Love this place. Great selection of ales. Friendly atmosphere. Unpretentious local hub of the community. I love perusing the menu on the board and discussing options with other punters. All part of the fun. Never strangers for long

One of the pubs we visited while in Derby for a few days. A little micropub we sussed out when we were wondering where to go and what a find. Got some fab real ales on and is dog friendly. We were made to feel very welcome and will certainly be coming here again when in the area.

Great find for an afternoon tipple after exploring the village. Convivial company and great crack with the other customers and Gary (the owner). A good range of beers / ciders to choose from at reasonable prices. We will definitely make a return visit the next time we are in the area.

We visited early on a Saturday evening, the place was very busy. After choosing the beers and gin, the drinks were brought to where we were standing (no seats available). Because of it size, seating was limed , and tended to be rather noisy. A good place to call into for one, or when it's not so busy.

A unique social experience that you don't need to be a beer lover to get addicted! Having no bar, music, TV, phones (or even signal) it takes you back to basics and you talk to people. Not a new concept, but it 100% works. Recently expanded drinks selection provides a good range of G&T's and wine etc whilst still specialising in cask beer/cider.

First time visit with friends and found it busy with a good friendly atmosphere. We managed to get a seat and were asked what we would like to drink with reference to blackboards on the wall. We all selected Gates Burton Ale (a favourite or mine) and it was really good as expected. This is a real alternative to a traditional pub and should be experienced.

i don't actually drink alcohol but here they sell traditional soft drinks as well as micro brewery ales and am told delicious ciders. As it's not too far from where we live, although walkable on a cold and frosty eventide I drive, a visit is planned for tomorrow night (21st December) the decor is unusual very chunky high tables and bench seats all around, the casks are visible, they also serve nibbles and its dog friendly too. the only downside is their odd opening hours.

The Cask and Pottle is like no other. You walk in to the place to be surrounded by tall tables and friendly folk. Looking to the right there are black boards that have the spoils on offer for that day. From soft drinks to wine, traditional cider to real ales. Out of nowhere someone will appear and take your order and your choosing shall appear. The Cask and Pottle always offers a quiet pint or a friendly conversation with a stranger. It's an amazing little venue and always recommended highly.

Visitamos después de los fuegos artificiales en el castillo, era cálido y acogedor, una buena selección de cervezas y sidras (incluyendo una deliciosa comida caliente de sidra caliente). We called in on recommendation to try the cask beer. We worked out ourselves how to order from a guest beer board as there was no bar. The host was non communicative, there was no welcome, no chit chat and he had no knowledge of where the beer I ordered came from. In fact he spent most of the hour we were there checking his mobile phone for messages or smoking. In fact I didn't see him wash his hands after he had been for a cigarette. The toilet is a health hazard with a grubby towel to dry your hands. On the plus side the beer was exquisite although drunk in a crowded environment with no privacy.

We have been coming here since before it opened! Literally got shown around as we popped our head round the door when it was being decorated. We were welcomed in by Gary and it's our favourite pub/micro brewery. The best choice of ales. Gary always ensures a vary in the ales, there's normally about four or five on and a cider or two, wines and fentimans soft drinks. We love socialising here. Just wish we could come more now we have moved out of tutbury. Local cheese and pork pie are a must ! They are beautiful !

I have been visiting the Cask & Pottle for about a year now, both with my wife and family and friends. There's always an ever changing selection of ales, beers and ciders, they also offer wine and soft drinks all at very reasonable prices. There's also a good selection of top quality pork pies, cheeses and scotch eggs if you fancy something to soak up the drink. The staff are friendly and serve you at the table or where you stand, as there is no bar. Its a small venue and gets very busy, especially at weekends, so try and get in early as there is no late opening and usually closes around 10 pm. Highly recommend it, if your in the area and like your real ale's and ciders.

This is a great concept. Proper beer without the need to serve food. Most pubs now can't seem to survive without a restaurant and a lot of them make you feel uncomfortable if you just want to have a pint or two. This brilliant bar with its micro brewery out the back serves excellent ale at good prices. I wish I lived closer. We had a lovely hour or so with like minded people. If you like beer (or cider) and you are near Tutbury then call in - they even do takeaways in 2 or 4 pint containers.Excellent place.

My son having just moved round the corner from The Cask and Pottle it seemed rude not to pop in and sample there beer and cider. Four choices of real ale, three of cider in a room not as big as many living rooms. No bar, no music, no fruit machines just benches and tables and a friendly owner walking round taking orders. The beer was good, my son fully approved of the cider and all at a very reasonable price. My son informed me that he and his wife will be regular visitors and so will I when I next visit Tutbury.

If you want great ales at a good price then visit this place - the pork pie is to die for too! A very small and basic place with no frills and best off all mobile phones must be on silent. Yes as a local I know it can regretfully get too packed but cram in, order a beer and start to chat... It is that kind of place where people happily pass the time of day with each other over a jar or two. A slice of the past where people matter.

Tiny, unfriendly and unwelcoming ! Not being from the area we thought we'd try it so after we walked in we were quite surprised to see there was no bar ! Unaware of how to order drinks we stood (rather awkwardly) in the middle of the room waiting for the owner/ waitress to give us a clue. With it being so small she actually pushed past us a couple of times without a word of welcome or a 'take a seat'...we were just ignored basically !We turned on our heels after a few minutes and left..obviously they didn't need or want our custom ! What a shame as this place had been highly recommended by a friend of mine but this experience has left a bitter taste and I doubt I shall return again. Tut tut Cask & Pottle, being a relatively new place you should be welcoming new customers with arms wide open not by ignoring them ! Good Luck...think you're going to need it !

The Cask & Pottle sits at the end of the High Street in the middle of Tutbury. Converted from a sweet shop into a micropub, there are high tables around the edges of the room with raised bench seating. On first entering it was a surprise to find that, unlike a normal pub, there is no bar. The proprietors serve the customers at their tables and fetch the beer from a stillage. There was a very good choice of real ales and cider available together with soft drinks and wine by the glass. I had Stroud brewery's "The Last Duel" and Springhead's "Oliver's Army" both reasonably priced at £2.80 per pint or £1.40 a half. The blackboard listing the beers indicated that snacks such as crisps, nuts, pork pies and cheese might be purchased by anyone feeling peckish. However, the key to this establishment is that it is free of the audio/visual noise that blights many pubs and because it is only small (think sweet shop) then people actually talk to each other whilst enjoying some excellent beer. A brilliant concept. As McArthur said, " I shall return".

The staff are so nice and the food is even better. I wish I could go everyday and with their prices I will probably be able too! In addition, the portion sizes are brilliant and it is suitable for everybody from young kids, to more elderly people. There is also an option to choose your own breakfast so if you are a picky eater, you can have whatever you want! Overall, I would highly recommend Saddlers, whether you want to go for breakfast or just a coffee (which were also brilliant by the way). The only negative things is that it is out the way of Uttoxeter's main town! It should be in the center because it is one of the best places in the whole town! Anyway, I would highly recommend this place and if you are going to go, make sure to bring someone else so they can also experience this delight!

Eat your heart out Rick Stein and son! The best battered fish I’ve had in years. Amazing Mackerel starter and the best battered fish for absolutely ages! Not to forget the tartar sauce - simply delicious. Apparently, chef’s name was Craig. Couldn’t even try his steak pie as it had already sold out - by 3pm! If you’ve enjoyed Whitby’s finest - (or Rick Stein’s ‘finest’), you need to try Craig’s offering here. Wow, so good. Splendid service, too. Thank you.
