Having gone to another pub for lunch only to be told they weren’t doing food which was not advised on their website we ended up here in desperation for a bite to eat which was another mistake as they were only doing Pizzas, Baguettes or Sandwiches. The outside was incredibly untidy, with a full ashtray sitting on a bench waiting to greet customers on their arrival. The inside very depressing although one bar with the inglenook very characterful. As with many pubs loud ‘disco’ music was blazing out around the bar. The barmaid perhaps was having a bad day as no smile or chat was forthcoming. We chose 6 baguettes as the ‘kitchen’ was about to close which was our 2nd mistake. 4 fish fingers which were cremated or precooked & re fried, the cheese & chutney banquette had no chutney & the prawn banquet was awash with a very runny Marie Rose sauce. All banquets were very small & anaemic. They arrived with a small pot of coleslaw & some deep fried vegetable peelings all pretty & no presentation & bland. We should have sent them all back but didn’t. We also ordered 4 bowls of skinny fries which were ok but for £4 a small bowl were a rip off as everything else was when we got the bill…over £120 including some drinks! The only good experience was the Jail Ale which was fine. Don’t like putting bad reviews against businesses but there again we don’t like being ripped off with indifferent service, disgusting food & excessive prices. If a pub has no chef for what ever reason which presumably was the scenario here then close the kitchen!

We were visiting Greeenways for the Agatha Christie festival and the Manor inn was the perfect base, we had a huge room, even with our dog cage set up and loads of storage space. The shower was hot and the bed was soft. The pub itself is very dog friendly, and the staff are great. The steak deal on a Friday and Saturday is unbeatable, two meals and a bottle of house wine for £35 . Its almost as cheap as eating at home. Several real ales and a whole shelf of local gins made for a very good night. The breakfast was excellent- fresh, hot and on a warmed plate just how I like it.

I would totally recommend staying here at the Manor Inn Pub Hotel Galmpton, Brixham, Devon in August 2024. Great value for money. We stayed here in August 2024 on holiday. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and kind to us when we arrived. The room was clean, modern and quiet, large Victorian twin room. It was nice to have a TV, coffee maker and kettle with loads of tea and also a minibar fridge available. Very clean bathroom and room. Dinner was fantastic, cooked really well and nicely done. Staff were excellent and really helpful. Food reasonably priced. The room was really quiet to sleep in. You were made to feel at home. The pub has great character to it and very homely. The breakfast was excellent full English breakfast included with your stay (again brilliant value for money). The kitchen staff were kind and excellent. The location was absolutely perfect, only 5-10 mins drive to Brixham and close to the main road to Exeter, but the pub is in a quiet area. Good access from rooms to car parking. Free car parking which is a bonus. I would also recommend visiting Brixham, what a lovely seaside town this area is. All in all, I would definitely and totally recommend staying here and visiting the Manor Inn Pub Hotel, Galmpton, Brixham, Devon. Will definitely be staying here again.

Booked for the 27th January as they had a Burns Night ! Booked over 4 weeks ago , told by staff that it was from 18.00 onwards so booked for 18.00 , arrived as booked and were shown into back half of restaurant where ALL the rest of the bookings were for 19.30 , bit odd but never mind ! We soon found out that , as we don't live in Galmpton , we live in Brixham , all the "Locals " had been seated in the main area and had the benefit of the piper and the address to the Haggis in there and every thing that goes with it , while we were left to rot in the back !!! Very Very disappointed as we have ALWAYS supported Christopher and Jonathan both at Galmpton AND when they had Churston Court Hotel !!! We WILL NOT be supporting them anymore as we feel we were treated as second class ! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

We love this pub. The waitresses are the sweetest in the world. Regular waitresses too. Half a dozen yrs ago the food was perfect. But, sad to report that it’s now gone down hill very recently. Had a burger there in August; sort of cheap burger you’d expect in a cheap cafe; mashed up protein. In September, went for a steak night on the stone; poor girls have to make two journeys rather than one. The weight. The steak was satisfactory but the chips, sides were a disgrace. A molded plastic tray - like school/hospital dinners. How I wish for simple, fresh food delivered to the table on a plate. I must repeat that the girls who serve are the finest!!!

We were regulars at the Manor Inn when we lived in the village somewhat 12 years ago and decided to take a trip down memory lane and do the pub quiz on a Thursday night and have dinner. The outside space they have created is really lovely to enjoy, and the inside hasn't change, however the food was unfortunately disappointing. The meal deal is really reasonable and we both opted for the steak which comes out on a hot stone/slate. I don’t understand this concept at all. Not only is it extremely hot with limited space around it, you are against the clock to get that steak either eaten at your preferred cooking time or cut it up quickly and pop it somewhere to eat at a enjoyable pace, however there isn’t much room left on the plate for anymore food with the chips and veg! I found it a very stressful experience!!! The desserts were ok. The quiz was fun though.

We had stayed local to the village for our holidays and we were in walking distance so popped in just for a drink lovely and friendly staff So we decided to book a meal for later in the week. When on arrival for meal we decided to have the special steak night two steaks bottle of wine £32 . Omg it was the best meal and very unusual meal I had ever had served on a hot stone so you finish your own steak to your own liking it was amazing. The staff were so lovely and it was our first experience of taking our little dog into a restaurant for a proper meal . Such a dog friendly pub . It was a lovely evening and a very busy restaurant.

We regularly look forward to a meal at the Manor. We especially like the burgers but last evening the burger was disgusting. Usually the meat is fresh and juicy but last nights was a processed burger that didn’t resemble any meat which came from an animal. So disappointed. Visited while staying in Torquay. Booked a table and we were placed in the restaurant area.. tucked away at the back. Being steak night we went for 2 hot rock steaks which were excellent. Took the wine home with us as I was driving and instead enjoyed a pint of jail ale, while my partner had a cider. Food was decent enough, although service was slow and any visit to the bar meant going all thr way around the outside due to the covid one way system. Very disappointed to find no dessert menu, with one un-appetising sounding dessert available. All in all an OK meal, but there are better places around the torbay area.

Have been on a few occasions before lockdown and wouldn’t recommend going on a Friday early evening due to the loud and foul mouthed tradesmen stood at the bar. We’ve been since and it’s a lot better not having to deal with the guys propping up the bar drinking Stella like it’s going out if fashion! A lot nicer experience, food was ok, staff a little slow and not very friendly but it was a pleasant enough evening. The outside seating looks better and hopefully the larger louts will stay away due to the restrictions and others don’t have to be subjected to rude and offensive conversations.

The Manor Inn is a great find. What sets the scene is the interior's charm. There is nothing pretentious here. The bar is well patronised by the Villager's themselves.Despite some recent reports, I could not find anything to grump about, and I am pretty parnicity when it comes to where I stay. The Bar Prices are most certainly not London rates, indeed they are similar to what I pay in North Lancashire, the Beer quality was excellent especially the Dartmoor Jail Ale.Food wise yes the menu was limited, but the quality and value was excellent, we ate the Special Menu on 2 nights - 2 Mains plus a bottle of wine for £25.00. And the Chips were home made and tasted great.Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order, Linda who looked after things was great, and a font of knowledge about the area. Indeed all the staff we met were on top form.Galmpton is a great location to get around from, ten mnute walk to the bus stop, and regular services to Paignton, Brixham, Torquay and Kingwear. My partner and I needed bed and breakfast at short notice and were lucky enough to meet one of the business partners at the Manor Inn, Galmpton. He listened to our story of having been let down (literally stranded 170 miles from home) by a holiday company and arranged dinner, bed and breakfast for us.The room was spacious, clean and in every way delightful. Coffee, tea and biscuits were brought for us. Dinner was delicious, cooked on "hot stone" with crispy chips. My partner had gammon & egg, I had a halloumi kebab - even the mushrooms had a lovely flavour. We shared a bottle of a very nice chardonnay and agreed it was excellent food at a very reasonable price.Breakfast was equally good. We had plenty of perfectly cooked food (full English for my partner, vegetarian for me) with mixed toast, tea & freshly brewed coffee. To cap it all, the lady who was looking after the kitchen even phoned around the locality to see if there were any holiday cottages that we could report back to our holiday company as available. The only reason we didn't stay at the Manor Inn for the rest of the week was because they were fully booked. We did finally rescue our holiday and now consider our overnight stay in Galmpton to be a very pleasant part of it.

Stayed here from 28th Aug to 30th Aug as everywhere else fully booked due to Bank Holiday. Was told they only had COSY room available which would have been fine but turns out to be an oversized cupboard. 1 bed, 2 tiny bedsides shelves and I cupboard. A mini fridge on top which was filthy inside. No tea and coffee facilities due to COVID apparently yet the room and especially the bathroom were disgusting. Bathroom shelf had remnants of previous occupier toothpaste, hairs in shower, mouldy grouting and some unknown black substance sprayed over shower unit, ( Hence why we chose not to use it. ) Dust on surfaces and grime around edges of carpets. Did not look like it had been cleaned at all especially deep cleaned as recommended due to to COVID. Considering we paid £210 for 2 nights, landlords should be ashamed of themselves.Pub itself looks tired and very neglected with mouldy looking walls in dining room, no attention to detail anywhere. Staff were pleasant and tried their hardest but the food was adequate at best (except for breakfast, which was served by a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us) and drinks were extortionate. £5 for a pint of Devon Rock...So sad for what could be a great little pub in a beautiful village.Unfortunately will not stay again and definitely will not recommend.

We have used this pub/restaurant several times before usually on the Thursday quiz night & for meeting friends who come to the village twice a year.We went for Sunday lunch today 30/08/2020 & were shocked at the overall presentation of the lunch & the over inflated extortionate price of the drinks,(drink prices have gone up to cover for COVID-19 according to the waitress)Sunday roast consisted of 2, yes 2 whole slices of thinly cut meat, lovely roast potatoes, nice Yorkshire puddings & good crackling with the pork. With it came a sparse serving of 3 vegetables for both of us to share in a dish hardly big enough for 1 person but again it might be the COVID effect!!!!Now at £9.95 per meal it was not too bad to be honest, except more content on the plate would have helped but the drinks to accompany the meal, what a real rip off.£4.40 for a pint of Proper Job. £5.00 for a pint of Aspalls cider. Was there a shortage of apples last year or is this again down to COVID19??Unless you are fairly affluent or come from London where prices are a lot higher please be aware the drink prices are unwarranted & smack of profiteering on the back of a world pandemic. Will we go back, yes on Thursdays for the quiz as & when it returns but will drink black currant & water instead.

All pubs opening post lockdown are dealing with difficult issues now, and the Manor has an impressive outdoor eating area newly constructed. We enjoyed our Sunday roast lunch here very much, and the staff are helpful and friendly. There are plenty of sanitizers available and we were asked to leave our contact details of course.

My husband and I stayed at the Manor Inn for one night. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, We enjoyed a lovely meal that evening in the restaurant, and in the morning we were treated to a superb full English breakfast. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. I thoroughly recommend it and hope to stay again soon.

Visited and ate here twice whilst camping locally. Friendly welcome on arrival and good table size for a group of 5. Decor in the dining room looks a bit tired, but adds to the country atmosphere of the place. Food is good quality, with a reasonable size menu that was changed on each visit. Portions are generous.

Just had a very pleasant lunch at the Manor Inn. Dropped in on the spur of the moment and chose the small scampi with chips. Portion size was perfect for a lunch and both the chips and scampi were very well cooked and a very reasonable price too. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend. Oh, and free WiFi too!

Sausage and mash -sausage deep fried, mash was mashed chips. The gravy was the worst school dinner gravy, set like jelly.Vegetarian option ( only one on menu) Hard pastry tart filled with 3 half mushrooms and some gelatinous red onion gravy.Staff pleasant but would not recommend for food at all.

The staff here are really lovely, the atmosphere is great, and it's a haven for dogs, who are made very welcome. So, if your looking for somewhere for a drink and the craic, it's a great choice. But sadly, the food is very disappointing. My partner had plaice cooked in breadcrumbs, which was grossly overcooked (deep fried) and hard, and with more breadcrumbs than fish, and very little taste. I had the steak and ale pie, well, actually a stew with some pastry shoved on top, some undercooked peas and some very ordinary chips. Edible but very ordinary and overpriced for what is was. Fix the food, and this place would be 5 star!!!

The food was substandard. The beef was not cooked properly and was tough. There were no apologies or anything offered as an apology. The dessert was supposed to be peach crumble no evidence of peach or sugar in the crumble. Very disappointed customer!

Went for a family meal, unfortunately the food was sub standard. The lamb was inedible, the salad was wilting and we couldn't leave quick enough. Was a shame as previously the food has been excellent.

We called in for lunch whilst on holiday in Devon. It is a really popular village inn serving a good selection of pub food plus a good selection of beers. The fish and chips we had was excellent as was the friendliness of the staff.

We booked our lunch at this local pub and left our cars in the spacious car park. We decided on our food choices before we began our walk around Galmpton and Greenway. We returned and found the table allocated for us and purchased our drinks. Our meals were a long time coming, even though there were not many people eating in the bar. Those who had ham, egg and chips were very disappointed with the chips, the person who had the pie enjoyed the pie but agreed that the chips were not very nice. I had a jacket potato which was ok but nothing outstanding. On the whole we would not bother to eat here again.

Despite giving a review it’s still not been listed, I wonder why? Stayed in room 3 which is far too small for a double. Layer of dust everywhere, urine stains around the toilet, no wardrobe just a large cupboard, tv bad signal so no use, bed and pillows stained, I could go on and on. The only plus was the cooked to order breakfast, howeve4 get there a5 8 if you don’t want to wait an age as 5 rooms seem to be too muc( work for one member if staff. Pub is bus6 with locals and lots of dogs inc dogs in restaurant at dinner and breakfast Not good! Pub is filthy, with dust everywhere and sticky threadbare carpets. If the front of house is in this state what’s behind the scenes?

The food is plain and simple. The fish and chips are good. We also had steaks. The rump was a bit tough. The rib eye was just right. The creamy garlic mash was neither. Peppercorn sauce was nice. Onion rings spot on. Proper job and jail ale were fine. Clear and clean. We stayed for 4 nights in a room above. It looked clean. It was more like a suite. Lovely big room. Plugs not in convenient places. Had to move a large chest of draws to plug in the hair dryer to use the mirror above. The bathroom was nice, but the sink was very shallow and the tap when it was on full splashed over the edge. Stupid design. Towels were small. Other than that an acceptable stay. We would stay here again, the rooms are a little pricey, but ours was fine for the size (room 5). The staff were all pleasant.

Great looking pub both inside and out. Asked for a menu only to be told most of the mains were not available. Ended up having the egg sausage and chips that was nothing to write home about. Seemed to be general lack of enthusiasm.

The Manor Inn is a lovely Olde World's pub with a lovely atmosphere. It's very popular with the locals and it's a big part of community events. Staff are always very pleasant too. We've had many meals there both in the day and evening, weekdays and weekends. Some things are lovely, while others a bit disappointing, I guess it's a matter of taste but overall not consistent.

I am sure once upon a time this was a good food pub, now it is very disappointing. Good beer, pleasant service but terrible food!! Don’t let’s the spoon and fork on the brown tourist signs pull you in off the road!!

The Manor is not a bad pub per se, but the majority of our visits are disappointing. As others have said, the food is a disappointment: the steaks are usually great but everything else is hit and miss. Vegetables are overcooked and bland, and the salads are dull and uninspired. Their yorkshire puddings are diaboical - a soggy, undercooked mass of dough! The food isn't really cheap enough to be that bad.
