We went here for the first time for a family Christmas meal and we were so impressed. The food was outstanding. I can honestly say it was better than alot of places I have eaten. I had the pumpkin veloute, turkey and Christmas pudding. Every course was really tasty and well cooked. Everything is cooked on site by the students. All of our plates were empty! Our main server Jack was very friendly, professional, attentive and knowledgeable when we asked about the food. He also sorted it for my son to have some ice-cream as he didn't like any of the puddings on the menu. Well done to all of the students, staff and tutors both kitchen and front of house. It was a lovely evening and we will definitely be returning. We would all highly recommend eating here. Definitely worthy of their 2 Rosettes.

This is the second time that we have eaten in The Ballroom restaurant at Hoar Cross Hall Like any restaurant, all three of the crucial elements need to be right for it to be considered exceptional, the food, the ambiance and the quality of the service The Ballroom at Hoar Cross Hall cannot be faulted, excellent food, beautifully prepared and presented, served by charming, attentive and knowledgeable staff in a magnificent setting

We have recently had our wedding here at dovecliff me and my wife felt like queens. The staff gave us 5star experience, they couldn’t do enough for us. Our wedding was truly amazing with thanks to Jordan and all the staff at Dovecliff. We will definitely be returning for a meal or show. Jordan and the staff couldn’t do enough for us and were so accommodating in every way possible. The planning of the day went perfectly and smoothly. Thanks again Dovecliff for supporting us to give us a perfect day. Lisa and Katherine

Popped in for 2 pints after work, don't live in the area. Got £100 fine for using the car park, even though it was for the pub. Manager can't help with this so must pay fine. Total cost £110 for 2 pints. Yeah, crazy.

If you’re looking for a trendy spot in Burton town centre to enjoy a simple but divine Sunday roast then this is the place to go. The staff are attentive but not over bearing, there’s a great selection of drinks and a diverse menu of nibbles, tapas and roasts both for meat eaters, pescatarians and vegans. The roast potatoes are the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant and the Yorkshire puddings are huge and clearly cooked fresh. A simple medley of veg and cauliflower cheese accompanies, just enough to share between two. Will return if I visit Burton again in the future

Welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, open fire, quiet, easy to listen to background music Excellent meal, can highly recommend the duck in cherry sauce with roasted beetroot, chips and plenty of seasonal vegetables. Convenient from Stanshope, recommended by locals.

Myself and my family visited here for Christmas Day 2024. Paying £105 per person and £50 for my 7 year old son. Myself and my son tripped on some unlevel flooring, and the manager proceeded to laugh and say ‘how many drinks have you had’. There was no apology, or concern, and also no sign or warning for the unlevel flooring. The ‘king prawn starter was not king prawns, it was a very small glass with small prawns and 1 king prawn. No table cloths, candles, nothing. My son’s starter arrived 30 minutes after the adults starters. Very basic, mediocre dinner. We unfortunately expected more for Christmas Day and especially paying the prices we did. Certainly won’t be returning. Very disappointed.

Went for a Sunday dinner here in November and it was mediocre, as was the service however it was a new offering and team. We decided to give it another go yesterday and it was great, the dry aged Sirloin was absolutely amazing, Would have given a 5 but still small room for improvement, serve the gravy separately and a cauliflower cheese? My starter was lovely and the service was excellent. Booked for next week as local businesses deserve support particularly when they are offering such good food.
