Went here today with my little Scottie dog. Unfortunately it’s not dog friendly which was a bit of a disappointment. The coffee was basic and the decor could do with being updated. Considering its featured in the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine they have definitely missed out on making this a little gem.

Arrived and sat outside as we had a dog with us, a girl came out to clear two other tables, didn’t acknowledge us. After waiting 10 minutes I went in to be told our order would be taken at the table. We then were joined by two other groups outside who had been inside and ordered and had there food delivered to them. We were told again someone would be out to take our order, we waited 5 more minutes before going to Ribbles where the service was excellent.

I have been to the village a few times and have not been open due to renovations. Loved the last of the summer wine since I was a kid. When arrived, the staff was welcoming. Order a bacon roll and a coffee. The food was good quality, and the roll was huge. Nice coffee, too. Staff is happy to talk about the show and explain how it worked. Well, it's worth a visit.

What a gem 💎. Visited Holmfirth the last Saturday of 2023. Although the weather wasn't great, to say the least, it was chucking it down. A visit to Sids café brightened our day up. Pushing you back into nostalgia of the last of the summer wine. Not to say the sausage( teacake ) I had was equally as nice and the hot chocolates we had went down a dream on a miserable day.We will definitely visit Sids again when we're in Holmfirth..

The original cafe used in the Last of the Summer Wine series all those years go. The decor has changed very little over the years, which is absolutely how it should be to retain the atmosphere portrayed on TV. Only the layout has changed, probably to make the space work better. Lots of memorabilia around, and the food and drink is what you might expect from the 1970’s era, i.e. basic. A scone is a scone - no vanilla flavouring, cheese option or warming up in a microwave to give the impression of freshness. Just butter and jam. The polite table service and card payment option is something that Compo and his mates didn’t experience. Other than that, it is the Sid’s Cafe we all know and love.

It was lunchtime and very busy but we watched loads of people going inside and ordering at the counter. It was 🍋an hour before they brought out our food, a toasted sandwich & a jacket potato. When we asked where our food was after waiting 45 mins we were met with a stern reply that they were very busy. I’m sure they were but customers going in after we sat down after finishing their food were leaving having finished was not on 😡

Not sure what to expect when we turned up here and I was worried that it would be overly commercialised and very touristy however it was a lovely down to earth cafe with friendly locals and great food . I had the five bean chilli jacket potato , recommended by a lovely gentleman drinking the biggest cup of tea I have ever seen . The food was well cooked and tasty . The pot of tea filled our cups up a couple times and they top up with hot water if you ask , a true Yorkshire tradition . You can buy Last of the Summer Wine memorabilia and we got 3 postcards to send to family and friends . A little gem of a cafe .

Disappointed today when visited Sid's Cafe. Overpriced toasties which were very small portions, not very well presented. One of the rudest servers in a cafe I have ever experienced. Lots of tables outside and not clearly marked so simply sat on table from neighbouring cafe by mistake, lady on counter decided to shout at the top of her voice rudely that they didn't have such a table trying to embarrass me. I'm not one to be shouted at.

This is a really friendly little cafe, with loads of atmosphere and friendly staff. Anyone complaining the layout isn't the same as in the sitcom has failed to notice the difference between fiction and reality. They physically can't have the counter where it is in the show, because the kitchen would be in the ginnel beside the building. Anyone complaining the bus trip isn't running has fallen into the trap of thinking that Holmfirth is like the Magic Kingdom, with a whole town being run as a tourist attraction for their benefit. Instead we got good tea and good, honest, Yorkshire buns. A nice chat and a look at the many reasonably priced souvenirs you can buy. I've been here a few times over the years and they've always been friendly with good service and good product.

Great blast from the past and a good photo opportunity. We sat round the back in the little outdoor drinks garden as the weather wasn't fantastic and they have large brollies to keep the rain away whilst enjoying your brew. Only negative thing I would say is the price of a carton of apple juice was expensive for what it was wouldn't have minded if it was fresh but was only a carton of princes and was over £1. Sids Cafe is located in the village of Holmfirth and was a major set in the long running Last of the Summer Wine comedy. I was surprised to find it small and cosy, not as big as you think when you see it on telly. The walls are adorned with souveniers, tea towels, tee shirts, hoodies, cups, postcards etc, all at reasonable prices. The menu is simple, teas, traybakes, baps, and the Yorkshire delicacy - A large bap(barm) with slices of roast beef, generously covered in onion gravy.....delicious. Like a sloppy roast beef sandwich. The staff were friendly but not intrusive, they happily answered any questions we had. It was lovely to see it in person after watching for years on tv. My husband is an avid LOTSW fan and he really enjoyed the experience. The village of Holmfirth is a lot bigger than i was expecting and has a great selection of shops to while away an afternoon.

Today 4 of us went to Sid's cafe with our mum and dad who had travelled from Spain to visit Holmfirth. I don't know if they had had a bad day but the staff were cold and unwelcoming and at times downright rude. We were the only visitors in the cafe. My dad asked if they usually got more visitors and got a 1 word answer "plenty". Later dad tried to make conversation again, all the staff ignored him. There was a bad atmosphere in the place. We didn't enjoy the experience at all and couldn't wait to leave, mum and dad were both thoroughly disappointed, as were we. As we walked around Holmfirth visiting some of the other attractions, we met a lovely lady called Tracy and shared our experience, she said she had had the same experience as us and told us where to go for a good meal and get a friendly welcome. It was good to talk to a friendly Yorkshire lady after our terrible experience in Sid's cafe.

Places like this can be very tacky, but this one isn't. Its very raison d'etre is that is reminding you of the Last of the Summer Wine series, now consigned to afternoon repeat TV channels. However, it is quite well done, and the pot of tea we were served was most enjoyable. Every table was fully occupied when we visited late on a Saturday afternoon, and the five staff (how do you manage to work in such a small kitchen area?), were polite and competent. We left most contented.

This is the famous Sid's Cafe from Last of the Summer Wine. Popped in here for a lovely mug of black coffee on a wet Sunday morning. The young staff serving here are very welcoming and are a credit to the place. You can buy some Summer Wine merchandise should you wish to do that. Will definitely come here again if I'm the area.

Even though we live nearby we’ve never been to Sid’s Café so just having missed our bus and being nearly lunchtime we decided to go and see the famous café.

We had a day to kill when moving from one place to another and so decided to take a trip into Holmfirth. We headed for Sid’s Cafe for lunch. The staff were welcoming and prepared our food fresh. It was interesting to sit in a (almost) TV set. A reasonable length of menu and as things were freshly prepared, items could be prepared to the customers likes and preferences.

We had a lovely evening here. Upon arrival the pub was clean and welcoming. Myself, my mother and my daughter came and the staff were so lovely and assertive. The food was really nice, we came in here as we were visiting the area and we would definitely come again.

Amazing Sunday breakfast. It looks closed when you drive in to the car park and if you try to get in through the restaurant door you will still think it’s closed. Be creative go to hotel reception, no obvious sign just look for the door. If you are persistent you will be delighted by the breakfast. We went for Fathers Day breakfast. Choice of raspberries, strawberries, melon, yogurt cereal etc. Followed by cooked breakfast made to order. Beautifully cooked ingredients which. I couldn’t resist toast and marmalade to finish. Choice of a pot of tea or coffee. My only criticism would be that the coffee could be a little stronger but that’s my preference. A lovely food experience sat at a white starched table cloth in a calm environment with lovely staff.

The food has changed from traditional food your gammon and chips, fish and chips etc to trying to compare with bao buns at the Riverhead, sorry no contest. The pub smells of wet dogs particularly around the fire and the sofas and been bitten there. Not in a rush to go back .

" Gastropub " it says on their website....NEVER ! We went for Sunday lunch after reading how popular this place was on our local FB page. Not the nicest of dining areas , certainly not like their photos. Tiled floor , mis-matched furniture, more like a transport cafe for lorry drivers. The whole place is very rundown and drab , peeling wallpaper, damp patches etc. No starters available . Meat was tender and plates piled high but frozen soggy sprouts, cabbage with loads of stalk and nothing seasoned at all . Very bland .Not a good experience. We like to support local businesses but sadly won't return here. The staff were lovely but it needs a lot of money and a total revamp in order to survive . I hope it does!

We were seated quickly in a pleasant room. After a shortish wait we ordered 2 sandwiches, a portion of chips and 2 coffees. After a long wait the coffee arrived but was only lukewarm, I asked for another one that was hotter but the waitress seemed confused, eventually we got replacements which were slightly warmer but I didn't want to risk complaining twice ... The food was delicious but the chips were plonked down with no offer of vinegar or sauces, not even salt. After rugby tackling a passing waitress we asked for vinegar which was deposited on the table but with no comment or question about whether there was anything else we wanted. At no point did anyone ever come back to the table to ask if everything was alright or did we want anything else, which considering it is table service and not cheap, I would expect. We are still here wondering how on earth we pay as we have been finished for at least 15 minutes and are still being studiously ignored. Maybe if we get up to leave they might notice us. To summarise food lovely if expensive service atrocious.
