We had a lovely meal at the Monmouth Ash recently, great food good amphitheatre and all the staff were so friendly. Myself and a friend are gluten free, they accommodated for this with plenty of choice. Definitely recommend it, we will be going back again.

We were totally ignored at the counter when checking in at least 6 people passed by without a word ,not a good welcome sadly the food wasn’t great at all we were a large party the focus is definitely on the carvery which I was told was ok ,but the children’s meals were awful the chicken nuggets were almost white didn’t even look like they’d seen a cooker the pizza was so tiny one little slice very poor my hunters chicken was only warm I couldn’t eat it I asked for it to be packed up for me to take home for the dog !! my daughter’s chicken burger was like a Iceland special can’t believe that every meal apart from the carvery’s were awful won’t ever set foot in there again terrible I gave a 2 because the young staff who served us were nice but a 0 otherwise if it wasn’t a celebration I would have definitely had a good moan but couldn’t spoil a birthday surprise 🥲🥲🥲

Having thought overnight about whether and what to write, I have concluded that I must say what needs to be said, though I’m sorry to be writing this. I’ve eaten here on several occasions as it’s handy for Westonbirt where regular 10k runs take place. I’ve always been pleased in the past. Not so last night. I had booked online in advance. I chose a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc which at £29.50 was reasonably priced for its quality. I recommended and chose the white onion & garlic soup which I’ve had before when it was delicious. Last night the soup arrived and it looked and tasted quite different. It was thin and an odd colour and tasted only of stock and potato starch - not a suggestion of either onion or garlic. For some reason it was garnished with pea shoots. I did not finish it. The accompanying bread was good but the butter was too hard to spread. As to main courses, I’m told the fish pie was good. I chose the steak and venison pie with veg. The veg, particularly the flavoursome carrots, were good, though even a large portion of new potatoes failed to fill the enormous plate. The pie filling was good but the pastry was poor: undercooked on the filling side and tough and resembling a biscuit on top. I did not complain at the time as I did not want to spoil an otherwise convivial evening with visiting friends. Two servings of crumble were ordered and I’m told were delicious as usual. Having said all this, I want to say that the service was exceptional as always: welcoming, friendly, prompt and helpful, despite the presence of a slightly rowdy group in the other bar, following a six nations match. This on its own will mean that I give The Rattlebone another chance.

Had a lovely meal in the henbury arms tonight. Food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. Dan at the bar served us quickly and served us with a friendly smile. George was very helpful in taking us through the menu options. Will definitely go again!

Sitting on the edge of Par (or really, Polmear) this charming pub offers a good selection of beers, and excellent value for money meals. It may not look like much from the outside, but it's a warm and welcoming pub with very friendly and professional staff. There's a large car park at the rear, with a public car park a bit further back towards Par beach. The pub itself has a large garden at the rear, with some covered seating areas and direct access from the car park. Inside the pub, you'll find lots of old pictures and memorabilia from the area, with a large aerial view of the town for you to work out where you are. We always call in during our stay at Par Sands, and have never been disappointed with the quality of service (or food). The Ship is a good finishing point after a walk along Par Sands (from the docks), or a good starting point for the coastal walk along the cliff to Polkerris Beach. We would thoroughly recommend The Ship to anyone visiting the area, it's a real gem of a place.

Great find, we were able to dine straight away, given it was lunchtime and a very busy place. Food came out quickly and our waitress was great. The only thing we found odd was the taste of Music, we listened to Elvis Presley for most of our visit! Wouldn’t stop our return, see you in May. John and Family

Stopped off by chance while cycling the Exe Estuary cycle path - what a great find. Warm and comfortable with lovely staff. Food was excellent - fish and chips (crispiest batter ever had) and a chefs special wild mushrooms with truffle and garlic - wow! Good coffee too! Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Lyme Regis and after having a little look around we were all getting a little hungry so we decided to stop off at Jane's Cafe on the parade. There were five of us and we all shared two boxes of cheesy chips together, I can't comment on the drinks that the others had but the cheesy chips were very nice. Good position sizes although could have been a little bigger but the chips were nice and there was plenty of grated cheese on top - I expect it would have been even better if it was melted slightly! There were plenty of places to sit and eat with nice views over the beach. The only negative comment from a family member was that the staff were a little slow serving the drinks but the food was ready pretty quickly and it was hot which was the main thing! A good little place to stop for a quick drink and something to eat.....
