Lovely food as usual they have few branches all over England and also few in London.

As a logistics consultant for a large online retailer, I have a high number of client and supplier contact and by far the best customer service I have experienced is with ALL the counter staff at Mother Hubbards Huddersfield. A five star service hence a five star teview!

We ordered jumbo fish and chips and all it came with no taste and there were 2 pieces of Fish one small and one medium. Jumbo means jumbo piece not like you're giving 2 3 small pieces instead of one large. Not coming again. Thanks

Haddock fish, chips and scallops. Curry sauce. Warm fish it had been in the heating area for quite some time as it wasn’t crispy nor steaming hot but it was some quality flaky fish chunks. The chips were fresh out the fryer coated in oil after letting them cook for around 7 mins they were able to eat and they were very chunky and fluffy. The scallops terrible really oily, no flavour no salt no pepper just a deep fried potato. Curry sauce average same as all other fish chips.

Ordered via Uber. The food, from the takeaway to me, arrived in 3 minutes. Fish was warm and tasty as always. unfortunately the chips were cold. Inedible. Didn't put salt and vinegar on, as requested, and received no cutlery, as requested. Couldn't warm the chips up as there is no microwave in my hotel room.

cannot say enough great things about this place! picked up a large order of fish and chips for my team at work, and let me tell you-this was more than just lunch. It was an experience. From the moment opened the bags, the incredible aroma of perfectly crispy batter and golden, fluffy chips filled the room, instantly lifting everyone's spirits.

The best fish and chips in Huddersfield! Mother Hubbard's is very welcoming and well run restaurant/take away, the portion sizes are generous and everything is served piping hot (on dine in obviously) we have collected for takeaway and the food was all still hot to eat at home 7 minutes drive back. The haddock extra large is great for 4 people to share for a reasonable price £16, 1/4th each is enough for a healthy portion, or even two people to share at £8 each is a good deal. The restaurant is nice to sit inside and eat, a lot of Huddersfield and news history which gives a nice calm atmosphere. When wanting fish and chips we come here and take our guests staying with us here as we know it's a good representation of English fish and chips

Tracy was a gem. I came in with my dad and son one evening. Tracy went well out of her way for us. Helped us in choosing what was best on the menu. Her service was the best. I will come back for her, and her service only. She is bloody gorgeous just like the fish and chips…..!!!!

Flippin' delicious. We were in on Saturday night at seven and it was busy but we got served quickly. I had the Super Jumbo because I am silly but thoroughly enjoyed all of it, because I eat all the pies. Staff are lovely, haddock is really good quality, chips are bang on. If you're in Huddersfield get yourself here for scran. If you're not in Huddersfield, also get here for scran. Even the tea is fab. I've added a picture of our dogs for the craic but we didn't bring them. I don't think you can. Fair play.

Just had fish and chips very poor costumer service handed over my food in an old used plastic bag been ordering from here for while now ask for serviettes feelt like she wasn't happy about old chips very soggy.

Further update. App is finally working and got to order the £6.95 fish and chips. And nice they were as usual. But it was never about the food but the poor service, which has nowbeen improved for now. ------------ Update Sept 2024 as no response from app. App not working now it's been updated. Cannot log in, change password or pay for anything! Being disabled its not easy to get to shop counter. Shop wouldn't honour the £6.95 Small fish & Chips available on App either, not even as a long time regular customer. Food was also not it's best either after finally ordering fish & chips from counter, got home to find fish very thin and dry. Not the food or service iI expected. Not sure if I'll visit again. ------------------------------ We visit here quite often because of the quality of their fish and chips. We have been to other places to try too, around Huddersfield and other nearby towns and none match this chippy. I now have just a fish butty and pinch some of hubby's chips as there's that many in a portion of regular fish & chips, that I struggle eating so many. There's free parking on the forecourt to the premises and also on main road adjacent. It also has a disabled access entrance and toilet. They have an app too where you can order in advance for collection or delivery and you can also sit in their restaurant at no extra cost.

Or now regular go to place for fish and chips with freshly prepared food sized portions. Always good. Thank you!

Oh my Gosh best fish and chips I’ve tasted Im from London and have toured up and done the country including trips to Iceland but the fish and chips here at Mother Hubbards are nothing short of amazing, especially as they are award winning. They are tasty moist flavoursome and always a treat when I come up to visit family in Huddersfield I refuse to go anywhere else. Variety with the fish and chips include pukka pies, sausages, chicken bites, scallops, and much more and let’s not forget that gorgeous curry sauce and mushy peas !!…Mmmmm lush … Varieties of drinks from hot drinks to cold drinks and being of Yorkshire blood before I moved down to London to grow up it just goes to show that you can’t beat food back home always nice coming back to Huddersfield for my treat! A special shout out to Tracey and Maria for looking after me as always I will be back again in a few months time! Highly recommended and did I mention it’s all halal !!

First of all the staff were magnificent 4, two working on counter and 2 in the back making good food. the front 2 ladies took the order with highest professionalism. Service was warm and efficient, with staff who were friendly and attentive. The fish was impeccably cooked – perfectly crispy on the outside with tender, flaky fish inside. It’s clear that the fish is of high quality. I recommend this place to anyone loves fish and chips. Thank you

We decided to buy the jumbo fish and chips to share to save a bit of money. Wow it was a massive box plenty for two of us, with a few chips for the parrot and dogs. Definitely enough to share.

I hope we are all wrong on this one. The big girl who works on the afternoon is the most horrible rude person we have all ever met. She never says a word or smiles. At work we have a laughing joke about her and call her morticia. To be honest we give her the benefit of the doubt and say she maybe deaf and dumb. Either way she is very rude. Forget a write up on the food as we don't go anymore because of ol miserable morticia

I go every week with my family and I have to say this place is lovely. The manager Hamza the staff Maria and Co everyone is so welcoming. The food is always hot perfect and on time. They cater to your needs and nothing is ever a problem. I would recommend them anytime.

Exceptionally clean store and friendliest lady serving who went beyond her customer service to make me feel welcome …the fish was amazing batter was so tasty and the chips were fat and lovely also they have a great variety of cold drinks and they have a restaurant seating area. Not sure why so much hate for the chips they were great it Made me want more but I work all over country and am a fish & chip connoisseur/addict and will 100% be returning Also the curry sauce was a nice flavour with a bite

Was looking forward to fish & chips. Fish was ok but chips were underdone. Coffee was yuk they were using a cheap brand, couldn’t drink the tea. The food came in paper, the knives & forks were wooden disposable, the drinks were in paper cups and we were dining in. No wonder the restaurant was empty!

Every time we come here from London, it’s such an amazing experience. The customer service skills are outstanding from the team, especially. Tracy . She is such a fantastic person who treats us very well every time and makes sure our needs are always met. She also has very efficient customer services skills and always greets us with a smile. The food is very fresh and I definitely recommend anyone coming here!

Very clean chip shop, friendly staff and good fish and chips.

Bad experience here today, rude lady at the counter no smile no good customer service, grown up portion of fish bites n chips were extremely small, portion chips were all hard n bitty, asked for curry sauce I got home opened the tub it wasn’t curry sauce it was gravy. Really disappointed and very upset I’ve been working all day for the community in the sun and this girl was huffing at me. Portion not worth the money.

Dont bother eating here as they use very bruised rotting potatoes most recently. I had to throw most of my supper away as the chips were mostly black and bruised and the fish was watery, greasy and batter was falling off. What a waste of £25 and I'm going to demand a refund or free supper next time. Its disgusting that the chef does not care when Frying that the chips are rotten!!! The food used to be great but they changed the potatoes they use for the chips or they cook them differently. Chips are very flourey, and because they are so thick some not cooked through. I am now hesitant to go there. The front door is always open so there is a draft the restaurant is noisey due to traffic noise and as there is no screen between people eating and those waiting for a takeaway. The worst thing is people park their cars right infront of the restaurant windows so they are watching you eat!!! There is no gap between the front door and the car space due to the main road. Please put screen on the windows of the restaurant, put screen between takeaway counter and restaurant seating area. Bring back the old potatoes, Noone wants a dry sticky flourey taste left in their mouth. Lost customer

I found this absolute gem of a restaurant driving past for work and now plan my routes around it's opening times😁. The fish actually tastes as thought it has just been caught and cooked up, the chips have ALWAYS been perfect, and what a lovely change to actually eat a fishcake with a fish fillet inside and not just scraps pieced together and the potato cooked to perfection every time. I have worked my way through the menu and none of it disappoints. I travel from East Leeds, a travel well worth it. The restaurant area always clean, tidy and inviting and the staff are extremely helpful and always polite and a lovely smile. You definitely need to pay a visit unless, like me, it's already a favourite 😁 My dad had very successful businesses in the fish and chip industry so I can recognise excellent food, you have my vote every day of the week, THANKYOU 😋

i go to this location all the time and it's amazing.food is always fresh and it usually doesn't take too long. the one time it did i was given a gift card as an apology. they play good music and the staff are overall very polite. nothing bad to say!
