We stopped here for dinner after a long drive from Kent. The outside was very pretty and the flowers looked lovely. Once inside, the place looked a bit dated, but there was a lovely fish tank, and spacious seating. Clean too. The staff were very friendly too. Toilets were very clean and modern, despite the rest of the decor. The food- well we were very pleasantly surprised! It was gorgeous! Pies and fish and chips, lovely puddings! Typical pub grub. It was great!

Really disappointed to turn up at this pub at 7:33pm on a Thursday to be told they stop serving at 7:30. When pubs are struggling to much nowadays how can they turn down the opportunity of a £120+ spend for 4 people, I guess the staff are not the owners. We chose this as someone we knew had been there a few years ago. Nothing on their website to say food stops at 7:30 and no provision to book a table on line either.

Good position and has plenty of parking. The pub could do with internal refurbishing. The food was only average. A cheap and cheerful pub not of high standard. It does not take advantage of its position at a major road junction

We arrived in the area for a weekend away, this was the first pub we found and we were far from disappointed. After just an hour we felt relaxed and at home. Friendly staff, friendly locals and lovely atmosphere. We missed last orders for tea but was recommended a fantastic takeaway that we got delivered and ate over another pint or 2! Definitely recommend a visit and will definitely be returning. Even the fish were friendly 🐠😁

Decidedly average. ‘Legendary burgers’ (as described on the menu), they were not. Having given the temperatures for our meat the response from the staff was ‘we just cook it mate’. Arrived over cooked and dry. Chips overdue a oil change as very dark / Dry. Honestly wouldn’t bother if I were you and I certainly wouldn’t again!

Stopped on our way to Charmouth and hadn’t researched the pub beforehand so was slightly apprehensive. Very pleasantly surprised by the lovely welcome from the staff and very decent food. A few quibbles over the food, battered fish very heavy on the batter and prawns not properly cleaned before serving but very useful rest stop on the way to our holiday. Men’s toilets had some rather rude jokes which made us uncomfortable sending our child in there but I otherwise really can’t fault the place!

Visited a few times whilst on holiday as it was the nearest pub. Wasn't overly impressed by hospitality, tried to book a table with 3 days notice for food and were told to ask again tomorrow as to whether they could accommodate - they couldn't. It very much felt that because we weren't local to the area that we weren't welcome. Drinks.... particularly San Miguel was absolutely extortionate £7.20 a pint.... my eyes nearly fell out when I saw the price on the till! If it hadn't been such a walk to the next nearest pub in bad weather I wouldn't have bothered returning.

On arrival we were snapped at by a grumpy barman. “Dogs that side” we were told, I don’t have an issue of being told where to sit but first impressions count! The food was average, atmosphere was relaxed and local’s friendly. It was the trip to the men’s toilets that shocked me, I’m disgusted at what they perceive to be jokes in the wall. I don’t find jokes about innocent people killed in Ukraine funny.

Visited on a Sunday for a Sunday Roast. This was our second visit having previously visited a couple of years back and enjoyed the food. On this occasion the food was very good, the roasts were excellent with perfectly prepared vegetables. One of our party had fish & chips which was well cooked and nicely presented. The chicken, bacon & leek pie was also very tasty and well cooked. This was topped of by the super friendly staff. Sadly there was a downside. The price of the drinks were excessive in the extreme. £6.40 for a pint of San Miguel and £5.20 for a pint of Orchard Gold cider, £1 for a glass of flat soda water. Now there may be an argument for increasing prices to claw back lost revenue due to COVID 19 but the addition of a £5.20 service charge somewhat negates this and whilst it may have been advertised somewhere it certainly was not clear as we were unaware that this charge was being applied until the bill arrived. The pub also needs to comply better with current COVID rules, staff were not wearing face coverings and there were tables where more than 6 were gathered. Overall whilst the food and service was very good the excessive cost of drinks, addition of a service charge and failure to comply with COVID rules was enough for us to consider not returning.

We stopped here for a meal while on holiday. There was a Test and Trace QR at the door and sanitiser available. Menus were laminated. We both had a Sunday roast dinner, my friend had chicken while I had nut roast. The food was fresh, hot and reasonably priced. Similarly the deserts, bread pudding with custard and Dorset apple cake with ice cream. There was one major fly in the ointment, not one single member of staff, bar or kitchen, wore a mask. I thought this was mandatory. I actually heard one staff member telling a customer that the boss who was seated at a table near the bar was coughing because he had COPD. However he didn't deem it necessary to wear a mask!!!!!Food good, price reasonable, meeting of COVID 19 standards poor.

On seeing the very large poster along the fence to the pub stating food served until 9pm we got a taxi to the inn for some dinner, only to be told they were not serving dinner that night due to a function, I pointed out that they still had their sign out stating food is being served, the bar lady didn't seem too concerned at our dismay, so we told her to not bother with the drinks we had ordered and walked out, I won't be using this place again

We visited the crown on a late Saturday lunch time so were pleasantly surprised to be served food. We ordered a chicken fillet burger and asked for a spicy sauce with it. The land lady really went out of her way to find the right sauce. We also ordered a ploughman’s and to be honest it’s the kind of ploughman’s you dream of. Probably the best I’ve ever had. The pub was spotlessly clean and the bar staff lovely and friendly. Will definitely be back before the end of our holiday x

we arrived for sunday lunch at 12.00 pm after been told when we phoned they did not take bookings. most of the tables were reserved. staff did not know if there were any tables free. dogs and children were put in areas where they should not go usually and tables were pushed together. not a relaxing place to eat.

We visited to see a band on Sunday evening. Band "guilty pleasures" excellent. Bar staff service Excellent. Price of drinks "incredible". I had a pint of Peroni £6!!! Now this might have been a special price to pay for the band if it wasnt ....then we will certainly not be back You pay less than this in London! We checked the price with the young lady behind the bar... We also noticed that there was no price list displayed (a legal requirement??) If the price of the drinks were inflated to pay for the band then a notice in the entrance explaing this would be sensibleas it allows the client to decide on entry or not

We stopped here for lunch on our way home from Devon & all of us enjoyed our food, we only had baguettes, but they were fresh & enjoyable. Staff were very polite & helpful & there was a good choice of local real ales available too. Was only a short stop, but would happily pop in again if we were in the area.

We are there the evening of the Champions League semifinals while staying nearby. There was a good football atmosphere. I had the spinach and ricotta cannelloni while my wife had a burger. The food was tasty, staff were helpful and there was a good selection of beers from the nearby brewery.

Really lovely food and pleasant staff. A 'footie' pub so you may not like if you're not a fan but all in all a nice place to eat.

Visited for our evening meal . The pub itself is immaculate and the toilets the cleanest and nicest ever been to. The land lady didn’t stop polishing glasses, cleaning tables and working the pub is an absolute credit to her. We had the steak and ale pie, all day breakfast and crown burger. All were piping hot, presentation was lovely and tasted delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone wanted a pub meal .

Large chip portions are large ! Cash only. Curry sauce was slightly thin perhaps compared to Northern chippies. Prices are ok for a touristy town

Visited the Fun Factory on a rainy day with my baby. To book in, other children in the waiting area were running into his pram. The gates were hard to open. Upon arrival, we were told, that the only available tables were upstairs and there was no lift! I had to carry the baby and pram up the stairs. Walking through the downstairs department was like trying to run through a jungle. We finally got to our table which was covered in what looked like chewed food and saliva and all over the chairs too. I am aware that soft play areas are noisy but this was more than that. I took the baby down to play in the under 3's section which was a tiny cage. There weren't many activities for him to play with. The baby mirror in there was dirty, the ball pit was over crowded. To get on the slide, it was a climb and with a baby, it proves impossible. Older children were coming in the baby section and scaring him and leaving the gate open which I was furious about. The sensory toys were broken. A 7 year old girl was in there throwing balls at him too and I had a go at her mum and told them to get out. I told a member of staff and they did nothing about it. He also had some lunch there which looked cheap and processed. You could literally see the fat dripping off it. You are apparently allowed to take the babies in the older children's play area but I was straight away put off when i saw the filth on some of the children's socks and the rate they were running around! In order to make this a better place you really need to add a lift, make a better play area for babies, get friendlier and more helpful staff, healthier food, clean the place and maybe even give it a revamp, buy more toys for the baby area and in general make it more appealing. Until Fun Factory up their game, I'm certainly not going back. Unless you want your babies to have a day of being in the worst play area of all time, don't come here!

Was all set to enjoy a coffee in my favourite Costa ( see review Jan 23 ) when I witnessed the best example of managerial skill I have ever seen . I imagine that the customer in question may have underlying social problems . He was unbelievable rude - over a cookie . The abuse that staff were subjected to because they had unfortunately sold out was totally disproportionate. Sir , get a life . Staff , well done for the calm and professional way you handled an extremely unpleasant situation !

I Had a family evening with cocktails to start, unfortunately they had not a clue how to serve or make these,by a friendly young girl, the food was the worst i have had for a long time, and although i told the elderly lady she seemed to listen but shrug it off with no effect, totally overpriced for what we had ,very small meals, missing the main ingredient FOOD.I hope they can improve and get a barman in to make the cocktails, they need to be shaken, not just pored!!

Stopped for a quick lunch while walking the dog today. I was served by a lovely young chap who was smiley and very helpful. He even offered to carry my tray outside as I had the dog with me. I chose a delicious cranberry and brie toastie. It was served piping hot and was PERFECT! I sat outside in the sunshine looking across the woods. Great value and can totally recommend this special place.
