My husband and I have frequented the Swan Neck cafe many times, as we walk along Tiverton canal regularly. The experience has always been fantastic - cakes, coffee, hot chocolate - top rate. However my experience today was somewhat disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll. I was astonished to see when it arrived that it was a smallish coffee cup of soup, rather than a bowl, accompanied by a small white roll. £7.50! The soup was delicious but in my opinion it should have cost about half what was paid. I always try to support small independent businesses but I'm afraid today's experience has left me feeling rather wounded and that I have been taken advantage of. Definitely not value for money in my opinion. Sorry Swan Neck but you've got it wrong on this one.

We are so lucky to have both the Farm shop itself and the lovely Swans Neck cafe right on our doorstep in HALBERTON. The cafe is a small place but with a big heart thanks to the lovely team that run it who are always very friendly and welcoming. Lucy makes a great coffee and the menu whilst small changes daily and uses the freshest ingredients many of which are grown on the farm. The selection of locally made cakes are varied and delicious. Very dog friendly and as well as cosy indoor seating there’s a lovely outside space for good weather. Great for Breakfast, lunch and snacks, ice creams and drinks in between. If you haven’t walked the lovely circular ‘Swans Nest’ canal walk right from the ‘free to park’ farm shop car park starting or finishing with a visit to the cafe you’re missing a treat.

We use the cafe as a family meeting point regularly. The canal is a nice walk and the cafe is dog friendly. Today we had soup which was delicious but took a long time even though there were 4 staff working. The service always seems disorganised, you wait too long for food and particularly coffee. It's a real shame that the service ruins the experience.

Such a lovely place to visit as locals. We've been visiting regularly for many years but prices have now gone beyond our budget. £3.60 for a toasted teacake today, add a coffee and x2. £14. Not so much a little treat but a luxury. Thankfully for them, there are plenty of people still willing to pay these prices. We wish them well but sadly we walk away.

My first time coming to the swans neck cafe recently and will definitely be returning soon. Such friendly atmosphere and kind staff, especially the young brunette woman who served me multiple times during my stay, Becky or Beth if I stand by correctly. The coffees she had made for myself and my family, had many different patterns and designs on each drink-so brilliant! Professional, kind and well cared for. Also the meals which were kindly brought to us was delicious, well plated and generous portions. Worth every penny.

Went to pick your own with our granddaughter. Strawberries were plentiful and delicious. However we had coffee - what a disappointment. I had iced coffee which was served in an ordinary short soft drink glass and wasn’t exactly filled to the brim! Our granddaughter had a chocolate milkshake - this was served in an even smaller glass and I had to ask for it to topped up - although we had no ‘extras’ there was very little to the pre ration to make it look tasty - a dribble of chocolate on the sides no froth and looked very milky. Sat outside looking at old poly tunnels with piles of old crates and weeds piled up. The ‘garden’ area was overgrown. Was this trying to be ‘rustic’???? Shall return for strawberries but definitely not drinks as presentation, outside area and prices were a lot to be desired.

I have been visiting this cafe regularly since Covid restrictions were lifted. It's perfectly situated on a circular canal walk and very person and dog friendly! The staff work tirelessly and make efforts to get to know their customers making it personable, warm and friendly! Many of the cakes are home made by staff members (the carrot and pineapple one is amazing!). I go here to relax in an otherwise hectic life and that's exactly what this cafe provides - there are queues sometimes due to it's popularity with cycling groups snd dog walkers - but use it to your advantage and chat to the other lovely customers!

We were looking forward to lunch, after our walk, but after waiting and waiting and waiting for the one customer in front of me to be served with a large order I was on the verge of giving up. There were a number of staff milling around, very slowly, in the background who didn't have the courtesy to acknowledge me. The one positive was, that, it gave me plenty of time to read the menu and realise how expensive everything was. We also witnessed a staff member stroking a customers dog and return to the kitchen. We only ate there as we had no other option, didn't bother with a coffee as couldn't put up with the wait and we won't return.

Been here before, but disappointed this morning. We were shown a table for 6 inside. A single customer arrived and was shown to a table in the corner that was only a meter away. We had to move our table away from him, he was that close his dog was within reach of us. Not his or the dog's fault, but we didn't feel comfortable having someone that close.Good was fabulous, but we asked for a second round of drinks, was told we could shout the order to a member of staff, but no-one took our order so we never got our drinks. Not sure if all phone networks have an issue there, but was unable to "check in" with the App and there was no paper and pen alternative. We then had quite a wait to pay. Think they need to sort out a separate takeaway area as it got very busy around the counter where no-one is supposed to be.We won't be returning for a while as didn't feel enough shielding measures were in place. Shame

If you're going along the Grand Western Canal, this is well worth the small diversion via The Swans Neck circular walk, in fact this cafe is also known now as The Swans Neck cafe, fantastic tea, cakes and sandwiches, the freshly made sandwiches are superb, plenty of filling. The Farm shop is well stocked for provisions too, and a large pick your own facility. The only thing that prevented a 5 star rating, the pasties looked lovely, but sadly when they arrived to my table, they had been microwaved, how to ruin a good pasty? stick it in a microwave and turn it into a rubbery tasteless mush. A shame as the the inside had all the hall marks of being a good pasty, plenty of steak, potato onion and swede, so why do establishments ruin them via a microwave?

Ignore what Tripadvisor says about opening hours, the cafe is closed until Easter (as we discovered when we arrived there today)...... but the farm shop is great, really good fresh produce. And the cafe, when it is open, is lovely!

We get as much as we can here due to the exceptional value. The vegetables are so much better than supermarket stuff and the butcher section is also brilliant. Such helpful and smiley staff.

All very good here - food is excellent and not too pricey. Everything is homemade and staff are very friendly. Top 3 tips: 1) Go on a nice day and sit outside. 2) don't go if you are in a rush - the service is friendly but don't expect a quick turnaround 3) buy your veg from the farm shop - the produce is excellent.

My partner and I are regulars at the Tea Room. Delicious home made frittatas, quiches and pies with salad. Reasonably priced and always a warm welcome. Nice garden as well. Best farm shop cafe for miles around. Highly recommended.

myself, husband And our 2 daughters age 7 & 3 visited yesterday with the grandparents for a afternoon of strawberry and raspberry picking and what a great afternoon we all had. Our daughters loved being able to pick their own strawberries and raspberries and we finished off our afternoon with a fantastic cream tea, staff were very friendly and we will definitely be back great base for a lovely relaxing afternoon with the family.

The farm shop and tea room is an ideal base for doing the delightful "Swan's Neck" walk around the loop in the Grand Western Canal. The food is freshly prepared and reasonably good value, and the garden is an attractive place to enjoy your lunch or tea. You're ten minutes from M5 junction 27 at Tiverton Parkway, so this is also a useful pit stop if you're passing through.

We have visited this farm shop on a couple of occasions to buy vegetables and meat from the butchery within the shop. Unfortunately we had some very tough beef from the butchery, probably just bad luck but as a consequence we have not returned. Needless to say they sell a very good choice of extremely tasty cakes, biscuits etc and a very good selection of fresh vegetables along with all the other 'farm shop' items, milk and eggs etc so very handy.

It is great to visit the tea room and shop when you are out there strawberry picking or just fancy somewhere to visit when you have done a walk along the canal to Halberton, although the food in the shop and tea room are slightly more expensive they are well worth the extra expense, as well as having the nice rooms inside the is a nice garden outside for people to either sit on the tables provided or even just sit on the grass on a lovely day.

This is a cafe with good salads, hot food, and home-made cakes , fresh produce as you would imagine from a farm shop - (though no organic)...plentiful .good outside seating as well as inside for inclement weather.Serving the walkers and cyclists of the Tiverton canal basin really well ....and also is on route to the Tiverton Parkway rail Station too.Staff could be more welcoming in truth ....but the food is enjoyable, cafe type food.Thoughtfully, there are newspapers to read & it is a good pit stop with ample parking and space for bikes always,The farm shop is well stocked and well worth a visit. .- shop and cafe/tea shop and PYO -only seasonal opening times and hours, though open 7 days a week in season, the season starts late though -in line with 'pick your own 'seasons..
