Hawthorn Farm Yeadon West Yorkshire in Ryedale

Avoid this place! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a very arrogant staff member who told us to check our vehicle reg plate in and that there was 'an unmissable big sign outside telling us to do so' (which had been blown about a bit outside so we missed it) nonetheless it was petty of him to say that. He also rushed us in for Breakfast despite us thinking about having lunch there instead of being rushed in with very little time to go 'sit down, order your breakfast, fantastic', I have never hated someone so much from a minute interaction with them. The breakfast was terrible, the Bacon tasted weird as if they tried to chargrill it, The young lanky chef who's only job was to ask for tickets was boneidol and rude. I had to ask him if there were more eggs coming and he huffed into the back. Everything was dry and I dropped 2 sausages on the floor trying to cut them, as they would not cut under my knife lol. The coffee was also cold and no one was attending the coffee / tea stand. The coffee was awful, got that refunded, but shame I didn't bother with the whole meal. I could go into more details but these were just the main points. It was only 7 or 8 quid, so it must have been really shocking for me to bother to complain as for that you usually can't go wrong, but this place was just really bad

Fabulous experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere, food delicious and hot, bonus didn't have to wait long. Customer service expeptional from David, Sophie was polite and friendly. Thank you also to Chef Jake and carvery team for fantastic food and service.

Came here for a sunday Lunch with some friends ,and it was great. Jake who served us our meat was super friendly and gave us really good portions.

Lovely food , good service , run out off Eaton mess though, suppose it only shows how nice it must have been!! Would definitely go again

Went in with a couple mates and needed a bit of help with ordering as it’s the first we had went so we go ask Annie and she was great helping us and talking about how the app works and even showed us where to go to grab the food all round great person

Fabulous breakfast! All staff were very welcoming and friendly. Dee was lovely, showed me where everything was. Great selection of cooked food.

Came for carvery lunch. Lovely food and lots of choice. The Yorkshire puddings were enormous! We were looked after very well by Dee.

This pub has a great atmosphere and loads of friendly, helpful staff. Perfect location for the airport or a family get together. We went for Sunday lunch. The good was amazing, best fish & chips we've had in a while. Wished we had the carvery, it smelled delicious and so many people had plates piled high! We will definitely visit again. Really seriously impressed.

Superb night in the Hawthorne Farm, staff very friendly, particularly Ethan on the carvery, top bloke, and Katie at the bar. Will be back, very happy.

We come regularly and the staff are very helpful and friendly, the barmaid Lucy was very informative about the meals and did a good job as she was working the bar all by her self.

We came here for a carvery and some drinks and I can honestly say the carvery was excellent, huge choice and huge tasty portions. The only problem was queuing for drinks at the bar, I asked the bartender what the queuing was for and was told you had to queue for drinks which is not signposted and very confusing because everyone is bumping into one another. Come on Hawthorn you should never have to queue at a bar for drinks.

Really friendly atmosphere, great food and choice available. I highly recommend booking in for a special occasion or even just nipping in for a quick bite. We were served by Sophie and were very happy with the service she is very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.. thank you again Hawthorn farm 👍

Poor experience. Booked for 5pm, planned to have carvery but the queue was ridiculous and would have taken at least 30 minutes to get food - they shouldn't let the queue get that long, it spoils a family meal out when you have to eat in stages and spend so long queuing. Ordered off the menu instead, went to order and was told they have no fish at all so two of us had to get alternatives which neither of us really wanted. The food we did order took far too long to arrive, probably about 40 minutes. Kids play area for under 5s had lots of older kids in it, our 2 year old couldn't play on stuff because of the older kids hogging it.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere great to meet up with friends . Prompt service via the app…Nice food , arrived promptly. Waitress Dee was very friendly , helpful , nothing was too much trouble .

Our waitor sam was amazing, so lovely, so kind and sweet, made sure me and my partner had everything we needed. The clavery was so delicious and the puddings were huge would deffo recommend to share 😋

Wonderful service today at Hawthorne Farm. We visited for a last minute carvery and really enjoyed the food and service from the team. Ethan serving on the carvery was really professional and helpful, offered advice and went to get fresh vegetables when he noticed they were low which we really appreciated 👍 thank you to the team for a lovely evening

Very slow to be able to order, the que for the carvery took about 20 min and the burger that was ordered never came in the time it took for the 3 other people to que, get and eat their carvery so we cancelled it. I would not recommend this place.

Layna was very friendly and helpful. It was our first visit and she explained everything regarding the breakfast buffet. She has such a lovely manner and was the same with everyone who she came in contact with .

This was a terrible experience. Roast beef that couldn’t be cut. Roast potato like bullets. Turkey is chunks not slices and gammon that looked under done

had the festive carvery at lunchtime 3 course meal everything you could want for a festive meal even down the Christmas crackers, had the signature cake for last course and i was blown away with how nice and large the portion was . would recomend to anbody. and hatts of to all the staff and pat on the back to the instore cake makers 😀

We have been to this restaurant many many times driving all the way from Hull was there on Saturday the 4th November to meet friends and told them what a good place it was. But what a disappointing meal. The Beef was tough the Yorkshire pudding were that hard you couldn’t cut into them .Every other time verges we’re cooked just right this time they were over cooked We didn’t enjoy at all and to rave about it with friends then get a meal like this I hate to think what they thought We got there just as the Carvery was serving

Called in for a cuppa whilst waiting for friends to land at airport ( was delayed due to weather).. Ended up having something to eat.. The food was lovely, staff are friendly will definitely call in here again for food. Thank you

Overpriced, terrible food. Ordered curry. Ok if you like a plate full of rice. Curry not much of it & came clap cold. Poppodom with supposed mango chutney but was brown sauce. Complained & guy just said Ok. Wont be visiting again.

Just had probably the worst meal i have ever eaten ,where do I begin. Waited over an hour in the queue for the carvery .God knows why there isn't two people carving and serving the meats. This would help speed things up . The roasted potato were that hard from been re heated I couldn't even cut them or eat them.Rest of the food was under cooked hard veggies and tasteless. The meat was nice abit fatty but ok. Will definitely not go back there feel robbed of £50 for a horrible experience. And the flies everywhere. Such a shame but I will not go back or recommend anyone to go for a cavery.

Hawthorne farm is always very good for food the carvery is excellent with plenty of choice. Lovely atmosphere created by fantastic staff especially D Tate who always goes out of her way to make the meal out enjoyable. Keep up the good work. See you next visit.

Myself husband and brother went lunch time it was a Monday but should still be good food, well we all got the ham and the beef which looked really nice but when we sat down to eat we couldn’t cut the beef never mind chew it my brother got another meal and when I complained she said I could have my money back and was told the chef was aware and that lots had complained. So beware even when it looks good it’s just cheap meat.

It was my first visit to Hawthorne farm with my disabled son and his PA who had visited previously and highly recommended the Sunday lunch. They opted for medium plates and I decided on a smaller portion as I have a small appetite. Whilst queueing for food I realised that the small plate was indeed small not much bigger than a side plate and judging by the size of the Yorkshire puddings I wouldn’t have been able to experience the food properly as it wouldn’t fit on the plate. Our PA went back to the bar with my ticket to request paying extra to upgrade to a medium plate. The bar manager refused to change my order from small to medium and advised our PA that I would have to pay again for a medium plate and proceeded to charge me a further £11.49. Why would a “manager” think this was acceptable to charge me £20 for an £11.49 meal? Disgraceful management and a clear lack of customer service skills. When our lovely waitress Denise “ see separate review” asked if everything was okay, I explained to her that I was very upset and told her what had happened. She went to speak to the manager who then hovered over the till with several members of staff. Denise returned to our table and gave me the cash back for the small plate charge saving me a definite showdown with the manager. She apologised and hoped it hadn’t spoilt my first experience which it definitely had. No apology from the manager! Hiding behind his staff is not acceptable and I would highly recommend he attend a customer service course.
