We heard that the Angel Inn had re-opened under new management, and that the pub had been given a make-over and were now doing really good food - so we thought we would go and check it out! We went along mid-afternoon on Thursday 25th January, 2024, the place is very clean, warm and welcoming, a nice, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Louise the manager, who we took-to immediately, is so enthusiastic and passionate about running a good pub. They have a wide range of drinks and the menu although limited at present, is set to be extended, and they do Sunday lunch. The chef, an ex-army chef but with lots of civilian experience in restaurants too, is also passionate about providing great, home-made food. We very much liked the look of things, so we booked for Sunday lunch - we went along on Sunday 28th January - the food did not disappoint! We had a choice of beef, pork or chicken, or we could have some of each. The plate came out with the meat, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, along with it came a large dish of vegetable and a gravy boat. As promised, everything was home-made, cooked from scratch and as we expected, totally delicious! Then came dessert, we all had treacle sponge with custard, but there was a choice of jam sponge, apple crumble or cheese-cake, - home made, and it too was delicious!, and all at a reasonable price - well worth it! We will be back - but we are also going to go along mid-week and check out their menu offers - they are going to be getting wine and drinks offers too - what more could you want! 👍😁.

This place was once buzzing & vibrant. Sadly it is now very run down, with dirty decor, broken furniture & a basic bar. The outside is also very dirty. The whole place needs a deep clean, inside & out.

Really enjoyed out Sunday lunch with our grandchildren....choice of Beef or Gammon and veg yorkshire puddings and roasts ..for the price it was really good our grandchildren ate the lot....and then homemade bread and butter pudding for rafters which was delicious.. We came here last year and the dinners had run out for 1pm ..I heard they were nice but you had to queue up outside at 12 to get a meal .....The landlord was the rudest man we have come across and did not deserve customers and he wasn't pleased we had our grandchildren with us and told us we could only stop with them if we had a meal !! But they had none left !!! The pub is friendlier, warmer and the new tenants are really trying there best you can see that ..we got talking to another couple and they told us the last landlord had upset so many people that nobody went in and it shut down..I'm not surprised with Mr Grumpy !!!! ..Good luck to you and we will see you for the Christmas lunch we booked in for

Eat here regularly good home cooking with varied menu. Has OAP discounts during the day, excellent service. Children are welcome. Loyal customer base mainly over 30's who return on a regular basis. Very concerned to hear the landlord is leaving in September. As well as the quality of food he keeps an excellent pint of Tetleys and the venue is noted for its live bands on a Saturday. Hope the character of the pub isn't spoilt with the planned major refurbishment.

Went for a Sunday dinner, food was ok nothing special, deep fried roast potatoes not always a good sign. Not being snobby but the atmosphere was not great mainly due to noisy uncontrolled kids running around.

i joined my elderly mother and her friends for lunch - food was excellent, home cooked, generous portions. the food comes out one meal at a time so be prepared to wait almost an hour if you don't get your order in in the first 5 min of opening !! Landlord is extremely grumpy - not very helpful at all - time he retired !!

Made a couple of visits to the Angel, with different people who had different tastes in food, and both times we were treated to great eating experiences. There is a large car park and there is a bar area and a conservatory, probably better to try and get a conservatory table to eat. The menu is wide enough, and they make it clear that the food will take some time to prepare, because it is all cooked freshly to order. When it arrives, you can tell the difference between this and other pubs serving food from the freezer via the microwave. The price will be a very pleasant surprise to you as well.

We booked Cross Scythes mainly due to the location as we were going to a wedding quite close by. So glad we chose here, it was a fantastic place to stay. Such a lovely and welcoming place, the whole experience was second to none. Brilliant staff, a well appointed bar and restaurant, great food and a terrific atmosphere around the whole place. Comfortable room which whilst being a little on the tight side had everything we needed and the bonus being a very comfy bed. The restaurant had a great menu, the food was exceptional and the service was up there with the best. Thanks all at Cross Scythes, we hope to visit you again soon.

Came in tonight with a friend and my 19 year old who has autism and learning disabilities for post match drinks after the Sheffield Eagles game. The staff were more then welcoming. My son 19 but due to a medical condition looks about 12 so a bouncer came while we were sat and asked him for ID which mt son had. I explained to the bouncer he had autism. He checked my sons ID and was happy but did it in such a kind way so as to not make my son feel he'd done something wrong. My son also plays learning disabilities rugby for Sheffield Eagles and some of the players are thinking of a night out and I've already recommended this place as somewhere with good drinks, pool and friendly accepting staff.

We stayed here last night in our motor home. We parked in the car park overnight. We had lovely food and drinks inside. The atmosphere was brilliant, pub quiz, card bingo, play your cards right. The staff are so friendly and very welcoming and the locals. Nice little outdoor park with bouncy castle for the kids. Dog friendly. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be visiting again
