I found the pub lovely however I found the staff quite rude and uninterested.one was On the phone one was talking when I asked was she serving she said yes then walked away. They went to serve a local who came after me and were quite shocked when I said sorry I was here first. She wasn't happy. Locals come first she said she didn't have any children I could tell she never stopped moaning about them. Shame as its a little gem but the staff need to straighten up their miserable faces. One young girl was fine that was it.

This is a lovely place with a great atmosphere. We were staying at the local caravan site (Robin Hood) and it was a 5 minute walk down a lovely lane to get there. We went first on a Saturday night and there was a DJ doing 80s 90s. The food system was a bit unconventional but as long as you listen to the bar staff it works. We had freshly baked proper pizza oven pepperoni pizza which was delicious. The staff were lovely even though it was very busy. Then we went on Sunday night. There was a limited menu but we had Greek pizza and a smash burger to share. Gorgeous. The beef was lovely quality and cooked perfectly. I spoke with Catherine about some of the negative comments on here. I think people need to chill out and enjoy something slightly different. There were locals at the bar (to be expected) but didn’t see any getting served before others and the locals we sat near were really friendly. Catherine is very sweet and the family is doing a great job providing something out of the ordinary. We will definitely go back - thank you.

The meal was delicious. However I was told I couldn’t order any side orders, and no deserts. So a little boring really. The service at the bar was bad. The staff favoured locals first. I was next in the queue but a local told the bar staff to serve an other local before me and she did. So I won’t be visiting there again on my next visit to Slingsby. I will find another pub that serves everything and anyone next in line.

A great little country pub tucked away in this quiet village. Great atmosphere on a summers evening, can only imagine how great it would be in winter with the open fire roaring away. Food menu is limited (this is not a critcism), it ensures everything is cooked fresh to order. The food we had was very high quality. Service is friendly and polite. Everything you could look for in a village pub. We'll be back.

We have been camping just round the corner from The Grapes Inn since 2016 and have been regular visitors of The Grapes Inn ever since. We love this pub. The beer garden is massive and on our recent visit only last weekend although it was cold we sat outside where a logburner was lit by staff and we spent a few hours just chatting around the fire with a few games of darts. The pub it self is quite small but is always warm and welcoming, we just tend to always sit outside. We have had a few meals over the years and they have always been lovely. Since we have been ordering there amazing pizza's the bar staff do make you aware that other food can come out at different times to the pizza's as the pizzas are made in a traditional pizza oven. We have always been made of this and this has never been a issue for us (but have read other reviews were ppl are moaning about it!!). My husband love's the pizza's that much has been known to go for a motorbike ride and stop by for a cheeky one!!

The Wife and I often come here, for drinks and pizzas, and it’s always excellent. This time, the older woman behind the bar was SO RUDE and HOSTILE, it’s really ruined the pub for us. Bit disappointed on this visit. Called in for a pint and thought we could share a pizza whilst there. Pub fairly busy but not heaving. Told we couldn't order pizza unless we had booked a table in advance and that they had run out of pizza by 650pm on a Saturday. Bit disappointing for a pub which only starts serving food at 5pm and has signs in the street heavily advertising pizza. Good range of beer and nice atmosphere

We was stopping at the caravan and motohome site and decided to have a meal at the local pub My partner ordered a pizza And I ordered the lasagna My partners pizza came with in 5 mins Nice pizza no issues But after 15mins we kept thinking where was mine After 20 mins the barmaid came to give deserts to another table so we asked where was my food that my partner had nearly eaten his She came back and said it won’t be long 😩 Another 10 mins so half hour later it arrived The excuse was it’s two different kitchens Mmm not good enough excuse You put the pizza in when you find out the lasagne is nearly ready Easy or what and then I was gob smacked because it was luck warm was the lasagne My partner said complain But if it took this long to to come god how long I’d have to wait for another Plus I was starving I can say it was good just not hot like it should off been And to be honest my partner could off eaten his pizza in 5 mins but took his time for me When we was paying another bar women did ask how was it But it was bizzy at the bar and we didn’t want a fuss in public But I hope they do learn from this Because we had been put off and if this had not happened we would off come back the next night The pub itself is very cosy Love the open fires 🔥 Just need to sort them two kitchens out to work has a team We noticed that the table next to us that there daughters pizza came way way earlier then the parents So it’s not a one off I don’t think U go out for a meal together not to eat separately

We visited the grey paint for a second time in September after previously been to the pub for food and drinks back in early June. If you're looking for a traditional pub with great food than the grey paint you will not fault. It is a cosy, traditional pub steeped in character and always has an atmosphere as it is a popular watering hole for the local community. With a wide selection of food including an outdoor pizza oven where they cook fresh pizzas and request the food is outstanding. Combine great food, friendly staff and a wide selection of Slings Gin this is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. However if you are eating table Asians are on a first come first serve basis so be prepared that you might have a short wait although if there are tables unavailable inside you can always eat outside.

We were already about to leave when a friendly couple from the table next to us offered to share their pizza - and it was delicious! So in the end we had a great evening with wonderful live music, good beer, delicious pizza and very nice conversations with friendly people in a good atmosphere. This is a lovely place but let down by how chaotic it was . I got two scones and two coffees took the scones to our table and was told the drinks would be brought across, The scones were hard ( certainly not fresh ) I had trouble biting mine I had to cut it up to eat it , it was dry , I also noticed someone took a scone back I heard the girl say it must of got mixed up with the fresh ones , ours must have been last weeks ,It was 15 minutes before we got our drinks I noticed several tables hadn't got theres either , people were going to the counter to complain by this time . Just needs a bit more organising, who wants to eat a scone without a drink !!!..on the other hand we will go again to try the Gardeners lunch which looked delicious
