The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

Went early Friday morning, looked a nice place so gave it a try. Was greeted with a very polite waiter. Ordered 2 sausage sandwiches and one bacon sandwich coffees and hot chocolate. Then had to pay before the food came, thought a little strange but hey ho that’s fine. Then the food came, the worlds worst sausages had been put into some bread, they were just cheap nasty tasteless sausages. The bacon was ok and the drinks were lovely but the sausages 🤢 I honestly can’t explain how bad they were. I was expecting some good quality butchers sausages not ground up camel dung. I really hope for others sake it’s just a blip and they had run out of the good stuff.

Had Sunday lunch here. Carvery was good quality and good value.

The pub closed suddenly earlier this year but has re-opened with a new landlord, The inside has been smartened up but they are not doing food again yet and the drinks prices (at least for cask beers) are much higher than the norm for this area. I understand that these are dictated by the pubco which owns the pub rather than the landlord but they are such that I am unlikely to return in the foreseeable future.

Very nice local type pub doing a very nice carvery dinner. Very generous with the meat servings that was beautifully soft and succulent. The staff were very polite and helpful. The pub is very nice and well kept and the large dining area is nicely bright and clean

Lovely spot for some quality food.. the team are amazing.. almost as good as the food !

Went in the evening a party of 4 and all of us ordered the steak and ale pie, we definitely were not disappointed. The food was great and so was the service. I will definitely be back when I'm in York again.

Called in here whilst on a motorcycle ride. Ordered buffet breakfast for 3. In a nutshell: No one serving at buffet bar so (after standing waiting for 10 minutes with nearby staff just ignoring us) we just had to grab a plate and help ourselves. Lots of items missing as trays had not been refreshed. Scrambled eggs not scrambled eggs- just a solid block! Cremated, dry sausages. Tasteless mushrooms. Fried egg slimy on top. Bacon smelt awful and had really thick white fat/rind. Black pudding was like shoe leather. One positive: the coffee wasn’t bad!

What a lovely find this was. Booked for my daughters birthday meal whilst staying in York. Very welcoming on arrival. The 2 servers were very polite, knowledgeable and efficient. 2 of us had the lamb rump and 1 the macaroni cheese. All food was cooked to perfection. Nice to see you could have a mini dessert with coffee (a lot of places don't offer this option). Would certainly recommend this place to anyone wanting good food and service.
