The Dales Cottage Cafe in Craven

This venue offers an extensive selection of meals, many of which are gluten free and therefore cater for my dietary needs. This was our first visit, but will certainly be our 'go to restaurant' in future visits to Skipton. The food served was both plentiful, tasty and served hot by attentive staff, perhaps the short queue waiting to be seated was a clue to how good the food would be!

Despite coming to Skipton for years on and off we had never been in this cafe, and found it had a nice varied menu. By the crowds of folk waitng to get in its obviously popular!!. Anyway after a short wait for a table we got seated. Very pleasant and efficient service. I had stewed steak for lunch with veg, potatoes etc and wife beef stew and dumplings. Very good portions, plenty of meat in both nd very tasty. This place sells proper 'home cooked' food at reasonable prices...Shows its popular!!..Very nice all round with a good pot of tea. What a fantastic roast dinner,I had the beef with extra beef,my wife had the lamb and she had extra pork,honestly the food was as good as I've had anywhere. Staff very friendly

Great place to eat. They have such a wide variety of food on offer from lovely roast dishes with all the trimmings to salads. We travel 1.5hrs just go visit for dinner regularly. The meat just falls apart cooked to perfection with great taste. The veg, roast potatoes are perfect. In winter they do a good old stew which is packed with steak and veg. They have a wide variety of deserts which are not to be missed. We have never had a single problem with the food a d always served fresh and hot. There certainly isn't anywhere that I know of in the North that can beat this place for both food and staff. It's a busy place but even when very busy you don't have long to wait

A very busy cafe in the centre of Skipton and with good reason ! There was a bit of a wait but that didn't spoil the experience,we had the roast lamb dinner and it was superb,Highly recommended. Will definitely be returning 👍

Took my son for breakfast this morning and what an absolute pleasure it was,the waitress was both attentive and friendly and made our experience a perfect treat,the food ( 2 large breakfasts and teas,) was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, fantastic value for money and the good old traditional way of serving food in existence,ie, tea served in a pot, hot plates and toast presented on a toast rack. A fantastic place to dine and we will definitely return. Excellent service and excellent food

I have visited the cafe on many occasions and always had a lovely welcome and enjoyed great food. I have a condition so struggle with stairs and the staff have always been extremely understanding and pleasant, explaining that there may be a wait for a table downstairs on busy occasions. I do not mind waiting at all, it os good to see a great local family business doing so well. Unfortunately, yesterday I discovered not wait due to the extremely rude manner of the lady greeting (I use the word lightly), her customers. I was honestly taken aback at her attitude. I am hoping that this was a one off but hope that the cafe will tale on board that such an attitude to customers new and old is really not good for their reputation.

Called in for lunch today it was very busy being a Sunday,we waited around 15 minutes to be seated,I ordered a large Yorkshire pudding filled with Minced Beef,my husband ordered Liver and Onions,both were brought to us after around 20 minutes,my Yorkshire had mashed potato aswell as the Minced Beef in it there was also a separate dish with Cabbage,Carrots and garden Peas and a jug of Gravy,my husband had the same veg and roast and new Potatoes and a small Yorkshire pudding,both meals were delicious and hot,we couldn't fault it,I couldn't eat all of mine as it was huge

Fantastic gem of Skipton- dog friendly, great value and lovely food. Service was quick and coffee also good. We had been wandering Skipton looking for a nice place for a while and with most central cafes not allowing dogs, we opted for one of the side streets and found this great spot. If we visit Skipton again, we'll definitely be making a beeline for this place!

This is not a cafe, this description is misleading as I have as usual had a marvellous meal here today, I would recomend anyone to spend time here for a coffee or a meal, simply perfect, it can't be beaten for value for money. Note anyone with a eatery should go and see how it's done and if you can re produce the cleanliness, friendly interaction, service, food , drink and general ambiance you cannot go wrong.

An older demographic for sure and an extremely busy cafe, we had to wait for a table to become available. Veey popular with the locals. The staff were great and the menu extensive. A little bit cramped and it felt like pensioners corner but overall a decent experience.

Amazing food & service & reasonable prices a wide menu choice. I asked for a lamb panini instead of beef and gravy and they were only too happy to accommodate. Very busy but still quick and friendly service. A must try if in the area.

A small but cozy restaurant, very busy at lunch time during weekends. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding, delicious although the beef was a bit dry. Suggest to have the smaller portion as a starter rather than the full portion as the main.

This is our favourite place for lunch when we visit Skipton. I've been coming for over 10 years and have never had a bad meal. There is an extensive menu, from many hot dishes to salads and sandwiches, but we tend to get a roast dinner which are always delicious and like a home cooked meal. We took our dog for the first time on this visit, she was very happy sat under the table and the staff gave her a water bowl.

We were down for breakfast at 830am and therefore missed the later crowds. Wonderful quality produce served by friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommend.

This is the third time we have visited this fantastic establishment this year, the menu is extensive and queuing for a table is worthwhile although bookings are taken. The choice of food, the quality of the food and the speed of service as well as being reasonably priced are all huge positives in our opinion and have added to the enjoyment of our visits to this part of the country.

Went in for an early lunch here today. We enjoyed a baked potato with a double portion of chili (1 pound extra), a shepherds pie and two panini’s. They all came with a generous salad. The service is quite quick. Pricing is decent, won’t call it cheap but it is good enough. Once we left you needed to stand in line.
