The five stars say it but if only they had stout, (Guinness doesn’t count).

It was a very quiet evening, the whole of Northallerton seemed to be shut. But, the Lounge was open and looked very inviting. We had small plates off the tapas menu, and it was all lovely.

They weigh portions of chips?? Don’t expect to be blown away by a “large” portion

Lovely food, lovely staff, there were 5 of us going. 3 children and 2 adults. All loved our meal and couldn't fault. Would go again!

Fantastic large outdoor playground and green, loads of benches. We enjoyed a couple whilst the kids had a great time 👌🏻

Wow this Cafe is terrible the food we had was shocking We were staying nearby and went in for a breakfast sandwich When we bit into the sandwich the bacon and sausage can only be described as hard and seemed like it had been reheated from the day before Such a shame as this is an iconic cafe There are other places to eat in the area we certainly won’t be going back

Hemos estado comiendo en el restaurante Guardhouse durante muchos años y nunca hemos tenido una mala comida hasta ahora. Éramos una fiesta de 6 para el almuerzo del domingo , solo dos de nuestra fiesta tenían entrantes ya que habíamos encontrado en el pasado que las porciones son muy generosas. Aun así nos sentamos y esperamos una hora antes de que saliera cualquier comida principal y cuando lo hicieron estaban fríos, los pudines de yorkshire tenían un sabor peculiar para ellos y también la salsa. No fue lo mismo, ¿qué ha salido mal, ha habido un cambio de chef? Lo intentaremos de nuevo pero si no ha mejorado seguiremos adelante.

Excellent location for a quick break. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. The evening meal and breakfast was absolutely superb. Top marks

Primera vez comiendo aquí como habíamos oído que tenían nuevos propietarios / chef recientemente. La comida era muy muy buena y mucho mejor que el pub del pueblo promedio. Muy buenos clásicos de pub pero con todo hecho muy bien. El pescado con patatas fritas que tuve fue fantástico y todos disfrutaron de su comida. El servicio era bueno y los precios en general eran muy justos. Tuvimos el vino Vinho Verde con nuestra comida y fue excelente.

Lovely old pub but slow service - it took and hour and a half for an average Sunday lunch. Everything was hot but the Pork was advertised with cracking and apple sauce but these had to be requested. The roast potatoes could have been frozen. The staff never asked if everything was ok or offered sauces. Needs to improve.

We always visit the Market tavern when in Knaresborough, friendly staff and locals and a greats atmosphere, especially when bingo is on, which is Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Absolutely fantastic pub the staff are so friendly and welcoming the manager Sarah is very professional at her job hence why she has a great team of staff. The food is always spot on and the service excellent was in for football on Monday and what an absolutely fantastic atmosphere it was. Keep up the excellent work
