Good friendly service and a good Sunday dinner

Have just held the wake after my mums funeral and have to say this place was perfect. Aisha and Jerry were amazing and put on a fabulous buffet which was very reasonably priced for what they provided. The pub was very clean, drink selection was good and staff really friendly and attentive. Thank you so much team I definitely made the right choice.

Very nice pub the food was also good. I do recommend coming here for something to eat a couple of pints 🍺

We had my mothers wake there on Tuesday. Jerry and his team provided an excellent buffet. As the pub wasn't open to the general public, this meant that they could concentrate on us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Jerry even had time to sit with us and explain how he prepares the meat and cooks it.

Great food but extremely expensive drinks hadn't tasted our drinks and it was would you like another drink ate the meal lovely, got the bill then realised why they where pushing you to have another drink , nice place but won't be returning sorry to say

Just been here for a get together with friends ( I think about 15 of us) It was nice everyone had a good time. The food was good until I had some of my other half's turkey.. There was a big chunk of bone in it. Quite sharp as well. Unfortunately for me this broke my back tooth as I tried to eat it. A little disappointed as when I told the waitress nothing was said or done. Then I tried to have a quiet word with the manager after the meal and he just said it must of been broken off when slicing the turkey crowns they get. He just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing else he could do. A little later he did pass me when I was at the bar getting myself a drink and and said to the barmaid I could have that one for free! Still a little disappointed about all this as now I have a sore tooth that is going to need to have a crown on it and cost me a bloody fortune

Cannot recommend any higher, on a recent visit Jerry and Aisha and team extended a very warm welcome, they went above and beyond with their hospitality when we visited on a Saturday evening,so much we returned the next day to experience their Sunday Lunch, it is high up there , the best I have tasted in many years, The meat melts in your mouth as does the mash,roast potatoes and other veggies, the Cauliflower Cheese is to die for, The Cherry Crumble was just right slightly crispy with an amazing crunch and the Custard like velvet in your mouth, all went down a treat. The service and attentiveness is delivered in such a way that you feel like family, respected, loved and cared for, nothing was too much or over the top, just right, always with a smile and a cheery personality, from all members of the team. No blaring music, played at a level you can still hear yourself thinking just plain old conversation with loved ones and friends. Treat yourself, you deserve it.

Good local pub, we didn't eat but the pub is clean with a good selection of ales, dog friendly (outside) and good service. There are plenty of seats in the outdoor beer garden which is lovely in good weather.

Delicious Sunday roast. We all really enjoyed it. Cauliflower cheese and stuffing was at no extra cost. Mashed potato also included which is very rare nowadays. Lovely friendly staff. What more can you ask for

Myself and family met up here yesterday after reading a few reviews it sounded ok. I can now qualify as great Sunday lunches. Between us we had turkey and beef meals. The meat was succulent and melt in your mouth. The whole dinner from all 6 of us thought is was very good. The staff were very friendly helpful and smiling. Made a lovely time for us. We will be meeting here again. Thank you.

First visit back since lock downs, Tripadvisor says only open for delivery and takeaway but it's open for eat in now, so needs updating. The food was excellent, all freshly cooked on the premises and the service was very good, a very pleasant place to eat, probably missed by many as you never really see it advertised and if you pass it just looks like any other pub but the food is really excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you like well cooked food.

Our little group have eaten out just about every other week around west workshire for about 3 years, always during the week. We have a pretty good knowledge of what to expect regarding ambience, service, price and food. Ok, it was a Wednesday at about 6:45pm but the whole place was cold, to the point I thought I'd have to put my coat on. It's a big place so it wasn't worth asking them to put the heating on. It started off quiet enough as the 3 of us were pretty much the only ones in, but soon a few locals came in and were talking quiet loudly, for a restaurant pub (not their fault, just the layout of the eating area so close to the bar). The food was very good. I think the tempura prawns were bought in and the accompanying greener sad enough to be contemplating suicide, but the pasta was fresh and excellent. I had the lobster ravioli. Really nice garlic bread. Shame about being served a really bad pint of Estrella at the start, obviously no line cleaning, but it was exchanged without any fuss. Barmaid/server was very attentive. The bill was OK at about £25/head (2 courses and 2 pints each, 3 of us) plus we left a decent tip. Given all the above, 3 stars is about right. I'll keep an eye on other recent reviews and if it improves then the pasta is reason enough to go back in the summer. For now, there are so many other good places to return no time soon.

Had a brilliant Xmas meal here last week. Food was piping hot, well presented and full of rich flavour. Service was conducted at just the right speed we didn't have to wait long for each course with out feeling rushed. 100% high recommend this venue and their food.

Eaten here a good few times and it's always been good. Had Sunday roast for the first time today and it was beautiful.

Pleasant staff and good service.

Unfortunately turned up 15 minutes before last orders and were turned away for food. One barmaid happy to give us the menu but then clearly kitchen didn’t want to. Looks a great venue, but why have last orders at 6, if in reality it’s beforehand.

The White Swan isn’t just a fabulous place for food and drinks, they also put on the most marvellous events and parties. I recently had my 50th Birthday Party there and Jerry, Aisha and the team made my party utterly unforgettable. They put on a delicious buffet with all my favourite food; sop supper, fries, pizza, nachos and loads more for a very reasonable price. The Swan is such a great pub for a party with different areas and a beautiful garden. The staff are all so wonderfully helpful, welcoming and polite. We could not have had a better venue for the party. They were all so accommodating. We also had problems sourcing a cake and Jerry took up the reins to make the most delicious lime and coconut cake (from scratch), he even made the lime curd. He is such a talented chef. The staff made my guests feel welcome and looked after. It was simply amazing. I need another birthday so I can do it all again at the White Swan. Big thank yous to all you guys. We all had the best night! Jerry and Aisha also sourced my favourite drinks for the event. If you are having a get together, party or event you will not find a better place.

Genuinely 5 stars, excellent service, easy to order and the food was superb. Will definitely make another trip here. I am a veggie and extra veg was put on the meal for me mashed potatoe was the best I've ever tasted and veggie gravy too. My partner has turkey which he loved, yorkshires were perfect. Long walk and stumbled on this lovely pub Food was amazing and catered for Our gluten free party member with all the Sunday lunch trimmings. One of the safest pubs we’ve been in so far this summer with regards covid and will return !

Friendly staff excellent food and beers

We visited this pub as a family of three having had a day out in Yorkshire and we were not left disappointed. We had a friendly welcome from the moment we entered and it was a very relaxed setting . The staff were evidently keeping the area clean throughout our time . As for the food , I can honestly say it was one of the best pub meals I have ever had & I’ve had a lot ! The Ultimate Burger was delicious and cooked to perfection . The mozzarella finger starter was better than the average mozzarella fingers . And the chocolate fudge cake for pudding was lovely . Likewise , my family were complimentary of their food ! We would have no hesitation in returning in the future . Thanks for an enjoyable meal

Had broken down on the motorway and was looking for a local place to get help as phone was dead, seen 2 staff members smoking outside the pub and approached to ask for directions. They immediately started to go back inside and close the doors and shouted from across the car park dont come any closer go away. I appreciate given the circumstances they dont want to be near unknown people but a little bit of civil conversation from across the car park on where to get help would have been nice

First time here. V gd service & welcome from bar . Immaculate 'Old fasioned' decor & stainglass window, wallpaper but very pleasing on the eye. Spacious seating arrangements. Sunday dinner v gd choice. Much enjoyed & clean plates & for once tasted well. Reasonable Price with wine. Will come again( once allowed out with the virus)! Thanks

We meet every month and the whole experience at the White Swan from being greeted by our friends (staff) is amazing and Gerry always greets us we look forward to seeing them as well as our friends because we feel like a part of the family here its so good to be able to feel this way it goes a very long way to make our fantastic meals so much more than enjoyable and the meals are prepared with love by the best Chef in this part of the country they are exceptional every time we visit its just the same standard the meats just melt in the mouth and the mash cannot be beaten then the rest of the meal is so mouth watering and then comes the deserts to top the meal Maurice.Saxby.

We walked in a family of four with no table book on a Sunday. We were seated right away I was told what was Gluten free of the menu, which included a chocolate fudge cake that was AMAZING, our meals were served quickly but not so that we felt rushed, I had a generous portion of turkey with gf Yorkshire pudding creamy mash and roasty along with a gf cauliflower cheese, and family portions of mash carrot and sweet potato, and green beans. If you get a chance stop in its well worth it

Prior to a Family visit for a Sunday Roast I made a solo scouting mission to the White Swan on a Friday afternoon. It was raining as I pulled into the car park. I was able to use the one and only blue badge space. As the car park only takes about eleven cars that is to be expected. Plenty of room on the road however. I had planned to have just a pizza but as it was Friday there was a Fish Specials board which included Whitebait. A must have for me. So I ordered it plus a hand stretched stone baked American Hot pizza with added Anchovies. I had been welcomed by the lovely lady behind the bar, and noticed that I was the only customer saved for two ladies in a non visible, from my seat, part of the bar. The Whitebait was a goodly portion, nicely cooked and tasty. The beautiful pizza duly arrived and was well topped with a minimum amount of edging.I enjoyed it all, although I struggled having not expected to have a starter. I returned two days later and it was raining. With me this time was my daughter, son in law, 7 year old son and daughter aged five. For starters we had two pates, on goats cheese tart and a smoked salmon and prawn cocktail. All were delicious although I would have preferred actual toast as opposed to the Melba toast served. All five of us chose the Roast Lamb for mains. Not often seen on menus unless a supplement is charged. We did have to wait a while for the mains but we weren't in a rush so no problem. Their were many more punters on this visit so a wait for a great Sunday Roast was OK. Five plates duly arrived, three adult size and two children. Yorkshire puddings with gravy inserted, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, lamb and separate bowls of whole green beans, mashed carrots with perhaps swede and cauliflower cheese like Mum would make. Plenty of all. Also a large gravy boat. Now the Lamb surprised us, as it came as a large circular unit in the centre made of pure pulled lean lamb. Like a terrine. It was wonderful. We then went onto desserts which were choc Fudge cake, sticky Toffee pudding and cherry Crumble all served with ice cream. All excellent like the rest of the meal. The service was exemplary and my daughter commented several times on the cleanliness of the establishment. I had met the owner/chef on my first visit and we shared part of our life history, and I came away knowing that he cared very much about his business, his food and his customers. The location of the White Swan means that whoever runs it has to try very hard. We, as a family and me solo, will definitely return for some more great grubb. Congratulations to all and thank you.

We visited this pub for a meal after being held up on the M62 for almost 2 hours! Weary and hungry we were quickly served by a delightful lady behind the bar who took us to a seat in the dining area which was relatively quiet. The food was good and very reasonably priced and I was delighted with my gluten free pizza charged at the same price as a normal pizza - too often a premium is added. Well done!

We are rare beef lovers, but couldn’t fault the large fillet steak sized topside of beef, cooked until it fell apart. Everything was delicious and the bar staff and waitresses were lovely.

Visited Sunday 13 th October, as was staying in the area with work. Was told that only serving Sunday lunch, which left me disappointed as it is not 1 of my favourite meals However, I ordered lamb, which came with the usual accompaniments, and it was amazing, the lamb melted in the mouth. This pub was great for a pit stop enroute to our hotel. In fact the food surprised. IT was really good. Shame they didn't serve more sandwiches but waht we had was brilliant. Recommend the Piri Piri Chicken

We both had lasagne. Obviously homemade and with a delicious sauce full of tomato flavour. On this occasion unfortunately could not enjoy a dessert as full up.

We have had lovely sunday lunches at this pub and the food is excellent, my favourite roast is the lamb and it is very popular sometimes running out early as it is freshly cooked. As for a remark recently posted "boil in the bag lamb" if you can buy boil in the bag lamb please share, it is a ridiculous remark and all the food is freshly prepared this person obviously doesn't eat good food as you can tell the difference between frozen and fresh potatoes. Well done the white swan for continually serving excellent fresh made food as you can see from all your brilliant reviews. There is always someone who has to have a moan for no reason this person needs to get a life and maybe learn how to cook good food themselves, then they can tell the difference between fresh and frozen.Maybe this person has a hidden agenda????

We went for Sunday lunch and we were extremely disappointed. The staff had bigged up how great their Sunday lunch was and so decided to try it. I picked the Lamb and my wife had the Turkey. The Lamb was like a boil in the bag joint with no taste. Not sure if it ever has seen a lamb! The Yorkshire Pudding and the roast potatoes were direct from the freezer. Never again!!!!

Evening meal with friends. Fantastic. Freshly cooked Pizzas. Nice Gin and Tonics. Home made desserts. Will be back.

Been a few times and always saying about the food how great it is prepared and the service being best ever ,So family members said they would like to try as they could not find anywhere that served a proper SUNDAY lunch anymore and now cannot keep them away everyone is like Family and best friends . All I know the CHEF knows how to lovingly prepare the meats the whole meal is crafted with love you can taste it !

Had a fantastic meal, all home cooked, high quality. We had the Ultimate Burger and Lasagne, homemade cheesecake for dessert. Really surprised at the quality, it is now on our very short list of places to eat in the Huddersfield area, there are so few places offering good quality, homemade reasonably priced food with excellent service and so pleased to find one to add to our list. We will be regulars, staff are great.
