Visited as a group of 16 for an 80th birthday celebration. Beautiful place, great service for our Sunday lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and staff did well to serve such a large group in good time. I had the small roast beef, it was delicious and definitely enough for me! The Yorkshire pudding was excellent. I had the treacle sponge and custard afterwards- yummy!! Highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in the area.

Our first visit to The Victoria, and it was amazing. I can highly recommend this little gem. We walked into a spotlessly clean bar with a roaring welcoming fire. My husband had a beef roast ( £17.95) Served with yorkshire pudding , roast potatoes, plenty of gravy and perfectly cooked veg too. The beef was plentiful and cooked pink but tender and very tasty. I had a fantastic ox cheek in red wine jus. ( £19.95) Served on silky mash and again perfectly cooked veg. The meat was so tender and the jus amazing. The chef told me he cooked it for 24 hours. My husband ordered pudding, treacle sponge with custard. I had to try it, naturally. It was very light and fluffy sponge with a rich treacle taste. I only wish we lived closer, but a 2.5 hour journey is a little bit far to go for dinner! So, if you are in the area then don't hesitate....you are in for a treat.

Visited twice whilst holidaying in the area. Lovely welcome on our first visit enjoying roast beef Sunday lunch. Very clean bar area, & our dog was made very welcome. Excellent stout. Second visit had different staff who were not as welcoming, although the braised beef pies were very tasty, albeit the beer dripping chips thin & poor. The exterior of the pub looks nice with orange flowered hanging baskets everywhere. A good pub with good drink & food choices. Some staff much nicer than others which was a shame, but still enjoyed our visits.

I have had my eye on this pub for a quite a while as a good stopover option for the end of Day 1 of the Way of the Roses cycle route from Morecambe to Bridlington - and it did not disappoint. We had two rooms for our group - mine was Eshton set up as large double overlooking the front of the pub but very peaceful at night. It was lovely, well decorated and lots of thoughtful touches (great chocolate biscuits!). And an amazing large shower! The pub had great character and the evening meal was superb - especially the desserts (which we weren’t going to have but they looked so great!) - treacle sponge got the top recommendation. Breakfast the next morning was hearty - cereals etc then cooked breakie with some lovely local sausages and bacon. Finally there was somewhere secure to keep our bikes at the rear of the property. All in all a great stopover and would definitely stay again - though the first hill of the morning back to Airton was a little brutal after that great breakie :-)

This was a fairly last minute booking for us and we were lucky to get bed and breakfast in this lovely pub. We know the area very well and have stayed in nearby Malham in the past. Our room was small but lovely, clean and comfortable. The rooms don't have televisions, but actually that was a refreshing change! We enjoyed a tasty evening meal and a hearty breakfast, the quality of both meals was excellent. We really enjoyed our overnight trip and even though it rained the majority of the time, it did not spoil the trip in anyway. We will be returning to stay at The Victoria and will take our friends with us!

We popped in to the Victoria on a walk around the area. We did not eat but had drinks and it is clear that they know how to keep a good pint. There were a selection of locally brewed ales and the person serving us was knowledgeable about all of them. The Victoria feels like a proper English pub. The menu does look lovely and next time we will take advantage.

Stayed for one night the weekend before lockdown 2.0. Beautiful little pub in a tranquil setting in the Dales. Felt cosy and comfortable all evening, with the weather awful outside! To our surprise though, still lots of customers sat outside all evening (under cover) despite the weather. Peter and Sue the landlords are lovely and accommodating and it was a pleasure meeting them. The room was beautifully decorated, feeling homely and fresh, with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom. Peter’s breakfast the following morning was by far the best full English I’ve had in any hotel we’ve stayed. We will definitely be back next year when it’s possible! We ate here on Saturday after venturing out for a walk with the dogs. Social distancing seemed to be working well and they explained the protocol pretty well but I think they were concentrating too much on the current situation and this showed in their food order. Food looked and smelled lovely but my burger had to be sent back due to being undercooked and we specifically asked for NO beans in the nachos due to my allergy but when they arrived there were beans present so unfortunately I had to stay clear. We didn’t bother pestering about the nachos after the burger because they were clearly working hard and a little stressed themselves which is understandable in the situation.Belly pork was beautiful and the pizza was equally as nice so not all bad at all but I do think they need to remember that the rules with food allergies still apply. Food is a little pricey but this is to be expected with the location of the business.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Having had a couple of previous visits to The Victoria Inn - both quite pleasant - I decided to take my friends there for dinner after a long day’s walking. What a mistake! We ordered food from a menu where most dishes had been crossed out with a pen, and having being told that there is no fish. While ordering we were told that there were no lamb cutlets and that the steak pie was actually cottage pie (!). Nevertheless, and despite already feeling quite annoyed from all this and the “landlady’s” rotten attitude and non-existent customer care, we placed our order and paid. Three of the dishes were delivered around 45min later by a flustered “chef” (who apparently is also the waiter). A few minutes later he delivered two more dishes - jacket potatoes - completely inedible and uninspiring-looking on the plate. He proceeded to tel us that they were out of chicken and so we had to change three of the remaining dishes. My friends told the person behind the bar (“Matthew”) that they wanted a refund for the jacket potatoes as they were not going to eat them. One and a half hours after placing our order 2 more dishes materialised - the £9 breakfast consisting of a plateful of baked beans, 2 small sausages, a slice of bacon and an shrivelled egg which looked like it had be dropped and picked up from the floor. That was the final straw! We complained to “Matthew” who was not impressed or interested and said (in a rude manner - one thing they are consistent about at this establishment is their rude manners) that we were talking to the wrong person. When the right person came to see us she did not want to hear anything from us, turned her back on us and proceeded to give us a full refund for all the food. She implied we do this systematically and was rude and abusive towards us. We told her in no uncertain terms that waiting for 2hrs for a food order only to be served inedible excrement was unacceptable and pointed out that she should be apologetic for her incompetence as the manager of this place rather than accusing us of trying it on. Tired and hungry (upset and annoyed) we drove back to Malham and went to Lister Arms where we had one of the best meals ever! My review for them is already posted. Sorry for the long rant but this has been the worst experience of my life. Being accused of trying to swindle money when 2hrs after ordering a burger I hadn’t even laid eyes on it is a bit too much for me! AVOID at all costs! It’s not worth the hassle!

The pub lacks any rural charm and is very much a local venue. This in itself might be something to recommend it, but sadly not. The service is underwhelming, the decor befitting a true country pub but lacking anything of note. There is not a lot of space in the lounge bar area, you will be cheek by jowl with the drinkers, which is a bit intimidating because of the very local, adult nature of the bar.

Rooms clean but didn't do a breakfast earlier than 0900, so we had a multipack cereal, long life milk, a tube of yoghurt and a sugary breakfast bar! Not a breakfast one would link with a £90 room. The evening meal we had was average with an over-cooked gammon. Unless you have plenty of money and a late riser avoid this place. On the positive side they did upgrade us to a larger room when they realised we were a father and daughter.

Under the previous managers the Vic had improved significantly with great homemade food and a vastly improved/updated decor (which had been the same for as long as we'd been living nearby-a decade). Sadly with the 'new new' managers the place is declining again rapidly. The pub has the potential to be a great (and I would assume profitable) Dales pub, much like the Listers in Malham, but sadly anywhere trying to sell frozen chips while going back in time and installing a massive TV and fruit machine in this area is destined to fail. It is quite possible that the new managers are tied into some awful profit related contract with the new owner but it is a huge loss to the village to undo the good work that had been put in place restoring this pub in the last few years.Sadly even when passing by and walking through the adjoining churchyard we now find there are discarded sugar sachets/coffee sticks et al which I assume just aren't cleared up anymore. Add that into the fact that at 6pm the managers were sitting outside with aquiantances swearing loudly (in fairness that might not have been the managers all the time, rather their friends) and not manning the bar, hence when someone wanted a drink they had to come outside to find them. Given we were with our young child at the time this was most disappointing in terms of the swearing... This place could be a goldmine for the right managers /owners, but they need to judge their potential clientele better aiming for the Listers/Angel standard and not a rough pub that is off putting to locals and tourists alike.

Popped in for a bite to eat after walking and found a free table. The bar staff and manager were very helpful and friendly. My husband ordered a pie and I had a cheeseburger with fries. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal and mine was pretty good. The portions were a good size and reasonably priced and we didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive. The pub welcomes walkers and dogs and has a car park. Worth a visit.

As a local, I've frequently eaten at this pub for several years. Reviews up to April 2017 give a fair description/critique of the Victoria. However, the pub's now changed hands and, sorry to say, there's a deterioration. The menu frankly, lacks a lot in comparison to earlier offerings - no fish and chips, no Sunday roasts, no home made pie, etc - is anything home made? In fact, the current menu has few attributes to put it ahead of average with, frankly, some items only just satisfactory. The beer's still OK with a selection of real ales/lagers, and the friendly and welcoming managers try hard within limits (I'd guess, under a tight set of profit-related controls from their absentee tenant boss). The Victoria has been top performing as a typical Yorkshire Dales inn over the past few years. But sadly, in the food arena, it's now going down hill. And, its character has changed with the introduction of a pool table, 50" TV and a fruit machine (not, at least for me, the stuff of a country pub). One hopes that the decline can be arrested.

Having never stayed here before, we were looking forward to a little trip away and thought after seeing previous reviews that it would be a lovely pub/hotel. The pub it's self could do with a lick of pain and a tidy up and the food needs improvement, although it was funny at the time, playing 'pie pot luck' is not really acceptable!! It's a shame for a pub based in such a beautiful location that they have not taken advantage of the local suppliers and served food from local people. The two guys were really friendly and have only taken over recently, hopefully things will only improve. The accommodation was very basic, no mirror, no TV, no hairdryer etc. Also, two single beds in a double requested room. Not sure we will be staying there again anytime soon.

My wife and I came here for two night at Easter. It's a great location and a cozy warm pub with local beers a traditional basic menu and good atmosphere. The owners are lovely, very welcoming and laid back. Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed and the bathroom had a powerful walk in shower. Great after a long walk!Would definitely stay here again.

We've come in for meals at the Vic a few times since it changed hands a few years ago and it gets better every time. Not only is the food really tasty (and for the Dales not priced at tourist levels which is great!) but everyone working there is really friendly and welcoming and our son loves their chips! The decoration is now in-keeping with a modern village pub, and it looks like the current owners are working really hard. It is certainly worth a visit if you're passing.

Stopped here on the way back from a jaunt up Malham Cove, we arrived just after 2.00 on a Saturday and not too many about. After we ordered it started filling up but was a really pleasant and peaceful place to sit beside the fire. Food was top notch, I'd steak and ale pie, my wife burger and chips and my wife's sister fish pie. Servings were good size for lunch time, not too big but left us all well fed after a morning of exertion. Will definitely be back next time we are in this neck of the woods.

We stopped at this pub on our way to spending new year in Malham ....and were so glad we did. This is how I remember pubs from years ago...walked over to the bar where we were greeted by a friendly guy...ordered a drink and food...My hubby had the steak and ale pie whilst I went for the sausage and mash.....I can only describe the meal as heaven on a plate....this establishment is a must if you are visiting this area...

We are just finishing off a week staying a few doors down from the Victoria and have been in several times. The people that run the pub have been great from start to finish and we found the pub really welcoming and a lovely place to spend a few hours with the kids and very dog friendly. This is a really good option as the Lister Arms and Buck Inn in Malham get very busy. Steak and Ale pie is not to be missed!

Having looked at the pubs in Malham village we found them overpriced and very tourist oriented so we went slightly further afield to the Victoria. Most welcoming and was much more the locals pub with a heavy domino session taking place. The beer was good and the food excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely pub and we were made welcome. The menus are pinned above your head, with quirky food prices (eg £9.21)! The traditional meals of gammon and burgers were fine. Two of the party ordered curries - neither looked very exciting and they came with either rice or chapati - no naan, no poppadum or side dishes or pickles. Some of us ordered jam roly poly for pudding - really disappointing. Two thin slices of pudding, with a smear of custard they looked really unappetising. They did bring a jug of custard to add to it, but it didn't really help. The pudding looked over-microwaved and hard. Really not worth £6. So several of the party left still feeling hungry. A shame, as it is a friendly place with a lot of atmosphere.

Its an ok place to stop for one night but we wouldnt stop here again.Room was very comfy, the bathroom was tiny you couldnt swing a cat in there, the shower was even smaller - but was clean and new. There is no tv in the room which is ok as it is stated in the booking details, the one thing that could be done to improve the rooms is maybe some pictures / mirrors as they are a bit bland and bare. There are no door numbers on the doors either and they could do with a sign at the top of the stairs asking guests coming up on the landing to keep the noise down.

This is a traditional pub, which does B&B and food (Except on Mondays). The room was small but comfortable. No TV, which could be a plus or a minus. But the internet connection is good enough to get TV on your laptop or tablet.Beds very comfortable, and the shower was small bet with a good power. The food in the bar, and the drinks are reasonable price, and the food very good home cooking with very ample portions. There are loads of walks and local attractions, but the top visit is Malham Cove. Lots of committed walkers, but we are strollers and had a good visit.

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
