Went for coffee and cake really good

Went to the oakhouse for the first time on the 23rd of March with 8 friends to celebrate my birthday. Very noisy on arrival, not a great start! 4 of my friends had brought their own wine, but as I don't drink I asked for a jug of water. The waiter, possibly the owner came over to take our orders. Very limited menu, the only thing I liked on it was the steak & ale pie so had to opt for that. The food, when it came was very nice , but as is always the case with most restaurants , the thimble full of gravy was nowhere near enough so I asked the guy for more. To give him his due he brought back a tray with 3 pots of gravy on it. We only just had time to use 2 before the guy was back and whipping the tray away! Very pushy and we felt as if he wanted us to go as soon as possible! Enjoying a chat after our desserts , the guy brought the bill , and then at 9.45 he came over and said can you start finishing your drinks ladies!! It clearly states that they are open till 11pm on Sat nights! To cap it all when looking at the bill , we had all been charged 1.50 corkage even though 2 of us had only water and coke! At just turned 10 pm I was outside waiting for a lift and he came out locked up and drove off! They need to change the opening times to 5pm until when I feel like closing!

Pork belly bites and lamb were amazing again. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding looked great and I’m told was out of this world. Great staff.

Excellent food. Had the pork belly and burger.. more than enough! Tried a bit of sticky toffee pudding and was amazing too, very light and moist. Accommodating staff. Beautiful decor.

What a lovely cute little place. The food was amazing. We had the 3 course menu with 2 pints each and it came out at under 80 quid for it all. Amazing price for the quality of food. The duck was brilliant but the starters were the best! We will definitely be back xx

My husband and I went there for the first time last night … absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing and we were not waiting long. The staff were on the ball at all times, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will most definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious food, friendly attentive staff and an excellent kids menu. Can’t fault it. It’s not a typical ‘kid-friendly’ restaurant ie not designed for kids to run riot with a soft play but if you want to eat amazing food and feel welcome you’re in the right place.

According to the information on Google maps they open until 2.30 Saturday lunchtime. Arrived at 1 pm, the door sign said closed. I had read good reviews and decided to make a special trip for a light lunch with a friend. Perhaps the restaurant would like to reimburse 2 return bus fares at a cost of £6 if they can't be bothered to keep the opening hours information up to date and waste potential customers time and money. Smacks of a certain arrogance if they really don't care about keeping important information updated.

This was a great find. We went there specifically for the lamb, and it didn't disappoint. Beautifully cooked and perfect mint dressing. The venison was also really good. Very nicely cooked. The kids menu (sausage and mash) was of a high standard, not like the "long and burnt sausages from other places" (kid's words). Wine menu could do with more choices, but you can bring your own wine, so not really a problem. The room was a little on the cold side. We will definitely be back.

My parrner and I found this little gem whilst visiting locally for a wedding. The food and service was absolutly fantastic. I am ceoliac and its hard to find decent gluen free independant restaurants however the menu had a lot of varity and accommodated the belly pork as an option! Food was delicious! The staff were very attentive and chatty making us feel welcome.hot, Would definitely recommend going to the Oak House and if in the area again will come back!

This is one of the best restaurants around! Absolutely stunning food and friendly great service. We’ve been many times and look forward to our next visit. Very good value for money. We usually get a taxi as parking is very limited and I can’t get reception on my mobile without going outside but like I say this restaurant is worth a visit.

What a great evening! Had to pre book, sharing starter and dessert. Pre ordered mains. Acoustic duo (Laney and Lewis) where the entertainment - perfect for this venue! Food was delicious, all staff where welcoming and friendly. Everything had been sorted in advance. Can’t wait for next event!

Excellent ingredients, freshly cooked to perfection. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about menu and accommodating to mix and match selections. Small restaurant but tables well spaced for intimate dining. Lovely and clean. I have no idea why we haven’t been before to this little gem in our community. I had Beetroot Smoked Salmon with Ciabatta. Venison with mash and veg. Hubby had Calamari. Fillet Steak with peppercorn sauce. Baileys Cheesecake. Two Calypso Coffees. We took our own bottle of wine and paid a small corkage fee. They are licensed though. Well worth a visit.

Used to drink here when it was Royal Oak pub - Great to see how its been refurbished to a fine restaurant - Food was magnificent 😋

First visit ,food good quiet but festive music playing will go again

Fab Sunday lunch highly recommend definitely would visit again . We got in at last minute due to a power cut at the Crown and Cushion .

We have visited the oak house several times and the food is always top notch with great service in a great atmosphere. This time we had the lamb rump and the swordfish steak main courses and they were both superb. I have no hesitation recommending the oak house for some of the best quality food in Sheffield.

We booked for my boyfriends birthday to celebrate with his family who had come to visit and everything was perfection! Food, Service and Venue all stunning. Thank you for having us and it is now all our new favourite restaurant, even the guys coming from Nottingham 😂 Midweek deal is a great offer! See you soon x

Great, well presented food and generous portions (we could manage only two courses) Both starters were wonderful. The meat pie was excellent. The carrot pie sounded plain but was very tasty. The non pie options also looked good. We will definitely visit again soon.

Its really a 3.5 but there's no option. Starters was a share plate. Very nice. Mains, chicken and salmon were OK...slightly overcooked for my liking. Afters were poor. Cheesecake was not NY style, not to my liking and the brownie was hard. Two piece combo musicians were OK. They should be moved from the corner into the middle of the long wall along the front of the restaurant. It wouldn't cost losing any covers. Staff were busy, which made service seem functional. Would we go again - yes, as it was VFM - £35 p/h for 3 courses. Sharing starters and afters; pie/chicken/salmon mains to choose from in advance.

Exceptional food, can not find fault with anything - delicious. Nice touch from the chef to take time out and come and chat with us. We will definitely be back to this hidden gem in Chapeltown.

Nice place but parking not good on a Friday evening especially when it’s raining. Did manage to find a spot a few hundred metres away on the main road. Started with the king prawns which were very good. Followed this with the pie which wasn’t home made but I was told made locally. It was good but the whole plate needed a lot more gravy and variety of veg instead of the dried onions.

Food nice. But many items on menu not included in 2 courses for 20 pound offer. So makes it quite expensive. No parking even for disabled. Service ok. No outlook.

Great choice on menu and the pork belly bites didn’t disappoint. Mains were excellent and the staff very professional.

I was disappointed in our visit. Saturday night and nearly dead with no atmosphere. The food was expensive compared to other similar places. I had a steak which was dry and at £26 it should have been perfect. I thought the menu was limited and it just wasn’t the place I expected it to be. I would not return.

Booked Sunday lunch for Father's Day, as previously been for Mother's day and enjoyed it. However the menu was slightly different this time, so opted for Prawn Cocktail as a starter, as did three others of the party of 7. Quite disappointed, that in this starter was only 5 or 6 prawns (not even King Prawns), with two large chunks of dry bread (no butter offered). Mains were ok, but nothing to rave about and the beef was fatty around the edges and a little overdone for my liking. Roast potatoes a little bit anaemic looking and a stuffing ball that was very hard to cut through and tasteless. Desserts were nice. But really expected more for a total bill of £230+. Any why is it £3 per head more on Father's Day than any other Sunday Lunch service!! We won't be going back!

My friends and l went midweek for a birthday dinner, the starters were very nice, four of us had sea bass and one tuna, the tuna was overcooked l'm afraid so was tough. My friends had desserts which everyone enjoyed, there's a big but though because if you don't look at the menu most of the food on offer comes with a surcharge. It was very miss leading and although you can take your own wine with a corkage change of £1-50 we will not be coming back.

Great local restaurant with delicious food, the sea bass & accompaniments really well cooked & presented. Cherry Bakewell pudding for dessert wasn’t too sweet.Small, intimate restaurant, not a large menu choice but what they do they do very well. Efficient, friendly service & good value.

Nicely decorated restaurant serving American and Mexican food. Prices kinda high... which is rhe way things are going. Nobody complained too much, but about 1/2 of us won't return. Hamburger was pretty good. Service good.

Nice cosy restaurant, chips are nice and it’s good you can BYOB. But I probably wouldn’t go back because the vegetarian options are limited/basic and I’m not sure there are even any vegan options.

We had a 7pm table for 5 people on a Thursday evening. Almost all the tables were in use but this didn't affect the service or quality of the food as both were first class as usual.

Fabulous little Restaurant. Came in for Dads Birthday. We were welcomed by friendly waiters. Great atmosphere and excellent food, I woukd definitely recommend the fillet steak, mine was cooked just how i like it! Recently hired the Oakhouse for my 30th birthday and we couldn’t recommend this place enough! The venue is lovely, food was amazing and the owners made everything run perfectly. Would highly recommend the Oakhouse, we had the perfect night.

Our first visit today but it certainly won't be our last. You can bring your own alcohol with only a £1.50 per head charge; which these days is a real bonus. I had lamb rump which was superb. A trend that continued throughout every thing that was served to us. The service was very relaxed and you had plenty of time between courses. The prices don't reflect the quality on offer and you can't help thinking you are getting a real bargain which is very refreshing. Looking forward to our next visit!

I eat at the Oak House restaurant on Friday tea time. The food is restaurant quality but not expensive. I had the pan seared duck , it was delicious. I had white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The service wad excellent and to top it all the coffee was really good. While you can take your own wine, it would be good if the Oak House were able to serve alcohol. That said the all round experience was excellent and highly recommend the Oak House .
