We visit a lot of local Mid Devon pubs and the Butterleigh is by far the best locally for good quality food and a lovely atmosphere. The food has been excellent on every visit that we have made since the new owners took over last year. There were a lot of service issues last year but they seem to have got on top of it now and have a really good team. The food service can be slow sometimes but it is all fresh and tasty and well worth the wait. Recommend a vist!

A lovely pub where we met with family who came up from Dartmoor to visit us on holiday. Stunning views across the river, a beautiful garden, great staff and dogs welcome. The food was passable, the pork belly tasted like it had been microwaved unfortunately, but the veggie lasagne was good but could've done with a bit more seasoning. I would love to return when it's warmer to sit out in the garden but I imagine it probably gets very busy being so picturesque.

Quite hard to rate this tbh. Despite the lowest rating I would stay again. The pub itself is excellent with excellent well kept ale and a nice atmosphere. The accommodation was a little more hit and miss. The room itself was absolutely fine, warm a good size and we were shown how to use the thermostat. Lights were subtle and pleasant though one side light didn't work, but equally it is cheap and affordable. Not enough towels provided, but on request we got more of these. No coffee in the shared kitchen and the WiFi was patchy to say the least. The boiler makes a low humming at night, so if like me these things bother you, worth investing in earplugs, but it didn't bother the rest of the family. However these are all fairly minor details and not something which bothers me overly with cheaper accommodation like this. The main issue was being locked out of the rooms on the evening of Christmas day alongside the other residents staying at the same time. That was pretty poor, but we did get it rectified fairly quickly; within about 45 minutes, it did help having local connections here as the other residents had been waiting an additional 30 minutes at least and had no such luck. Tbh makes an amusing story at least.

Great value cafe cum restaurant attached to a Esso petrol station on the edge of Willand on the main road to Cullompton. 5 minutes off the M5. Don't be put off by the appearance from the outside. The menu is wide and varied and the food freshly cooked. Great value food served by friendly local Devonians. We had a roast dinner for £10.95...yum! Roast beef and turkey was first class. Lots of local folk eat there. Much better than nearby motorway services. Psst... don't tell anyone else.

Had our Valentines dinner here. Superb home cooked food, freshly cooked using locally sourced products. We had the grilled sea bass on a bed of home made ratatouille, followed by a superb home made lemon & raspberry cheese cake with pouring cream for dessert. It was all so tasty, and great value for money. A superb evening, friendly staff and great efficient service.

Do not stay here if you're a female traveller staying alone. I was looking forward to my stay at the end of a work trip to spend a further night meeting a local friend for dinner. Upon check in I was told that the heating had been turned on in my room, which I understand as fully appreciate heating costs, but the room was absolutely freezing. Towards the end of the staff member showing me to my room, she said that no staff stay on site at night and the pub closes at 10.30pm so you will need a key to access the pub. I thought this was strange so asked if anyone else was staying. I was told a man in the room next door. I was running late to meet my friend so during my car journey I reflected on what the staff member said and did not feel at all comfortable staying alone with a male guest. Anything could have happened. Staff not being present on site was not told to me upon booking. After the meal with my friend I returned to the Lamb Inn to explain my situation to the staff member and went to collect my belongings as I didn't feel comfortable staying. She agreed with my situation yet the Lamb Inn are refusing to give me a refund via expedia. I am£70 out of pocket as I then went to stay at a Premier Inn where I felt safe. Shame, I was really looking forward to my stay here. To the owners, do not promote your business as a hotel if you do not have the capability to run it like one!
