The 3 July was their last night in Beefeater as we know it. I’ve been a fan of Beefeater for 50 years from child to adult and its phasing out is rather sad. We came 9 days ago for a birthday meal that was great and tonight I came to say goodbye to staff. Great food and service under conditions which Whitbread PLC should be wincing at. Staff numbers and menu run to minimum only to replace by a poor stable mate in the future, I assume for residents only. Wish them all well and the duty manager on my last two visits was really great - lovely character and hope she goes on to excel in hotel/hospitality/tourism and leisure. A great night for me - in the end of what’s left of Beefeater Grandstand.

Been here several times this year to both eat and drink. I previously gave this pub a very mediocre review based on a single visit but have changed my mind completely. The food has been great every time. The hash browns, tomato, avocado and poached egg dish has been stolen and is now a firm favourite at home. The Butcombe beers are really good. I particularly like the Tall Tails IPA. And the staff behind the bar are chatty, friendly and a good laugh - this place is what a pub should be.

In short, a lovely pub let down by poor service and food. Visited 1pm on a Tuesday. Service was very poor, we had to tell the servers three times we were ready to order over a 15min period. When it came to paying the bill, it was the same, we had to keep asking. Servers were not busy, the place only had about 20 people in including our party, they were chatting to each other rather than looking after their customers. They left the card reader with us and never came back ... so we took our card and left. Food was mediocre at best. Two of our party had steaks, and both we overdone (my rare was medium/done). The cheesecake was the worst I've had, three of us couldn't eat it, taste and more so the texture were just off ... the base was fine. I've never left a poor review before, but this place, on that day, deserved it.

No wonder people are shopping online. The customer service here just hit rock bottom. They have done away with the row of friendly staff at the pay counter (men's dept) and replaced them with self service machines. The remaining over-stretched one or two staff have to handle returns as well take payments and help people having problems with the machines. The guy that served me was clearly not trained (not his fault). Please tell me how a machine can check if my shirt is 100% cotton, fold it nicely and put it in a bag? Please re-open the pay desk.

Having undergone refurbishment and under new management this Inn has become a great destination for good food and service. Having eaten here several times this was the first time we’d tried the Sunday lunch. It was excellent and the staff were lovely too, very friendly but not overly intrusive. Also dog friendly which also helps. Would highly recommend it. Plus as the weather improves, the excellent harbour side outdoor seating area is a real bonus.

We walked into the Jubilee Inn on a cold, foggy evening to find a happy buzz of friendly locals, a roaring fire, a great pint and generous plates of delicious homecooked pub grub from this humble village pub. Front of House welcome from Jackie was outstanding - in fact all the staff were super friendly. Do try Pete's Pie of the Day while you're there - (make sure you're hungry!) Well done Jubilee Inn - we wish you every success. Rosie & Jim, Sara, and the 2 sighthounds.
