The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

Just enjoyed some lovely large haddock & chips with curry sauce!! Cooked freshly & the fish size was more a jumbo than large!! And for the curry it certainly is the best I've had yet from a chip shop. 10/10

Great place, friendly service and good food. Excellent coffee and the fries, man the fries are so nice! Get yourself a beer here and chill. Warm and cosy in winter by the log burner

Highly recommend this restaurant, the food is always delicious, the service with a smile , lovely greeting. Been twice this week , love it so much. Sunday lunch is outstanding, you won’t get better elsewhere.

I was expecting great things from the restaurant based on tripadvisor reviews and the upmarket surroundings. However, I was extremely disappointed with the meal. The sauce on the chicken was congealed and the bhaji's were so hard i couldn't eat them. We decided not to stay for dessert. The staff were friendly and efficient but that's the only positive comment I feel able to make. I doubt we will visit the restaurant again.

Booked for an early evening meal. The pub was extremely warm and welcoming and the service was excellent. There was a good menu supported by a comprehensive specials board. The meal was delicious and really quite faultless.

I was staying with friends at a nearby caravan site. We found the Old Vicarage and ate there three times during the week. On quiet days they even delivered food to our site nearly 1 mile away. The food was always excellent. The highlight for me a large tasty lamb shank with roast potatoes and 6 (yes six) different vegetables. On Sunday afternoon I went back on my own to complete my survey! It was Mother’s Day and had to sit outside in the sun with lovely views waiting for a fantastic prawn sandwich with side salad and then a cream tea. There was a wait but well within expectations given the restaurant was fully booked. I found all the prices VERY reasonable. We will definitely be returning. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Second time having breakfast at The Pines for me, third for my mum and brother with whom I come on holiday to lovely Filey. I can see how the local older folk love this little cafe but you don't have to be old to appreciate its charm or indeed a good, reasonably priced English breakfast. Malcolm is a great host with his cheeky banter!

Superb meal in this charming restaurant. The proprietors are very experienced in their field and the whole dining experience is how it should be. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. Will definitely return next time I’m in the area. The scallops were the best I’ve ever had.

We didn't realise the Fox is quite a drive from Saltburn-by-the-Sea but don't let that put you off...we had the warmest welcome, friendly service and awesome food..all in all a great experience and a lovely evening ❤️
