Ripleys Restaurant in Mid Devon

After being in hospitality for over 20 years it takes plenty of experience to be as adaptive and versatile as these employees. Seeing 2 of them jump between reception, restaurant, bar and serving food was impressive. Whilst I don't agree it's fair to allow people to be overwhelmed and stretched just for the sake of saving a few ££ as it subsequently forces people to jump between roles. These two ladies in particular handled it graciously and perfectly so well done! However it is not a fair work practice hence the score

Very nice little restaurant just next to the bar good choice of meals do a wonderful Sunday carvery with at least 6 fresh vegetables

Had a lovely meal out for my son's birthday. We had a lovely meal and the staff were great.

Good English breakfast for 11 pounds was a good value

Some hotel restaurants are a bit blandish...but not here! Outside look of the hotel is a little corporate but inside the lounge, bar and restaurant are really nice spaces. I had the spicy meatballs to start, very tasty, very filling and fresh. Cheeseboard was delicious and good value for money, as was the Shiraz! Waiting staff all pleasant, efficient and friendly.

Excellent Sunday roast at a reasonable price. Good service and quiet atmosphere.

Had dinner here while staying overnight at the hotel. The menu was a bit limited but the food was lovely, the service was good and the surroundings were very pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was also very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would eat in the restaurant if visiting again.

Lunch was very nice, but let down by the cheese board and marks on glasses and cutlery. Just need to take a rethink.. and step up.

Eat here whilst staying at the hotel for 4 nights. Choice of menu good, and to be able to have a Sunday roast on the Sunday evening was a bonus!!

Probably a limited menu due to Covid but very uninspiring and basic.. only ate here as I was staying here and definitely wouldn’t return. Fish and chips were poor, batter too thick so the batter inside was raw and stodgy. Fish itself was ok, but frozen chips and cold peas little to be positive about.

Delicious food, breakfast was freshly cooked, and they participated in the Eat out to Help Out Scheme we had a lovely evening meal there.

We booked last minute on a Sunday for lunch,the staff were very friendly when we arrived and showed us to our table,we then found out that you could order from the bar menu as well as the carvery which made our 2 daughters very happy,the carvery was lovely with a great selection of vegetables and the memeber of staff serving the meat was super friendly and helpful,one of our daughters had the fish and chips and this was a generous portion and cooked to perfection,we are local so will return for sure,thanks for a great local experience

Forteen of us in seven rooms, we were al able to sit together and the food all arrived at the same time, good and friendly service.

Having been to Ripleys Restaurant (Padbrook Park Hotel, Cullompton, Devon) several times over the past year, I simply had to write a review. Outstanding is an understatement, I can’t tell you how superb the quality and taste of the food are. They consistently of the highest standard and I have never had reason to question this. The Sunday Lunch Carvery is delectable, a selection of meat and vegetables cooked to perfection with all the trimmings you’d expect to get...but, the flavours are balanced perfectly. Standards are kept to the Highest standards. The staff are friendly, professional and approachable...nothing is too much for them! They take pride in their work and it shows. The restaurant is immaculately clean and tidy as are the staff themselves. I have never seen or heard anything other than extreme politeness from all of their team. The price is a reflection of the quality and standard which is well worth every penny! Even if I could cook to this standard (I’m a reasonable cook!), I would still come to Ripleys as the service is second to none. Having stayed and been to numerous restaurants and hotels all over the UK and the rest of the world - the standards here are on par to 5 star dining without the price tag. It is refreshing to witness a place going the extra mile with a strong team and customer focus. You MUST book! If you turn up then they will try to accommodate you, but there will be a wait! Generally even a week before they’re booked up, so bear that in mind. It is incredibly popular, which is an indication of how superb this Carvery is. Special Days (Father’s Day, Mother’s Day etc) book up quickly - so as soon as you know your numbers book to guarantee your spot. Having been today for the umpteenth time, not only am I thinking of my next visit, but my tastebuds are still tingling from the experience. If you love a Sunday Carvery then this the ultimate experience.

Had 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts here last week all very good and tasty, clean tables and very helpful staff

Don't bother!! Worst customer service I've ever seen!!! Walked into the reception and waited to be seen for a table of two, receptionist was seeing to a customer very slowly, didn't look up and acknowledge us no other staff insight but we could hear a couple of waitresses or cleaners chatting away about men around the corner, we even rang the ripleys restaurant number while waiting there and no one answered, unwelcoming, understaffed, staff need training...... A joke. Off to the bakehouse in town now which is lovely for lunch and treats us like valued customers everytime.

We decided to have the dinner in the Restaurant on the evening of our arrival. The menu was okay and we found main courses we thought we would enjoy. The problem was the SLOW service and looooong wait, in spite of the fact that there were only about 10 people eating, either in the bar or restaurant! The staff were all very pleasant and seemed to be multitasking between Reception, Bar and restaurant, but the food just took ages to arrive. When it did, it was 'pretty' food, which wasn't exactly filling, but tasted good. I really did enjoy the warm Rhubarb and Ginger Frangipane with vanilla ice-cream for pudding. in fact, two of those would probably have filled me up more! Breakfast next day was the same, lovely staff but a longish wait and really only mediocre and warm, not hot. The back bacon was rock hard so had obviously not been cooked fresh,and the beans were not hot, so why the long wait? Disappointing. We were glad it was included in our (discounted) room price, as really not worth the £10.00 it is advertised as costing.

This restaurant is situated in padbrook Park hotel. We went for Sunday lunch a family of 5 and 10 friends. There is a good vegetarian/vegan nut roast and variety of meat and vegetables. Nice staff and good service

A good selection of dishes, attentive but not obtrusive service from the hotel's excellent staff. I don't normally eat burgers, but another guest recommended I try one. It was very good. My wife had the chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. And very reasonably priced.

We had an evening meal & breakfast here & both were excellent. They cater for special diets on request. The staff are very friendly & helpful.

We had a delicious meal at this hotel the food was freshly cooked and was beautifully presented.the waitress service was excellent.

Found the hotel to excellent, very good food. Service was excellent good clean rooms very comfy beds. "Archie" enjoyed his stay with his own bowl of water in the bar .

Never been enthralled by the meals at Padbrook and feel it could offer alot more. Not sure how the Hotel can call this a Restaurant it is an extension of the lobby - screened off from the Lobby and Bar. All meals have been very average fare.

Muy buen restaurante. Han sido unas cuantas veces. Buena calidad de los ingredientes cocinados muy bien. Agradable tener comida decente en vez de mierda de microondas que muchos otros lugares no ahora. Es un poco más cara a otros lugares, pero yo personalmente creo que vale la pena tener una comida decente.

arrived fairly late and it wasnt a problem for them , only too glad to serve me , high quality establishment with really nice food

A diverse menu. The staff really helpful and not only able but willing to offer help, advice and make modifications to the menu for particular tastes. Complements to the chef.

Most of our meals were here. We did have two meals in another room sorry forgotten the name. All in all the food was good and a good service

Yo era lo suficientemente desafortunado para encontrar yo tener que alojarse en Cullompton un lunes por la noche cuando todas las recomendaciones de Tripadvisor en la ciudad están cerradas. Gracias por eso, ya que fue condenado a comer en el hotel donde me mantenido presentes 38,000 activos militares, que también es el hogar de Ripley. 10 libras por que las salchichas, puré y guisantes? No lo creo. Y luego, un buffet de desayuno caliente, llenar tus botas estilo en la mañana 1, que será seguido por una sola salchicha mísero mal cocinada, individual y en huevo rasher individual día dos. Para evitarlo.

Excellent quality of food although not many options for children. Would definitely visit again as our biggest son loved the burgers and the little one is always happy with something, chips and beans.

The food is lovely loads to choose from good quality. Breakfast had so many variety's for the children as well as the adults. The restaurant was so clean.

Richard allowed us to have a table for 8 earlier than the restaurant opened and continued with the excellent customer service for the entirety of our meal. Really lovely food from the steaks to the delicious duck. Restaurant has been decked out with swag comfy furniture which was an added bonus - definitely coming back

I have eaten here on a few occasions for golf events and family meals. Although the restaraunt is set out in a modern style with menus trying to show classics with a quality edge , it is just a golf club eatery . The quality of the food is OK but nothing to get over excited about, I believe the same kitchen cooks the food for the sports bar across the way as the restaraunt and it shows. The menu has some of the same food from the sports bar but at a higher price ! If your looking for a "foodie" experience and fine dining then this is not the place.

Very appealing menu with specials on most days.The only thing that would have made our meals even better would have been less salt in sauces.

Everything here is excellent from the service to the very consistent quality of the food. I can highly recommend eating here!
