The Sword Dancer in Sheffield

Came here for lunch today and both had the hunters chicken and chips, first mistake at a place like this. After a few bites we decided it tasted funny and undercooked. We’ve been home for hours now and both of us have been feeling off and stomachs are in agony. My girlfriend has been throwing up and in pain for hours now. Terrible, stay well clear if you value your health and wellbeing. AWFUL!

Been many times even had our wedding reception there the food and staff was amazing but over the years it's getting worse we called in for the farther in-laws birthday and it was pint and a curry night it was very poor with very small portions it's not what you want for a evening meal going to stop going there.

Great gastro pub with welcoming, friendly and hospitable staff. Fabulous daytime atmosphere. Good food at an affordable price

Food was very nice and we got served very quick. Only negative was how loud the music was, we couldnt really hear each other talk

Oliver is fantastic, when I first came in was so charming and made me feel welcome! Charismatic with customers making them feel welcome and had a great experience with him. Don’t normally do reviews but he deffo made me remember him.

Came out on a special occasion never again worst meals ever drinks all flat glasses smelt awful Sunday dinner veg cols meat couldn't even eat my grandchildren didn't eat anything had to go to macdonald spent alot of money never again

Brilliant nice food freindly staff clean place

Come here quite often for some food, nice pub, nice staff and good value food although the chefs can never cook a steak right, I ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done, I still ate it as I didn't have time to send it back for a new one plus nobody came to check on us anyway until the plates were empty. Left disappointed.

Fast service. Good food for the price :) could with a bit of a refurb!

Sword Dancer is a pub and restaurant squarely aimed at families. Some of the tables have screens with BBC Cbeebies running on screen. Prices are cheap. The food is alas poor - low quality however does match the prices.

Lovely service especially from Oliver who looked after us with great care and attention. Food was really good, nice atmosphere and a warm welcome. 10/10 thank you !!

Birthday meal had a mega grill.Sausage been stood and warm up chicken very dry and steak very tuff as old boots my son had steak ask for medium rare got it medium nearly well done wife had lasagna that was ok .

Worst £60 ever spent! Food really poor quality, steak and chicken tough as boots, coleslaw missing to then be told they had none which no one told us this when ordering, couldn't pick onion rings up with a fork or cut it as it was rock hard, our drinks were delivered to wrong table, ordered brandy and coke got brandy with lemonade, then half of our food went to wrong table, poor service from staff, no one came to check if everything was okay was just ignored, was barley anyone in the pub so wasn't because they were busy either!. Outside door flooded with sewage! Table next to us had hair in their food! Absolute piss poor, should be ashamed! Won't be coming back, to many issues every time we have been.

Genial para una pinta rápida y un poco de comida me encanta el personal siempre agradable y acogedor, Nathan y jade me sirvieron en el bar y mi vale no funcionaba, pero se ofreció a darme uno desde su teléfono personal que era amable siempre tener una buena charla y también saludar a mi hija. Recomiendo esto muy bien con los niños también!

This was my first meal out during Covid 19. Much thought has been put into keeping customers safe. The food, as always, was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. I feel confident now in eating here again. Thanks to all involved. You're doing a great job.

First time here. The 4 of us came for Sunday Lunch. We ordered 3 different dishes. The first order was 'Mix it up' chicken skewers. The chicken was very overcooked like it had been sitting in a warmer for 4 hours. The other meal was the Sunday, which was very dry, we had to ask for extra gravy. The mash was discoloured, like it had been cooked multiple times. The next dish was the mixed grill and the gammon steak was raw! We were offered a free drink or desert, but this did not make up for the poor food. We will not be returning.

If you go here hungry, you're going to leave hungry... The portions are tiny and the Mac and cheese is just microwaved from from frozen, it was so bland and watery 😞

Tuvimos una noche brillante, Oliver sugirió rubor piloto Grigio incluso nos dio una muestra estaban en nuestra 3a botella. Superservicio. Oliver era muy amable y fue por encima con su servicio.

Visiting Sheffield to buy a car... called into this pub food service was very quick and hot, staff very friendly. Would visit again .

Been twice in as many months, the food was very nice and good portion sizes. I have to say though that the dining area wasnt the cleanest I've eaten in, the carpet certainly wants a good clean, and tables changing as ours was sticky even after it had been cleaned by us, twice. .....we will return, and hopefully these things will have been attended too

Came in for some food and drinks whilst out shopping with husband and son. very lovely service from Alicia and the team that was on had a fantastic time. Will definitely have to come in again !

Been loads of times last few years with my lovely wife of forty years Not a good experience today with kids running around while parents were drinking Noisy and food not as usual good quality Staff and service excellent though but we will not go again

I would recommend, a few years ago it was hit and miss but quality is/has improved loads, staff are bang on as well, any problems we may have had gets sorted without hesitation, we enjoy going there probably spend more on toys for babbi when we go lol

Eaten here a good few times over the years, but I've gotta say it's better now than ever. Food was ace, but the staff were better! Created a great atmosphere and it was lovely to see the staff genuinely enjoying themselves at work. Music and singing from the kitchen, all the staff having a right laugh, definitely be back again soon.

Never had a bad meal and the prices are very good, cheaper to eat here than Macdonald's next door

Ordered beef lasagna, hardly any bits of beef in it, poor quality of lasagna.very much disappointed. Service is fast and good.

Food was cold didn't taste or look appetising it used to be amazing do I took my mum for breakfast and was very disappointed will not eat there again unless things change the guy who brought the food to the table was very rude and didn't communicate very well with us I was gutted as I told my mum how good the food was!!!!

Food was fine Menus were filthy, sticky & when we opened 1 up a load of rice fell out 🤢 A member of staff asked how everything was as she passed our table but carried on walking before we had time to say anything The food was fine but PLEASE get someone to give the menus a wipe down

I called in on Friday. Immediately I was met with the noise of screaming children running around and shouting VERY loudly. What is worse, the parents were shouting just as loud. It could be heard all around the bar, not acceptable to make noise on that level and not fair on other guests. Licensed bars are primarily adult environments, there are plenty of playcentres and creches to let your children run riot. It's also very dangerous to have children running around like that where hot food is being served. The family making all of the noise seemed to be a member of staff's family, judging by his interactions with them, the male staff with dark hair and glasses. If you are going to bring your family to work, ensure that they are respectful of your customers. No one wants to enjoy a drink or meal listening to all of that screaming (from the parents too!). Should know better. I had to sit outside as it was unbearable. On the warmest day of the year, there were no parasols up! It was flapping about in my drink so I had to put it up myself. Poor. There is a sign in the toilets saying they like to keep them "lovely and clean" but the urinal with blood soaked fluid floating around in it suggests otherwise. What a shame as most Greene King bars are great and this place is only around 9 years old, so should be one of the best but it's one of the worst. If I could give zero points, I would, it was that unbearable.

Average quality food, great staff and great for families. Fair value for the money.

Food cold. Second time visited in last 3 weeks, still no toilet seat in disabled toilet room so had to take mum home.

Ordered food, said bring hot drink over....forgot had to go and ask, food had things missing off it had to find someone to ask. Ordered dessert again things missing said go and check only went in kitchen and started taking food out to other tabled and forgot about us again. Tvs to keep kids entertained weren't working and usually staff co e check how things are but obviously this time when wanted them to, no one did at all while being in there. Staff seemed new, didn't know what doing and very forgetful.

Absolutely vile, the food came out stone cold, had then took away and redone, for then to be cold again, chicken was slimy, sausages wasn’t cooked, potatoes on Sunday dinner was hard and cold, and mash, this has happened on more than one occasion won’t be coming back.

Food was OK. Quite rough at bar. Think the seats etc need refurbishment

Popped in yesterday with my new fiancé as he always loves it here, but this was my first time. I have got to say.. I loved it!!!! The atmosphere was unmatched, the staff were fantastic and friendly and I have to say I will be coming back. We don’t get this type of establishment in Ohio!

Warm sandwich cold and missing cheese and mayo sent back came back still cold with a bit of cheese only good thing to say is the staff were lovely but will not return

Recommend the mac n cheese but not the sunday lunch, veg well undercooked, crunchy carrots fine but not crunchy sprouts & cauli 😳 mashed potato with a skin & beef that would serve better at the cobblers.

Ordered four meals, the burgers were great but the Sunday lunch disappointed. Most of the items advertised on the Sunday lunch menu That was supposed to come out with the meal didn’t. And then half way through it found a hair in it.

The food was great, my only complaint was that the salt and pepper chips had powder in the middle and nowhere else, but I would come again!

Great food, great personalities. You can see the manager here allows the team to be themselves instead of the regular robotic service style we have all come to expect. The food was great for all my family I will definitely be coming again. Thank you sword dancer team.

Come here quite a lot, mostly with family but last couple of visits has been solo due to housing restrictions. Service is fab.

Visited with family, service was very good from start to finish. The staff are very lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definitely recommend for small family get togethers.

Reasonably priced drinks, good food and great atmosphere

Absolutely loved our festive meal here with the family, everything came out on time, once we let one of the staff know we was ready. The service was brilliant from the get go. Would highly recommend anyone to go for a family meal there.

Grat friendly service. I gave the food a 3, our meal was booked for 4pm and I had the mixed grill, although the sausages I got were definitely from breakfast as reheated in the microwave and you could play baseball with them.

Great breakfast and the staff and manager are exceptional. The food was great and well cooked and nothing was to much trouble. Other places should take a leaf out of their book when it comes to food and service. Thanks for a great visit.
