Great coffee and superb cheese scones! A lovely place to stop off on our walks. Need to return for lunch as the meals coming out looked amazing. Good ambience and enjoyed the autumn pumpkin decorations.

There was a long wait to be served, which was fine, as we were acknowledged and told they were ‘just catching up’. Not a problem. All seven of us ordered separately but at the same time (if that makes sense). However, some of the order was wrong, the cakes weren’t great, and the items came staggered over such a long period, some of the group had finished their tea and cake before others had started. Just felt a bit disorganised and lacking energy despite there being many staff members present and it really wasn’t that busy. Maybe just an ‘off’ day? Didn’t leave us falling over ourselves to go back though.

The afternoon tea here is faultless . Everything was so freshly made and tasty . I loved the savoury selection and the home baked quiche was to die for, still warm out of the oven . Excellent value for money and I will definitely go back again .

I was in this delightful tearoom having afternoon tea with 3 good friends. The staff looked after us so well! They couldn't have been more helpful. There was no queue, we had excellent service. The afternoon tea was exquisite, far better than the famous one in Harrogate! The quiche was just perfect and freshly baked, as were the scones and cakes. This tearoom is a really special place which I have returned to many times and been consistently very happy with my experience. Many thanks, I will be back!

We have visited this gorgeous cafe many times in the past and I have previously posted a number of glowing reviews. Unfortunately ,we had a pretty poor experience on Sunday. As a group of 6 we were so looking forward to the treats in store after a gorgeous walk, but oh dear. Admittedly, it was a really busy summer’s afternoon and the queue ran the length of the cafe but there were plenty of spare tables outside and we were prepared to wait for the hot sandwiches and drinks we had ordered. And wait we did. There seemed to be confusion with orders and we received one of our drinks a good 40 minutes before anything else came. The 2 sausage sandwiches were very well done and quite dry but still no fruit scone. A good hour after arrival, we received everything we had ordered and the lady did apologise for the delay. Such a pity that this fave place in the dales was so below par but hopefully it will be back on track when we next visit.

Spread filling of sandwiches to edges of bread please! Everything fine except..........Just a small plea.... when you make sandwiches, could you put the filling right up to the edges? All the filling piled into the centre of the door step bread slices may look great when you quarter them and place them on their sides, but not so good to EAT! One gets a big mouthful of filling in the middle and then are left with thick wide crusts bare of anything. I appreciate that if you are making a toastie you might not want the filling to spill over the edges, but with a cold cheese and pickle sandwich, I don't expect to have to throw away 30% of the bread which must contribute 30% of the cost of the sandwich too.

I was given a voucher for afternoon tea with Prosecco as a birthday treat and what a treat it was. We had a cake stand each filled with delicious sandwiches, a quiche and a tart with salad. We had 2 different mini scones which were crusty on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle, macaroons, chocolate & coffee cake, a mini trifle and a mince pie. It was all served on vintage tea cups with plenty of tea and a nice big glass of Prosecco. Just as an Afternoon Tea should be….a true Delight. Thank you to all the staff

Warmly welcomed, our party of 15 were delighted with the pretty vintage china and glassware, bedecked with festive cheer and Christmas crackers. The service was impeccable and friendly. The cake stands were a picture of deliciousness! And the tea and coffee plentiful. What to enjoy first?... Of course, we were overfaced, but doggy bags were gladly offered. We found this wonderful tearoom on Tripadvisor before coming for an Autumn break nearby. What a fabulous place: great atmosphere, service, friendliness (including dogs), food, ambience and easy parking. The view from the window over the valley and Hebden Beck was spectacular, and outside you could even choose to sit in huts in the garden where hens roamed free. We came for morning coffee at the beginning of our stay, and returned for lunch a few days later at the end. Both times we treated ourselves to a mug, from the shop display, to take home. Thank you. Giving a poor review may seem a tad unfair on what is a nice little coffee shop in a quaint North Yorks village, but this was my third visit and it’s always the same: incredibly slow. There seems to be plenty of staff, we counted 5 at least, but whatever system there is doesn’t work very well. I can understand a wait for food that is freshly prepared but 20 minutes for 2 coffees?? Surely the best system is to make the coffees etc as people order and pay? Then at least the customer has something, and frankly is more likely to then order a second cup? It’s not my business and it probably makes a tidy sum, but the customer experience could be a lot better.

This tea room looks lovely - the old school building and gardens are delightful and very well kept. Unusually for the area, there is virtually nothing on offer for those who need to avoid gluten - and also the menu has one of those catch-all disclaimers that's designed to discourage anyone with any food issues from eating there. I find these universal "we can't guarantee that ANY food is free of ANY allergens" warnings quite bemusing - any professional caterer would know that if you take reasonable precautions (eg. wiping down surfaces, cleaning utensils between uses - in other words, the sort of things you should be doing as a matter of course, to earn a good hygiene rating) - there is vanishingly little chance of cross-contamination of allergens in a well-organised kitchen. The Coeliac Society offers lots of information (and training) to those establishments who would like to welcome coeliacs, rather than warn them off. The non-coeliac in our pairing enjoyed their slice of cake, and the coffees were good, although the service was really slow. They had nice little sheds in the garden that were bookable in advance - a great idea for staying socially distanced in the outdoors, but dry and cosy, in the unpredictable Dales weather.

I guess I was a little sceptical at first sight of the lunch menu for The Old School Tea Room. Here we were in a village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, and I for one was expecting something good, but basically, well… old school? So the quantity of items with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern leanings and ingredients, not to mention vegan options, fashionably super-healthy salads, and tarts with assemblies of fillings that at first sight you’d not expect within the same pastry enclosure, came as a bit of a surprise. Ploughman’s Lunch? Nowhere to be found. Instead, how about, say, the platter of houmous, vegetables crudités, falafels, wholemeal pitta, and couscous? Actually, none of us had that, but without exception what we did have was plentiful, tasty, and unmistakeably made with love and skill on the premises. Scepticism was banished in particular by the signature “Tart of the Day”, ingredients including sun-dried tomatoes and olives among other things, of which such a large slice arrived and with such a copious fresh salad and mound of delicious chips (chunky, well-seasoned and well-done, cut from small potatoes with the skins left on), that there was no room left to sample the array of fabulous-looking home-made cakes. Clearly another visit is called for.

We had a lovely family lunch at the Old School Tearoom today. It was busy so I was glad that I booked! We had tart of the day with chips and salad, veggie chilli with avacado, cheese and sour cream and ham, egg and chips. All of these dishes were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. We finished off with Victoria sponge and a Raspberry Macaroon. This place comes highly recommended by us and is a lovely location for a lazy lunch. In the summer we walk to Hebden from Burnsall along the river which is a very pretty walk with a suspension bridge and stepping stones. You can also sit outside the cafe and there’s a park next door for little ones.

Had a fantastic lunch here with some gorgeous vegan treats here on the day of our engagement! The manager and other staff were aware of the surprise that was in store for me later that day (unbeknownst to me at the time) and went above and beyond to ensure that myself and fiancé were given star treatment. The vegan treats were absolutely stellar. Truly a gem of a place!

I return time and time again because it’s the best!. Warm and welcoming summer or winter - just had another amazing vegan burger followed by a huge slice of delicious cake. I love to start my walk with a scone and coffee here and finish with a full blown lunch - and often while away a few more hours chilling over coffee .. and more cake - perfection

As always the food was amazing , but as a couple we were shown to a table and asked if we would share, which wasn't a problem. as the table was close to the one behind it and lady was already eating i took the seat that was already at the end as i could not have it into the available gap ..i am am 6 foot tall and had a winter coat on as the table was next to the door. The chair i was at was in front of the toilet door a very busy toilet , the door banged into me or i was asked to stand up every time someone went in. When the lady moved from the table next to me i moved opposite my partner, unfortunately i was then asked to pull my chair in as they wanted to seat a new customer behind me, the gap as not wide enough fro 2 dinners, i suggest i just leave and the waiter stormed off and we heard a tray been thrown. Other dinners commented to me that the request was unreasonable and that i dad already been very patient with the toilet door. The waiter asked we if i was okay and i explained how i felt and i was given a free drink for my next visit.

Another fab visit today. The cakes were amazing and the service was fantastic as always. Your team always go out of their way to do anything the help, even altering the ingredients of my lunch today. They are a credit to the Tearooms, so friendly and accommodating. Thanks so much and see you all when we are next in the area.

If you're thinking of coming here, definitely prebook. We're glad we did, as we arrived and there wasn't a single table free. We had our table booked for 1pm, and the people on it didn't leave till 1:15pm which we thought was incredibly rude, especially because they could see us waiting.

Visited your tea rooms with my sister-in-law from Australia. We had a window seat, the view was beautiful. We were very lucky as the sun was shining. The afternoon tea was amazing. Presentation and service was perfect. Good choice of food, and plenty of it, in fact we had to take a doggy bag back to our hotel. Highly recommended.

Well, we’re back in the Dales again and the Old School Tea Room is as great as ever. We’ve been a few times through the week and can recommend everything on the menu + the coffee’s great. They cater for all allergies effortlessly. An absolute jewel of the dales. We’ll be back.

Great little cafe - lovely food, nice decor, friendly staff, but unfortunately almost always a very (very) long wait for your food. We've been coming for years, for the good points, and I could forgive the occasional long wait if the cafe is unexpectedly busy, but it's become such a regular feature that I don't think we'll be returning. Allow anywhere up to an hour to be served even something as simple as soup or a sandwich - but it will be good when it comes...

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
