I recently hosted a wreath workshop at Ye Olde Mustard Pot Pub, and I can’t recommend it enough! This charming and cosy pub has such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The owners are incredibly welcoming and made the entire experience delightful. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed meal or hosting a private event—everything feels so well taken care of. Also, don’t miss out on their hot chocolates; they’re absolutely lovely and worth a try. Whether you’re looking for a great meal, a special event venue, or just a comforting drink by the fire, Ye Olde Mustard Pot is a gem you’ll want to visit again and again!

5* food and service. 2024 Update The Korean wings were a disappointment—boiled wings with sauce poured over them, tough to eat and lacking any standout flavor. The burger was far from the quality I experienced on my last visit. The bacon was undercooked, the patty overcooked, and the coleslaw left much to be desired. Giving 3 stars feels generous, but I hope this review prompts some improvements.

We are staying in this area for a week. Lots of family in surrounding areas. We met here for Sunday lunch and it was all delicious. Friendly staff, home cooked food, lovely portions, fantastic desserts. Another family meet up mid week we decided to go here again for lunch. The food was incredible again! We are a foodie family and we couldn’t fault any of the dishes. The pub also is lovely. Nice to see the fire going, dogs and well behaved children welcome. Really reasonable prices. I would recommend this pub without hesitation.

Well off the tourist trail, you’re more likely to have a local point you to it rather than stumble on it yourself. I can’t speak to the hotel (never stayed), but the restaurant is one of my favourite places to stop for a meal and a pint when in the UK. If you’re in the NW Peak District, well worth calling in!

Lovely old Fashioned pub... the type with low doorways and real fires. The bar and seating area are nicely decorated in keeping either the17th century building, but comfortable and clean. It's £4.50 for a Guinness zero, which I thought might be slightly high? A Sunday roast dinner starts from £15 (can't remember the pence). The roast dinner was very nice, although I wished there had been a little boat of extra gravy, and apple sauce for the pork too. I think they use good oil as the roast were very tasty, although slightly soft for my personal taste. I'm not sure whether it would be great for people with mobility issues, there were steps to the door but there maybe an alternative entrance. Good size car park. Close to some fabulous countryside, and reservoirs so good to walk off lunch. The only let down for me was that the woodwork paint in the toilets was very matt and was not kept clean... it was particularly filthy, and I suspected that the mop had not been rinsed clean for a while either. I saw something behind the cubicle door that may have been mouse droppings but didn't care to inspect more closely. Such a shame because everything else was lovely.

I stayed here for two nights (Aug 24) and found the place to be really nice, location, accommodation, food and all the staff. If you're unfamiliar with the area then this is a great base to set off from and then to recharge your batteries in the evenings. I parked my car in the 'massive' carpark on the Friday afternoon and didn't need it until leaving on the Sunday, so many small walks to do for first thing and in the evenings and footpaths linking up if you opt for a day out walking. My room did need some improvements but was clean, tidy and nicely quiet. The beverage tray and bathroom smellies, you'll very rarely see these as good in most hotels these days - cookies and hot choc, chocs on the bed, shampoo and body wash, very nice touch indeed. Breakfast is in with the room cost and you'll be very pleased to sit down to it I'm sure, I opted for eggs on toast on both mornings but will be having the full English when I next visit towards the winter months, and I'm very much looking forward to that stay. Thanks to you all at Ye Olde Mustard Pot.

I’ve contacted the pub to make a booking for my wedding anniversary for me and the wife I got messaged confirming my booking but in the same conversation I challenged the online web price. After a telephone conversation with the owner she said she wasn’t willing to match that price and was going to speak to the company and get back to me. From then on the communication stopped until my friend phoned to book a room for himself in this conversation he asked about my booking they said I wasn’t booked in !!! Within 30 minutes of his conversation I was contacted by text saying they’d been very busy and in this time over 2-3 days someone else had took my booking. A very poor customer service very un professional I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone from my experience.

I will be honest it got a 3 stars mainly because of food and drinks, which were good and well priced. The room we had was very run down and couldve been done with a good clean. There were cracked tiles in bathroom and the towel rail was hanging off. In the room the curtain rail was half off at one end, and at least one electric socket didnt work. It wouldnt take much to improve things and hopefully they will. Not long as new owners so maybe a lot to do to get on top of things.

I was due to stay here on Friday 19th of July with my daughter, unfortunately we were unable to due to her getting Covid. So i gifted my other daughter and her boyfriend a night away. I am, as are they, absolutely disgusted in the service that they received during their stay at Ye Olde Mustard Pot. It was evident that the room had not been cleaned, their was dust on the widow sill, urine on the toilet seat, empty toiletry tubes in the bottom of the shower and dirt on the radiator and floor. The maintenance of the room wasn't much better with a broken light and paint peeling from the ceiling. They did speak to a member of staff that was quite abrupt and they did get their room change but, it is about first impressions and the massive inconvenience. Which is not good enough for a hotel, let alone one that charges £85 per night. It is just not acceptable. That is not the worse part, when they went down to breakfast they were approach by a female member of staff. Who said the following: "you ready for breakfast? Sounded like you need some energy and the bed is very squeaky isn't it? I didn't know what was going on when I first heard it. This place may as well be a brothel." Absolutely disgusting, even a male member of staff was shocked that she had spoken to them like it and her response to him was "it is ok, they are young" No-one goes away to a hotel to be treated be treated in this manner, very little regard for the inconvenience and embarrassment. Just a final word. I have stayed in 1000's of hotels all around the world and I have never had an experience like this (from cleanliness and staff behaviors and I think they seriously need to do something about it. After reaching out to this company, there was no acknowledgement of unprofessional behaviour and not even an apology! Stay away!

I spent 1 night hear for business. The owners take real pride in their service, and it shines through. The pub is located only 25 minutes from the centre of Sheffield and a taxi will cost circa £35. The location is quiet and situated in the rolling hills of the countryside. The food was good too and the landlord was kind enough WhatsApp the menus ahead of time. I had traditional pub meal for dinner which worked well, and the free Full English Breakfast was great fill most appetites. The rooms are basic but cosy and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the location is second to none if you are looking for a quiet spot. The landlord went out of their way to accommodate our needs and even provide a lift down the road. If you are looking for a pleasant short stay with access to the city centre of Sheffield or the rolling hill you really can’t go wrong with this spot.

To sum up - asked for a table for two and a high chair, asked if we'd booked? No, so seated at table with no number, given menus and told specials .....then nothing. After 10 min of being ignored, went to the bar and asked if it was order at the bar? Yes is that okay? Would have been lovely if we'd been told that 10min earlier. Order drinks and two Christmas specials, that were advertised all over the pub. Tab set up but had to wait at the bar for my drinks even though there were two staff behind the bar and the pub was quiet for a Saturday afternoon - food came out quickly and the young lady who brought the food and cutlery was lovely, that was the only positive. The food was poor - warm not hot, not even the roast potatoes were home made, lumps in the sea of instant gravy (see pictures this is the pubs signature "Christmas special"). I'd have complained but nobody came to see how we were getting on, asked if we wanted anything else or desserts. Finished our food as it had been a long day and we were starving. The food wasn't inedible just in par with a frozen supermarket Sunday dinner and way below what I would expect for the price and location. Went to the bar where 2 members of staff were serving one couple 4 drinks between them and a 3rd was drinking a coke behind the bar and ignoring me. Once the other couple had finally been seen to I asked to pay the bill with the same member of staff that had seated me. Table number? I said that I had no idea as the table didn't have a number....yes but which table did you sit at....you seated me I replied. As the pub was so quiet she quickly solved the puzzle and I paid the bill....only then was I asked if everything was okay? Not, when we were ignored for 10 min after being seated, while we were eating, when we'd finished, when we weren't offered desserts.....once we'd paid. Went home and had cake instead, we'll drive further and go somewhere with better service and food in future. Never going back! Avoid!

I stayed for 2 nights. As an American tourist I met some of the nicest people I had ever met in my life! The food was absolutely fantastic - who would have thought Green Chicken Curry in the English countryside would be so delicious!? The Haloumi Fries were mind blowing ly delicious, served with a kind of sweet chili sauce. I spent lots of time in the bar area including staying until midnight on a Saturday night drinking pint after pint and buying rounds with some locals. They were extraordinarily kind, and even offered me rides to my destinations the next few days! Every single one of the ladies behind the bar was professional and kind. I do not have any pets, and in fact I am mildly allergic to pet dander, so I knew sleeping in a place that allowed dogs could be problematic. I had antihistamine pills with me in case I got itchy eyes, hives, or any other issues. Surprisingly I never needed them in my two days there! My only negative, if you can really call it that, was that I noticed a crack in the toilet bowl in my room, which also would cause occasional water leaks (clean water) on the floor around the toilet. But I had no real impact on me, just figured it was something that could be fixed, especially considering it looked like the flooring in the bathroom had been replaced relatively recently. My only recommendation would be one or two slightly more modern amenities, like some sort of device charger with USB ports on it that would make it easier to plug in international devices and charge them up. Great food, great people, great drinks, great rooms... If you're expecting some kind of posh people acting like an English stereotype you're not going to get it. This isn't dinner and a show. I was an American looking for authentic experience in a rural English town and I 100% got it. Humanity at its finest.

On both occasions the 7 of us ordered a variety of meals from the good choice provided on the menu (of both mains and desserts). We all thought the meals were excellent. The food was delicious, well presented with generous sized portions. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was comfortable. Highly recommended. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Very disappointing visit to the Mustard Pot today. The three of us went today for a late Sunday lunch at around 4.00. The place was pretty quiet given the time and we had high expectations given our previous experiences. We have been previously and, despite on our last visit them running out of Cauliflower cheese and messing up our deserts, we left really pleased and satisfied. This time, however, all of the food was really cold and the, what looked like aunt Bessie’s, roasties were a little on the raw side. There as plenty of veg and the staff were friendly as always but the food was a real let down. When we mentioned the food was cold they offered to ‘warm it up’ but, to be honest, who goes out for a Sunday lunch warm up? I could have Sunday lunch warm up at home for free!!!…. The bill came to £68 for two meat and one veggie Sunday lunch, two still waters, a coke and 2 small white wines… this, we thought, was reasonable. However, we begrudged paying the price given that a) we had to rush the food because we were starving having waited so long and b) we had to rush it to save it getting even colder (I think they forgot it was out to be served given that it took so long and was flat cold). They did send out some warm gravy on request which was a bonus as the original they sent out was flat cold…the warm gravy made the food more palatable. All in all, really disappointing, really disappointed with the offer of a warm up for £68.00. Probably won’t go again which is a shame, the place is nice, staff are friendly and inviting….

Dropped in for lunch on the way across country. One of our party had known the pub from long ago so we were unsure if it was what we were looking for. No need to concerned it was marvellous. We were greeted warmly and shown to a large table next to an open fire. Everything was right, the decor, the service and the food. Would recommend without hesitation.

This pub used to be our local many years ago. Tried it for a tea out with family. Lovely girls serving. Still learning but doing a great job. Really lovely food and plenty of it. Great singer on Tom Masters. Well worth giving it a go. Hope the new landlord can keep this pub going. Will definitely be returning. Had a lovely evening.

Went for my daughters birthday after seeing the new adverts for the "Grand Reopening." Walks in, sat at the bar for 10 minutes while bar staff chat to the regulars. Sat down with our drinks ordered food, this eventually came as a dry burger and cremated bacon on top with a cheese slice, and extremely greasy onion rings. After finishing our mains we were hoping that the desserts would make up for the disappointment, however nobody came to clear the table, so another trip to the bar to get somebody's attention. We ordered two Eton Mess and one Sticky Toffee Pudding. Sticky toffee pudding was cold, and the Eton Mess was made with cream that had gone off, this was paired with the locals effing and blinding at the bar, despite there being families sat eating. Really disappointed as we are local. Will not be going again anytime soon.

Was pleased to see this local pub had reopened and after ringing to check they were serving food, we visited last Sunday evening. Unfortunately I cannot say anything positive about it. First problem was with drinks order, no tonic and no Bitter, that should have sounded warning bells. We picked up the menus from the bar and a member of staff told us that several items were unavailable as they had been very busy. she gave us a handwritten list of all dishes that were off. We ended up ordering Gammon and burger, I also ordered a sweet at this point to ensure they didn't run out. The meals when they arrived were very average, staff seemed disinterested. Another party arrived and sat at a nearby table making their choices from the menu. they moved tables because of noise from above and we asked if they had been told that numerous dishes were off, they hadn't so called a member of staff to enquire. They were then told that they had stopped serving as they had run out of food. They had been sitting there with the menus for about 15 minutes. When my sweet failed to appear, we had to remind a member of staff that this had been ordered. The chocolate brownie, when it eventually arrived, was very heavy and barely warm. Needless to say we shall not be visiting again. They probably had been busy, it was an unusually warm weekend but not unexpected. No use having grand reopening if you can't follow through.

Don't think of visiting this place as it is now closed down. Apparently there was a fire in the kitchen and the owners have closed the whole place whilst the brewery looks for new tenants
