyed our visit. The turnaround came when the waitress, who until then was attentive and competent, told us that we had overstayed our time slot and basically she told us to leave now. This totally spoiled the experience for us and we will certainly never ever return to this place again. You don't go to Le Caveau just for the food but the experience, well until now.

Called this week with my family of 6 we all throughly enjoyed or meals and drinks. The service was very good staff helpful and friendly nothing changed since my last visit where that’s concerned. All our meals were served together, as each of us had a different food ranging from fish chips to hot beef baguettes lamb dinner , mushroom brandy chicken , Parma ham cream chicken. All very tasty and hot. Thanks for a great meal and service. Will back again when in Yorkshire.

Straight forward pub food done with real style and flavour. I had gammon steak with beef dripping chips - best gammon I have ever had! Oh and great beer

The location is ideal and a beautiful outside space for families. It's a shame it's let down so badly by the food. The 'ceasar' salad on the menu was not a ceasar salad but came with strawberries, orange and awful croutons. The sandwich was bland. I just think for such an amazing location the businesses is making it much harder for themselves by over complicating simple dishes.

We go out once a week for a treat (not easy in the current financial climate). We decided to visit Macleods Restaurant for lunch. The staff were great, very helpful and pleasant throughout. But we felt let down with the food. There are only 5 main courses on offer, yet one was not available (the burger) as it had not been delivered! Really, you can’t manage to have 5 options delivered and available. We both had the fish and chips, and both of us found the batter heavy and greasy, so we left the batter. Finally, we discovered on paying that a 10% tip was added without notifying us or mentioning it in any way; it was just added to the bill and then included in the total. You shouldn’t just include it in the total and it is not acceptable to put customers in the position of having to ask you to remove a tip from the bill. Money is tight enough without this type of practice, so sadly we won’t be visiting again.

Visited today for breakfast prior to doing Waterfall Trail. Very good quality breakfast at reasonable price, good efficient service, dog friendly too. Highly recommended.

Decepcionante. Tuvimos una comida encantadora aquí hace aproximadamente un año, pero no tan afortunado en la segunda visita. Me dijeron que no podía pedir pollo Teriyaki ya que era necesario para el menú de compartir de San Valentín, pero el lugar estaba vacío y casi vacío más tarde cuando nos fuimos! ¡Me preguntaba quién iba a compartir! Ala de coliflor de búfalo” eran 3 pequeños floretes fritos en masa, rehogados en salsa de chile dulce, apenas “asados y sazonados con ajo y pimentón” y la “hamburguesa de pollo con suero de mantequilla crujiente” era definitivamente crujiente - demasiado cocido y masticable, servido con algunas patatas fritas muy mediocres. Mi consejo es que te quedes con los pasteles que se veían bien. El hotel y el pub parecen encantadores y dan ambiente de hotel de campo, pero la comida no coincidía con esta vez.

Skipton & District RNA booked this venue for their traditional October Trafalgar Lunch. The Kestrel menu offered choices & dietary options for all guests (55). The food was well prepared & beautifully presented by Chef Gary & service by the waiting team Lisa & Lucy was also to a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble for this friendly pair. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all & we all went home well fed & smiling ⚓️⚓️⚓️

Update 3 years later: Went back today and the food is still gorgeous - but the potions have shrunk hugely. Chips came up to maybe half the depth of a *small* square tray. Best order a large unless you have the appetite of a 5 year old! 😆 Best fish and chips ever. Tasty, meaty fish in crispy light batter. Delicious gravy. Soooo gooood 😊

Siempre me gusta visitar este encantador pub en las afueras de Giggleswick. Esta noche, pedí una hamburguesa a Gammon y a mi hijo. Ambos estaban muy bien hechos, seguido de un postre de pastel de chocolate caliente. Delicioso. El servicio era bueno y muy amable, como era de esperar de este cuello del bosque. Volveremos en tres meses para otro regalo!

Lovely stop half way on our Grassington loop. Great food and service. 10/10 Dog friendly with plenty of outside seating and the little huts are very romantic. Food was great and filled our bellies ready for our walk back to Grassington. Worth walking a few hundred mtrs down the track to Hebden Bridge and the river.
