The Plough Inn in East Staffordshire

The pub is what you would expect if not a little expensive. Landlord is a strange fellow. Best idea is to try not to speak to him as unless you are ready for a long chat about how great he is. Also, I would suggest only ever buying half a pint at a time just in case he decides your time has come. We have only been in a couple of times but on both occasions someone has been barred for a trivial problem or disagreement.

Wow what an experience. We visited last Saturday night the pub was so busy around 10.30pm but the staff behind the bar literally just was not phased by this and carried on so professionally. An amazing atmosphere. Our new local I think .

We went here for the monthly cheese selection night with assorted ploughman’s pork pies and assorted meats. Everyone we went with enjoyed very much. We will definitely be returning soon (already booked for the next one)

Just been to my 3rd cheese night with friends amazing food as always plus the usual friendly staff. already booked for the next one. if you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go you won’t be disappointed only £8.50 each .

Amazing family run pub, plenty of pizza options (I recommend their new sweet pizzas) and they cater for any dietary requirements. Very dog friendly with free dog treats available.

Called for a drink and get-together with the family, buffet was ok, drink was good.

Fantastic New food Menu has launched today!! I recently visited The Plough Inn Horninglow and discovered their new menu launch featuring delicious nachos and wider range of pizzas. (Including a few sweet treats!) The original nachos are a perfect starter, loaded with cheese, jalapeños, and a generous serving of guacamole. Plenty of other flavours to choose from too. The pizzas are equally impressive, with a range of toppings to suit every taste. But the food isn’t the only highlight. The drink selection is outstanding, offering something for everyone. You can enjoy a refreshing pint of Inch’s Cider, a classic Guinness, or a local favorite like Pedigree. For those who appreciate cask ales, there are many to choose from. If you prefer lagers, you’ll be pleased to find Birra Moretti and San Miguel on tap, among others. Excellent family ran pub. Brilliant pizzas and great range of drinks. Come here quite regular now with both friends and family. Garden is amazing. Cannot wait fir the live music in the garden when the summer finally starts.

Lovely pub and welcomes dogs. Landlord made an effort to talk and get to know us. We didn't have food but will be sure to come back to try it. A lot of time and effort has gone into it to make the place friendly for everyone

Being local, myself and partner and friends often go for drinks and pizza at The Plough. We can't rate this pub enough. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are polite and very helpful and we always enjoy the food and any events they have on- particularly the 'cheese night'! We couldn't recommend this pub enough and look forward to nipping down again, very soon!

Just had a couple of beers and a takeaway pizza, absolutely fantastic value and one of the best pizzas I've had for years. Well done shaun and all the staff for a great experience 👍👍👍Well worth a visit.

Great traditional pub with a great lively friendly atmosphere. Small snack menu and pizza menu but tried the pork pie and it was amazing. Only called in for a couple and ended up staying for the rugby. Great chatty friendly bar staff and very clean. Worth a visit

Great local pub keeping a good traditional feel to the place- family run and friendly. ( doggies welcome too ) Great selection of bar snacks and pizzas made to order. Far too many pubs are closing these days but this one has definately has got it right and long may it stay that way.

Attended the Plough Inn, Horninglow for the cheese night. Absolutely fantastic. Couldn’t believe how much we got, great selection, brilliantly presented and organised. The Plough is a brilliant atmosphere with polite and welcoming staff. There’s always something going on whether it be cheese nights, quiz nights, meat raffles ect they really do go above and beyond to provide different events for everybody. Really enjoyed the cheese night and will definitely be going again!

Lovely family pub, fantastic food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. Very dog friendly, in fact our pooch gets excited to visit and the plough is always raising money for local charities and a great meat raffle on a Sunday won many a fabulous prize from Tebbuts the butchers. I have loved the Plough for such a long time and it has become our local for many of us. Feeding the dog caused an issue, we ordered food from the pub however giving the dog something was a problem even though they say dogs are welcome. The landlord spoke to my friends daughter very harshly even though she was in a separate room eating a pizza, we asked to talk to the landlord to explain what was going on in a very relaxed manner. We left because we didn't feel the presence that were given after was welcoming.

A great local doesn’t get much better than this. When it comes to Burton, beer and the pubs the beer is sold in, everyone knows of the Coopers Tavern, the Bridge Inn, the Elms, the Roebuck and maybe the Devonshire, but I wonder how many have heard of the Plough on the outskirts of town in Horninglow. It’s a very local friendly pub, but don’t let that put you off into thinking the place is just some tatty boozer, it’s more than that for sure. The pub is very well managed by the family who run it (so it’s always bustling on a Friday night typically), the food is great for a pub (recommend the pizzas and the bread rolls/cobs), plenty of parking, dog friendly, prices are decent (Tuesdays are good to visit with discounts on the cask ales), and the range of beers available is always pretty fab too (I think there’s usually two or three regular ones and the others are changing beers, could be wrong about that) So when you’re visiting Burton to crawl around the pubs seeing what they have to offer in 2023, alongside the usual suspects downtown, consider popping into the Plough for a pint or two while you’re in town!

Not been here for years - changed for the better - nice use of the available space with good use of garden space. Very good at self publicity, letting the punters know what events are coming up. Frienly bar staff, plenty of parking - liked it !

Do not go to the Plough Horninglow Road, Burton on Trent. Definitely NOT family friendly! Will never go back! Did not feel welcomed from the moment we entered the premises. Advertised singers through out the day had 2! Kids had a bit of a laugh. Was told to keep them under control, wouldn’t mind if they had been out of control! When stated wouldn’t come back as didn’t feel welcome. Landlord said good! Another pub to go bankrupt within the next 6 months! What a shame!!

Our regular pub and wouldn't go anywhere else. We bring family friends and our baby granddaughter. Really friendly atmosphere and the landlord always go above and beyond to put on fantastic entertainment. Highly recommend

Went to Cheese night - absolutely fab! I've never seen such a fantastic and generous cheese board. Loads of different cheeses, chutneys and nibbles- we couldn't finish it! Really reasonable price and really god value. Book in advance though as the pub was full with everyone eating cheese! we'll be back next month.

Went for cheap beer night, not expecting anything great to be honest. Beer was superb, new lad on the bar was a little slow but in training. Landlord apologised but explained, but it was no issue. Lovely clean pub and everyone welcoming. Worth a taxi from Swadlincote with my mates.
