Stopping at a local B&B, they recommended 👌 this pub for an evening meal and they were spit on. Friendly, efficient, polite and helpful staff, very clean, great food and an excellent beer. Highly recommended.

A traditional pub with a proper fire. Easy walking distance from our B&B. Usual pub classic dishes on the menu with certain ones having a choice of veg from a good selection. We enjoyed our meal. Quite busy early evening when we went in with lots of locals so a good vibe

The pub is very much a traditional country pub, spacious clean and decorated in fitting for a building of this age. We received a warm welcome. The menu is extensive, with pub cafe basics through to restaurant meals all at fair prices. we very much enjoyed our main course meals. The raspberry pavlova was exquisite, and very generous. A feast of fruit, meringue & cream, presented to a high standard and just £5! in a fine dinning restaurant would be three times the price. Although a long drive from we must go back sometime soon.

I wandered down from my B&B to find a very friendly lady behind the bar who made me feel right at home! As I was on my own, I really appreciated that she had reserved a table for me where I could look out the front window and watch the world go by. I opted for roast lamb with all the trimmings, and loved the wide range of vegetable dishes I could choose from -- generous portions of everything and it was yummy. My waitress was also really friendly. Atmosphere very relaxed and everything very well priced. Recommended!

I love it when an initial apprehension is turned on its head & transformed into something far beyond anything expected. We could never have anticipated how utterly yummy the food was or how it was presented. We'd seen what we'd wanted on their 'take-out menu' in the window f the closed pub the night before, but were lucky enough to have the last remaining portions of chicken breast filled with herby cheese in a peppercorn sauce, with a choice of such gorgeous veggies it was almost impossible to choose; we tucked in before thinking of taking a photograph! But the dessert - oh my! Bliss on a plate.

I came in with my mum to have some food a bar lady greeted us. It was only us in the building. The bar lady didn’t smile nor talk much we ordered the lamb roast and had a coke which was just the syrup of the coke no soda at all. Very small car park we sat down by the window in the bar nothing was cleaned in over a yr what looked liked my mum went toilet and said they were not the cleanest the could of been. All the workers there looked tired of being there. The bar lady was playing slots on the computer and not paying any attention at all. I went to see what the restaurant looked like and it was dim no lights only lamps that looked filthy. Then I I heard a ding from the kitchen that sounded like it came from a microwave. The lady brought are food over with holding clothes however the plates were not hot at all it was to make look that they were hot. Everything on the plate was microwaved and the carrots were really salts and was lifeless nothing was fresh. While she was playing slots she hadn’t relished we have been finished for a while after 7 mins later she took the plates she never asked if we enjoyed are meal which we both didn’t. I asked for the dessert menu and she brought a chalk board over it was hard to read since they wrote it in kids chalk. I had the brownie and ice cream. The brownie didn’t taste like a homemade brownie it taste like they bought it from a company. We left and a man said thank u in a sluggish way. Until I realise that they flipped the sign over for closed when it says in there website 12-12 which is obviously false. The place look like it have retired with all the workers there. Very horrible and disappointing will not be coming again. I do not recommend!

Visited with a friend for lunch at 1 p.m. and, apart from us, the restaurant and bar were completely empty. We now know why! I ordered roast lamb which came microwaved, grey and unappetising and my friend ordered haddock florentine which was over cooked, dry and hard. The vegetables were a microwaved soggy mess that tasted of nothing. On collection the nearly full plates were taken with no query other than “have you finished”. On the plus side the building was nice and warm on a cold, wet day. We paid but will not return

Visiting a friend who is looking to move into the area and popped in to try the local free house. Despite being managed by relief staff we were welcomed and enjoyed one of the best value Sunday roasts we’ve had for a long time. It’s pub food but at pub prices, it exceeded our expectations. Well done

We were staying in Brambles guest House up the road (again) and this is about the only place you can get to on foot for an evening meal. It wasn't busy in the restaurant, though the bar was clearly the place for many locals to relax. the menu is pretty broad and is enlivened by a host of specials, different from our last visit. We both chose the (half) roast duck, which was substantial but a bit overcooked. We didn't enjoy it as much as our last meal there but maybe we made the wrong menu choice for us, as the other few couples there seemed to be tucking in alright! The wine list was modest and reasonably priced, we felt much better after splitting a bottle. Desserts were good.

Every time I go for a meal at the Redwoods, I am always very happy. The food is always tip top, with plenty of home made selections on offer. None of that horrible frozen veg, and really great portions. My favourite is the duck. Extremely good value, lovely surroundings and very friendly and efficient staff. Our latest visit was in the evening, a celebration with 8 ladies. We were all very impressed with our different meal choices. In process of making another booking with this great find.

This is a quaint rural pub with lots of character. A warm and friendly greeting on arrival, then a dilemma, what to order! Spoilt for choice with local specialities. I ordered Devonshire chicken, served with bacon, mushrooms, apples and cheese in a cider apple sauce, delicious. I love the vegetable choices and would recommend the braised red cabbage, the best I have tasted. High quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented well. Just passing through but wish this was my local.

La comida no tardaron mucho y estaba todo muy bien preparado y abundante, especialmente el cerdo y carne, lo que fue una agradable sorpresa, teniendo en cuenta que era buena relación calidad-precio a más de £8 cada uno. The Redwoods is your typical country pub with low ceilings and beams giving it the ultimate cosy feel. The landlords are friendly and welcoming and will cater to most needs upon request. The foods good home style cooking and theres something to suit most. The best bit about the pub is the skittle alley, making it the perfect place to have a little get together with friends over a game of skittles. Theres also outdoor seating which we find particularly good in the summer! Its generally quite quiet but this just means you get better service as their not running around like headless chickens!

My husband and I have frequented the Swan Neck cafe many times, as we walk along Tiverton canal regularly. The experience has always been fantastic - cakes, coffee, hot chocolate - top rate. However my experience today was somewhat disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll. I was astonished to see when it arrived that it was a smallish coffee cup of soup, rather than a bowl, accompanied by a small white roll. £7.50! The soup was delicious but in my opinion it should have cost about half what was paid. I always try to support small independent businesses but I'm afraid today's experience has left me feeling rather wounded and that I have been taken advantage of. Definitely not value for money in my opinion. Sorry Swan Neck but you've got it wrong on this one.

We called in for something to eat but it cost us over sixteen pounds for two coffees and two bland cakes you could go to bridge house just up the road and for another three pounds you can have two large coffees with two large snacks ,etc, Welsh rarebit with masses of gammon .the decor does not suit the bakery though I suppose that's what you are paying for but l for one do not like being ripped off,why calling a bakery when you can't buy any bread or cakes as you have to order it days in advance and there isn't any thing on display in the window. They are trying to be an upmarket cafe in the wrong place.we won't bother going there again ,rather go up the road ., at least we won't be ripped off.
