Fischer's in Sheffield

Didn’t stay but ate for my birthday lunch. Made to feel very welcome and loved every minute. Great service from Otto. Thanks so much to the team for making me feel special! The food was sublime and the star of the show was the cod main course with saffron sauce. Otto added he brought the saffron from Morocco himself which was a lovely touch. Cant comment on the rooms has I didn't stay overnight but it's a beautiful place . A place we're you feel special . I didn't eat there we were just there for afternoon drinks and photos following a wedding ceremony . But it really is a beautiful place

So much hospitality! Hands down this is the best service I’ve ever received in any hotel; I felt quite spoiled. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped for self pampering. The lounge was a quiet place for tea or a little socializing before the exquisite multi course meal. The gardens were impeccable and evident in every meal. Fischer’s was my first experience in the UK and I will definitely return as it is unforgettable. Much gratitude to Neil, Otto, Michael, Jennifer and John, not to mention the entire chef staff- they are delightful people.

Stayed at Baslow Hall for the first time and ate at Fischer's Restaurant (which we have had meals here before) as part of a celebrating our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Well the staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and celebrating our Sapphire Anniversary with us! As ever the food was exceptional and was the choice of wine. The accomodation was excellent too with quite a magnificent bedroom and ensuite facility. Thank you so much to all the front of house staff and the Chefs and everyone in the kitchen for making our stay so memorable.

The customer service was outstanding, especially Alison on reception we couldn’t of asked for a warmer, kinder greeting when we arrived. She really made our stay a very happy & memorable one. Our room was very spacious with a lovely bathroom. Thank you ☺️

Visited Baslow Hall for my Birthday, we had booked for a meal in the restaurant and to stay overnight. We were welcomed as if we were one of the family, service was excellent. The Hall and gardens are absolutely immaculate, so much thought is given to anything you may lay your eyes upon. The rooms are so spacious, spotlessly clean, provide everything you could wish for. The food is amazing, so beautifully and delicately presented. Staff are knowledgeable about all dishes and wines they serve. The passion from everyone to ensure each guest has an unforgettable experience is genuine and makes it impossible, to not want to come back again... I will definitely be returning, just as soon as I can.. Thank you to everyone, especially Neil and Tim for a superb dining experience and for making my Birthday so very Special..

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend here! Rooms are lovely, the food is amazing and the team here are very helpful. Great location to be able to go for walks from the hotel, or travel further into the Peak District. We had dinner on our first evening and opted for the 6 course tasting menu, which was exceptional. There is a choice of three options for the main courses - at least one meat and a vegetarian option, so different tastes are catered for. Brilliant selection of wine and other drinks. A walk up to Baslow Edge on Saturday was amazing, as it was really misty on the way up, but cleared while we were at the top, to give us amazing views all the way across the valley, including Chatsworth House. Would highly recommend!!

Excellent lunch. Beautiful food and relaxing atmosphere. We went for lunch and were there for 3 hours. Could have stayed for another 3. Absolute treat. We'll be back.

Beautiful little manor in the middle of a beautiful Peak District town of Baslow(near Bakewell). We stayed for a few nights at the same time booked a Michelin started 6 course dinner. These people know their stuff from hospitality to food to taking care of the property. The quality and design of the rooms. The excellent table service and cocktails to the food that was served. Everything was perfect and beautiful. They deserve more attention. Never doubt staying at this manor whenever visiting the Peak District. Also a good jump point for hiking and super close to Thaddon Hall and Chatsworth House - all beautiful to visit in summer and winter. Thank you from an awesome experience. Best sleep and rest in months!

I was very lucky to be taken here for a significant birthday as a surprise. My wife had arranged for us, along with 8 friends to eat in one of the private rooms. The feel of the place is lovely, the rooms are very nice...but the food....it was out of this world. The Dippy Egg was incredible. All of this was supported by the very nice people who work there.

Fischer’s is something super special to be enjoyed and talked about for so long after you visit. The food was absolutely beautiful, stunningly presented with a service level out of this world. What a wonderful experience which was enjoyed by all four of us. Highly recommended.

Lovely unique place to stay, beautiful rooms set in stunning grounds

We had booked the Kitchen Bench option as a birthday treat for me and an experience for my wife as she is passionate about cooking. As we drove up the windy drive to the hotel restaurant, serenity peace and tranquility started setting in, the grounds are wonderful and the hotel is a lovey building with lots of character. The car park was easy to drive in and out of and about a 1 minute's walk from the hotel entrance. We were greeted by a tall, well dressed and well-mannered man who showed us to an outside terrace where we decided to have a drink before going in before the main event. Staff were patient and thoughtful when we asked for some time before we ordered drinks. Both our drinks were unique well made using some ingredients they grew in their garden and the staff were knowledge and proud of this fact. We also had couple of canapés on the terrace, we enjoyed one more than the other. We were then invited in to the restaurant however, I did not tell my wife that I had booked the Kitchen Bench dinning option so she was thoroughly surprised and over the moon when she realised where we were going to be dinning alone but with the staff all around us in a busy working kitchen with a panoramic view of all that goes into preparing a dish that looks like a work of art. Chef Adam invited us to sit, then after a brief formal introduction about how the kitchen works, we settled in for a night that was truly memorable. Throughout the evening Adam chatted to us, sometimes about work sometimes about life. He or a member of his team would explain to us what is in on the dish that was in front us. All the dishes we had that evening were delicious and I still cannot say which was my favourite, they were all great. Overall, this was an exceptional experience and an opportunity for my wife to see how a busy kitchen runs smoothly, effortlessly and how dishes come to life and for me to celebrate my birthday in style which Fischer's Baslow Hall exudes in abundance.

Lovely location with beautiful gardens. A nice outside terrace where you can just have a drink when the weather is fine. As well as rooms, they have a restaurant that serves top quality food. Well worth a visit.

Lunch Imaginative modern British food. Baslow Hall is a beautiful, 100 year old Grade II listed manor house located in the heart of the peak district Derbyshire. We have not been here for some time. As it was a lovely day, we decided to have a trip out and managed to get a last-minute reservation. What prompted us to go was last summer, we noted they had appointed a new head chef. Adam is a chef with pedigree. Having worked at Gleneagles, John's House and Sat Bains. So we knew that we would be in for something special. As soon as the snacks arrived, you could tell we were onto a winner. Tapioca /Onion/Parmesan 'Gazpacho' Bread & Butter First. Shoulder of Derbyshire Lamb, Anchovy, Leek. Hand Dived XL Orkney Scallop, Carrot, Dukkah. Max's Potatoes, Smoked Eel, Lovage. A delicious surprise from the chef. Second. Derbyshire Beef, Horseradish, Celeriac. North Atlantic Cod, Fennel, Turnip, Curry. Pre dessert-Coconut & Spiced Lime. Third. 70% Chocolate Marquise, Kalamansi, Coffee. Roasted English Apricots, Croissant, Crème Fraiche. Everything was outstanding, from the presentation to the quality seasonal ingredients and amazing flavours. Adam and his team served up the finest of dishes. Service was friendly and very professional. We shall have to return, and maybe try their kitchen bench. As we love to watch the team in action. Might even stay as they have eleven luxurious bedrooms.

Hugely classy venue selling first class food. Service is outstanding. Feels hugely special. And one time we couldn't find a taxi home we were able to pay a waiter to take us. Can't praise this place too highly.

Fantastic restaurant in a beautiful building! The house and grounds are stunning, and the experience inside perfectly matches the exterior. We started with Petit fours and drinks in the parlour, before moving through to the lovely and light dining room. I chose the Aged Carnaroli Risotto to start, followed by the Duck for main, and the passion fruit meringue for desert. All were presented beautifully, and the flavours well balanced. The confit duck was so tender it could have been eaten with a spoon! The staff were knowledgable about the menu and courteous throughout. It’s a 2 hour drive from us, but we will return for sure!

A quick visit for a business lunch, but what a treat. The staff were friendly and very attentive, but it was the food that stood out. I really enjoy very high quality dining and Baslow Hall did not disappoint. I will definitely return, maybe for an evening meal and stay. I'm sure it would be a real treat.

Had a lovely one night stay with a la carte meal and breakfast. We had a fabulous experience. The food and wine is simply exquisite. The meat and fresh water fish dishes are definetely recommended. Cote de Rhone red wine is top notch and tea and biscuits in rooms are also really good quality. The grounds are spectacular and highly recommended if you want to celebrate a special occasion.

We had to cancel our trip for a family reason and let them know 1 day before the trip and they didn't accept it, and immediately got all the booking fee from the bank account. Decorating a building is not enough to be a good hotel. Hospitality needs humanity. Think twice before making reservations.

Always a pleasure to return to Fischers. Traditional Sunday lunch with a twist in the form of a more sophisticated menu if one wanted something different. Pork belly OK. Beef lovely. Puddings fabulous.

My son treated us to three nights stay at this wonderful hotel and restaurant for my husbands 80th birthday. We had a wonderful stay, the staff were amazing, catered to our every need. Room was glorious, (we had Garden Room 4) with it's own private walled garden, and easy access to the Hall and car park. Breakfast was either full English, or you could have poached, scrambled, or fried egg on toast, or just fruit, whatever you fancied. Our first evening meal was at the near by pub, the Prince of Wales, food was of high quality and served by very friendly staff. Our other two evening meals were served at Fischers, and believe me, the food, as well as the service, was second to none, our son chose the five course option on booking. Every course was explained to us in great detail, how it was constructed, where the ingredients came from, and how it was cooked, (just like they do on Masterchef!) The wine list was extensive, but we plumped for Prosecco at every meal. During the day, you could book afternoon tea, or, as we did, be cheeky and ask for something to nibble at, a small cheese board was promptly organised by Tim, guest relations and reception manager, with the help of John, restaurant and hotel manager, two of the very helpful and friendly staff. I could go on, but you must experience this hotel for yourselves. We couldn't fault anyone, or anything, during our stay, personally, we were treated like V.I.P's! My daughter and son-in-law paid for us to spend one night in this hotel for joint 70th birthdays and our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We found the staff very friendly and professional from both in house and ground staff. The food was amazing and the gardens have got to be the best we have seen in any hotel we have stayed in. The room was spacious and we had a view over the garden. Well worth a visit.

Four of us dined in the wine room which is a beautiful setting. We had the tasting menu and wine pairing. The whole experience was fantastic. The food was great, the service was impeccable. The French gentleman who was standing in for the Sommelier was so friendly and knowledgeable and we were surprised to find out he wasn't the Sommelier as he was so good. We will certainly return.

Great food in a beautiful location.

We visited for my dad’s birthday and had a wonderful time. We aren’t particularly familiar with fine dining, but the staff here were incredibly friendly and attentive with great senses of humour - we didn’t feel out of our depth at all. The food was gorgeous, the portions appear small on the plate but they’re perfectly balanced and crafted and by the end of the meal we felt very pleasantly satisfied! My only drawback would be that I don’t know if the extra £30 for the 5 course compared to the 3 course was particularly worth the steep price difference as the extras you get are not especially substantial, however all the courses were lovely. I’d also definitely recommend coffee and petit fours following the meal! What a great treat, and we will definitely be back. It’s expensive, sure, but not any more so than similar establishments and you absolutely get what you pay for in terms of service, venue, atmosphere, and quality of locally sourced ingredients.

A traditional country mansion with an exceptional restaurant offering a choice of menus. Each menu has dishes with beautifully combined flavours which I have not tasted anywhere before. Recommended.

Fabulous place, we joined a family wedding breakfast here and it was just lovely. The food was exceptional. We didn't stay but hope to in the future. The gardens are beautiful. A perfect setting for a celebration.

We had the tasting menu with matched wines and it was superb - inventive and clever without being fussy or pretentious. The staff were very knowledgeable , friendly and efficient. From the moment we arrived we were dealt with professionally and politely by every member of staff ,our room was beautiful ,we stayed in a garden room ,we ordered drinks and they arrived in a matter of minutes ,the dinner was exceptional ,in every way ,simply delicious ,what a talented chef can honestly say one of the best meals we have eaten ,thankyou again to Fischers team we hope to stay again soon ,cannot recommend this hotel highly enough

Having made a booking in January for the first weekend of September for a special occasion this week my booking was cancelled by email - just over 2 weeks before we were due to visit. There was an option to speak to someone. Left a message, no reply. Called again and was told someone would call back. Over 3 days later nothing. I also took up the (offered) option of emailing (by return) and have not even received an acknowledgement. I spent the day ringing round the area endeavouring to find an alternative venue - to no avail. Whilst I accept there may well be issues I find the lack of communication and follow up wholly unacceptable.I shall not be visiting this restaurant and would urge others who wish for reliability and empathy for customers to do the same.

Best dining experience we have ever had

From start to finish, the experience was divine. The service was excellent, the waitress (who should have been climbing Mount Vesuvius, but covid meant she met us instead) was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. The food was out of this world. I would recommend the rabbit ravioli (which is not ravioli)... It blew my taste buds away. The wine menu was extensive, and they made a special day even more special. We will be back again.

An exquisite short break at this wonderful hotel. The staff were, without exception, excellent, knowledgeable attentive and friendly. The food is stunning, and the hotel and grounds delightful.

We had a booking for 26/27th May (booked in January, with deposit paid) which has just been cancelled today (7th May) with no apology, just that the booking needs to be rearranged. The booking was for our 20th wedding anniversary - Fischer’s were told this when we booked and it is the middle part of a 10 night break. We have been given 2 and a half weeks notice to find alternative accommodation! It seems that reopening date of 2nd June has been on Facebook and Twitter since February and Fischer’s have put more effort into advertising on social media than contacting their booked guests. It is now incredibly difficult to find alternative accommodation at such short notice. I have spoken to Fisher’s about this and have now received an apology, but no compensation was offered for the damage they have caused. They said that ultimately there was nothing they could do about it now and forwarded me a copy of an email they sent me regarding the cancellation that I did not receive and said the information was available on social media. I’m very disappointed that so little effort was made to ensure that we knew about their change of opening date. Thank you Fischer’s for ruining what was supposed to be a very special occasion for us, we feel very badly treated by you.

Amazing place to have dinner. Yes it's expensive, but it's an absolute experience! We had the tasting menu with wine flights, and we were not disappointed! We're lucky enough to have eaten out a lot pre-covid, but Fischer's was exceptional, the food was amazing and the wine pairings lifted the entire experience. The staff were very friendly and were genuinely interested in how we found the courses and our feedback - something we're not all that accustomed to in London. The sommelier really knew his wine and was very passionate about the pairings which showed both in enthusiasm and how well they went with the dishes. No it's not a cheap night out, but if you're looking for something for a special occasion, I couldn't recommend it more. My wife and I have pledged that we will definitely have to travel up from London again to visit Fischer's.

Loved the lunch we had here. We went for our anniversary so it was worth the price. The staff are lovely and there is a wonderful garden where they grow their veg and herbs. The menu is seasonal and is always fully booked so I suppose advance booking helps.
