The review is long overdue! As a Tripadvisor newbie I was thought it only right to include my very favourite restaurant in my reviews. Le Caveau is an incredibly special treasure in the heart of Skipton. The service is always outstanding and Chef Mark, and his trusted team, go out of their way to ensure a personalised and excellent experience. The food is consistently beyond delicious and Mark often challenges his guests with unique, diverse, interesting and exciting menu choices. In comparison to other restaurants around the area the value for money is awesome, it’s crazy that a meal of top quality award winning food at Le Caveau can often cost less than a very basic ‘gastropub’ in the same locality. This restaurant will always hold a very special place in my heart and I can’t wait to visit again very soon. Top tip. If you see Tonka Beans anywhere on the menu, order them. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

What a fabulous meal - the best we have had in a very long time - from being greeted at the door to reluctantly leaving. The service and food quality were excellent . We were a table of 4 and all had 3 courses but selected all different choices - we all agreed that the food was amazing a really nice touch for Chef to come and check if we were enjoying the food . This place isn't just about the food , its about the whole ambience - we loved it and will be back :)

WOW what a great experience. We had the tasting menu which was absolutely fantastic, we also had the flight of wine which we would recommend, only one of the wines wasn't of note. The staff are brilliant, the waiter soon gets a handle on each table and is easy to banter with, the chef if there too, I hate chefs who hide in the kitchen.

Enjoy eating delicious food in an 1800’s prison. Two chaps running this restaurant are friendly and welcoming. We chose from the set menu plus daily specials. Small and cosy restaurant in centre of Skipton with great food and service. Specials available in addition to menu on website. We each chose different starters and mains and the flavours and presentation were very impressive. The chocolate dessert was a mixture of textures and yummy. We really enjoyed the meal and felt it was great value for the quality offered.

We visited Le Caveau in Skipton having seen some great reviews on Trip Advisor. We really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is quite small, but this created a lovely friendly atmosphere and it was really great to see the chef come round and help with the service and chat with guests. Sadly, it is too far away to become a regular for us but we will definitely return next time we are in the area and would also strongly recommend a visit. The menu offers a great selection and if you fancy them all then you can enjoy a taster menu. You will not be disappointed. The staff are really helpful, and the menu offers really tasty food at a great price.

First time here and will DEFINATELY return ... Booked for my husband's 73rd birthday as a treat as read several reviews so we're looking forward to something special....and this place ticked all the boxes...a very special venue, former fourteen hundreds gaol vaulted ceilings very intimate and relaxed setting. Staff were extremely attentive yet not in your face. Food cooked by Mark was delicious. Menu choice was extensive. Choice of drinks very good. In all everyone made our special day extremely enjoyable and not forgettable. We would definitely recommend this place....there are only nine tables and so you would need to book well in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed out meal, the ambiance, the staff, everything was perfect 🥰 💞 👌

Stayed at hotel Rendezvous for two nights and made several searches on line for good restaurants in Skipton. Le Caveau was rated 1st out of 81 so we were very eager to visit. We were not disappointed : the staff were welcoming and helpful and the food was stunning. One of the best meals we have had in years. Our third visit to this lovely restaurant and as usual another excellent evening. The restaurant is underground and has a great cosy atmosphere. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We were looked after by Alistair who was very personable and professional. We didn’t feel rushed when looking at the menu. We chose from the specials and the evening menu. All the food was delicious and well cooked by chef Mark. We were presented with a complimentary small cup of curried sweet potato soup and delicious home made bread, just enough but very welcome. We had salmon and spring onion tart and scallops for starters then duck breast and lamb for our mains ( to be honest, as there was a £3 supplement on the scallops, duck and lamb I would have liked more than two small slices of lamb as it was so delicious!) We shared a gorgeous tonka bean crème brûlée for dessert. With two bottles of lager and a bottle of wine, the total bill was £116 which we thought was very reasonable. We will definitely be back to Le Caveau, thanks for all your hard work.

Last minute choice for dinner. Usually I wouldn't leave a review unless it's a 5/5 because I'm not into publicly calling somewhere out, or being a keyboard warrior like the majority of TA. However, I mention these because I think if changes were made, this place would be quite a good place to dine. First of all, I think the manageress was polite and helpful, however, the wine we ordered was wrong and then we received a lesson on alternate reds, and that based on our mains order, this red would be better suited. Ok, fine. But you could have just said it was unavailable, as it eventually transpired. The food was good. We mentioned our enjoyment of the meal, but that the dishes could have done with a little 'je ne sais quoi' however, again there was an insinuation that we were uneducated in food, wine, etc. So left feeling a little patronised. I understand places are proud of what they do, and would defend it to the hilt. But sometimes just be plain and upfront. The setting is lovely, in a 16th century prison. Lovely. I do hope it was a one off, as we will probably return at some point.

We made a last minute booking on a Tuesday evening. Finding the place in skipton took time, really was hidden as we missed it the first time. Once inside we were pleasantly surprised by the surroundings, warm and comfortable. Complementary tasters were great From the limited menu we ordered different starters, mains and dessert. The homemade black pudding starter was excellent. The duck course was cooked as requested and along with the cod was very taster and presented well. To finish Chocolate and ginger tart for me and a selection of local cheeses for my wife. Overall a great setting wonderful experience from the staff and above all the fine cooking. Highly Recommended.

Carefully thought out menu with the relevant wine carefully paired. As per last year the owner/chef was on hand and was happy to discuss the food which was an added dimension and bonus. Every single course was an utter delight superbly presented and some of the best food we have ever had! Le Caveau doesn't have the most attractive of entrances, as it's down some iron steps on the corner of the High Street and the sign looked like something from the 80s - but once you're inside it's a little gem. The cellar is small but not cramped, and it's nicely decorated with fairy lights to give it a cosy feel. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, even advising us on a break in the rain to get back to our car (it turned stormy while we were inside, with thunder rumbling overhead!)The menu was quite small, but none of us struggled to find something we wanted. We were provided with some lovely tomato and herb bread rolls to begin, which was nice as my soup starter didn't come with its own bread. The arancini I had for main was absolutely delicious. The potatoes and vegetables came separately for us all to share, and they were lovely too. The white chocolate and cranberry creme brulee dessert was very tasty. We couldn't fault the food at all - it all came out quickly and was served nice and hot. They even had Campari to drink, which my husband bet my father-in-law they wouldn't have! So he was very pleased. He requested it with crushed ice and they were happy to oblige.I would definitely recommend Le Caveau if you're in Skipton, and I can't wait to go back!

Celebrating my wife’s birthday our family stayed at the wonderful Woolly Sheep inn and knowing Le Caveau was nearby and had good reviews on trip advisor I had pre booked a table for 4. Firstly all the covid rules were adhered to , the restaurant had its plan and staff members followed it and so did we , so as we all got seated and took off our masks and settled down we noticed how nice the restaurant is, I would say it has a very cosy feel to it , somewhere you could take someone for an intimate meal. The place was full ( Saturday night) but it didn’t feel crowded and we had plenty of space. The 2 ladies serving worked extremely hard to ensure everyone was attended to and very pleasant and friendly too. We ordered starters , mains , desserts , wine etc all of which we devoured with gusto, I personally had the pate starter, pork and black pudding main ( amazing) and panna cotta for dessert (divine). This restaurant is quality, they are a small team but they all work perfectly together to deliver a sumptuous meal ( must compliment the chef he clearly knows his craft) . If I’m staying in skipton again I won’t hesitate to use this restaurant again. I hope and pray that all the staff keep their jobs after this lock down because it would be a crime for this restaurant to close.

An evening trip, to celebrate visit by family and a birthday. Had wanted to try for ages and this provided the excuse, having seen Proprietor Mark regularly buying interesting fresh fish from the excellent George Wilson in the market. No disappointment! A delightfully small and friendly restaurant, with a commendably short but interesting and original menu. Chef Mark is very much in evidence, circulating and chatting in between cooking creatively original dishes that both look and taste fabulous. Excellent, friendly service. Fairly priced. Our daughter, who lives in the South East and works in London said it was the best meal out she had eaten this year!

Excellent lunch with friendly and polite service; interesting menu and, of course, beautifully cooked and presented food throughout. My partner and myself were both really impressed by the all of the courses including a delicious 'homemade smokey beans with goats' cheese and artichoke heart'; a first-rate 'slow-cooked pork belly with black pudding sausage roll' and a splendid 'pear, chocolate and almond tart with salted caramel ice-cream'. Outstanding!

We had lunch here last Thursday to celebrate our 32nd Wedding Anniversary, The food was excellent, the serving staff very friendly and attentive and it was a delight to be eating out again in these surreal times we are living through. We felt quite safe as there was lots of hand sanitiser and the waitress carefully wiped down menu cards and tables as soon as others left.

When I arrived, I was a little worried that I'd chosen the wrong place, nobody was there and I thought it looked tired. What a pleasant surprise, to realise that the food was lovely and the service was too.Wasn't sure about the menu and I ordered something for a starter which was out of my comfort zone (potato cake with poached egg) it was delicious and my ma was enthusiastic about her black pudding which was so light. For main we both had chicken, very nice but I wasn't struck about the sauce, my ma enthused about the vegetables.Dessert was with a difference.... chocolate mousse with ginger, definitely an acquired taste.Lattes to finish, overall a lovely meal and definitely worth a visit.

We visited here (not for the 1st time) back in February for our wedding anniversary. This place is a little gem. Extremely good value for money, delicious well presented seasonal food from a well thought out menu and efficient professional service from all the staff.

What can I say that hasn't already been said - not much really. This was our first meal out after lockdown and our first choice as ever was Le Caveau. It just does not get any better than this. Simply the best.

What a find this was. We were a bit dubious when we walked down the stairs but were met with a lovely warm welcome. The food is delicious, beautifully prepared, cooked and presented. Even the bread at the start of the meal was out of this world - Branson pickle and cheese! I had steak my husband had the lamb special followed by cheese and rhubarb, orange and stem ginger mess - all wonderful........... Definitely recommend.

OMG, first and certainly not the last visit to this wonderful find. We visit Skipton once a year and I had noticed the restaurant previously but hadn’t thought it looked that promising from the outside but booked on the strength of the feedback. So glad I did, we were warmly welcomed in the cosy bar then taken through to dine.I wasn’t overly hungry so just had lamb stew with mash which was on the specials board, calling it lamb stew doesn’t do it justice, it was incredibly tasty. Hubby had a starter of salmon which he said was the best salmon he had ever tasted. He then had the pork on the specials board which he also enjoyed. I then had the cheesecake which again was very tasty. There was a good choice on the normal menu along with additional specials available, all sounded a bit more interesting than your average fayre. This is a very small restaurant with few tables so recommend booking. We had a chat to the chef afterward who also seemed lovely, he certainly knows his stuff. Will definitely be coming back here again, now our favourite place to dine in Skipton.

Me and my partner had a fabulous meal here. Tucked away down the stairs your wondering what you may find. But isn't that the case always when your digging for diamonds. We certainly found one here. Situated in an old rustlers prison it has kept its original features (including a waist shackle) however it is refurbished with a carpet now and not a stone floor with unspeakable dirt lol.The atmosphere and food where spot on for the price in fact I would have paid a lot more for the experience. 3 courses of the most fantastic food for less than £30. The chef was eager to tell us about his produce and where he got it from (even giving us a leaflet for the shop). The front of house lady was really accommodating and friendly. You got the impression nothing was too much bother. All in all a must to have evening meal while in Skipton. Please don't miss it :)

It is easy to miss this great restaurant as it is located in the old prison below a chain store, We had the set menu which was varied and suited all our party, the specials board was linked to the fixed menu in as much that a small additional charge was made for some dishes but others were available without any extra chargeI started with Goats cheese followed by Guinea Fowl with the sweet of Chocolate tort all served by the friendly staff would recommend

Visited here for the first time with friends for my birthday. I had been set a fairly high expectation and Mark and the team did not disappoint. The date happened top coincide with Burns night so haggis was on the menu - in various guises. We had a variety of dishes between us and they were all delightfully cooked, presented and served. The little attention to details by the staff, including preparing the table with our chosen wine (uncorked and breathing), water etc just added to the experience. The menu is fixed price and the charge is extremely reasonable for the value/experience you receive. The wine menu is consistent with the overall quality of the restaurant and of equally good value. In summary, couldn't fault it. Will be back soon hopefully. Keep it up guys.

We stayed in Tosside Yorkshire for a family holiday from Scotland and looked to go out for dinner on our last night. We came across, The Old Vicarage Tearoom and we were so pleased we booked a table. All we said from the moment we took our first bites until we cleared our plates was WOW! The food was cooked to perfection. Two of us had Minted Lamb Pie, chips and peas and everything was all home made. Others had steak, never seen steak the size of a plate and cooked to requirement with no fat or complaints. And others had scampi. Couldn’t fault anything. If you want a delicious worth every penny meal out then we highly recommend. Make sure you book in advance as it’s a very small beautiful & quirky and can get booked up quickly. Complements go out to the amazing chef and host. If we have to travel from Scotland to eat here again we will. It’s amazing. Please book and try, we promise you will be amazed.

We booked to have a meal/gathering with all our friends and family after our wedding last weekend. The staff at Krafty Kitchen were great and we were given the upstairs area for our wedding meal. The food was great and the service was good. Communication was so good before the wedding as well and everything was perfect. Thankyou so much.

I’ve lived near ingleton my whole life (35years) and genuinely I was so happy when these guys set up. The food is really very special. The burgers are out of this world…especially the buttermilk chicken burger. Hands down the best burger around here and the they have loads of beers on offer if you’re into that. Good non alcoholic options as well if you’re driving! Phone up to get in early as it understandably fills up.
