This was our first visit on a Sunday, my wife wanted to try Sunday lunch. She was not disappointed, the roast beef was cooked to perfection and a splendid offering of fresh vegetables including a delicious cauliflower cheese. I choose the superb goats cheese and walnut salad (delicious) followed by Lasagne which was exceptional particularly the delicious cheese topping. We have become more frequent visitors of late, our food has always been excellent and varied, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the menu is varied creating a problem of, what to have next. A great choice of beers and drinks too.

Sadly underwhelmed for a birthday meal. Prawns in the starter were smothered in eggs and watery. We ordered the steak with salad and fries but after an hour wait were served the fillet of beef in sauce with vegetables. We were asked if we wanted it changed but didn't want to wait another hour. The server was unaware that there was even a steak on the menu. In fairness the bill was amended but it was not the meal we wanted and the evening was somewhat spoiled. We will not be returning sadly.

The menu is almost non existent… with a lot of the same things so there’s next to no variety. And even with that, there were things on the menu not in stock. The hot drinks were lukewarm at best, and the wait for food was ridiculous. Ordered in 2 separate orders in a group of 4 people. The second lot of food came out as the first two people were finished eating. And it was all lukewarm too. Mushrooms were forgotten on all 3 breakfasts, and when I questioned this, she didn’t seem shocked at all, laughed and returned minutes later with them on a plate. Also, and possibly the worse thing - every empty table we went to was filthy. On the table, the seats and the floor. So we had to make do with the best of a bad bunch, with nobody other than those behind the counter anywhere to be seen to ask to clean it for us… Very very disappointed. Will not be visiting again.

We have never been to Heavitree let alone heard of this pub!! People we met in Topsham said it was their local and that it was a super pub.....well, we have had an adventure and experienced it first hand. Probably not the best time at 3pm . It was quiet, it was a nice pint, the barman was very friendly but overall it is not our favourite pub. No doubt it gets busier and has a better atmosphere....Nice charity shops in the area though! We will be back to explore this new area more on a busy main artery into the city.....

We were looking forward to ‘Pie Night’ for a long time, since our friends had been previously. We were not disappointed! The pies were absolutely delicious - especially my fish pie. Out of this world good and hands down the BEST most scrumptious fish pie I’ve ever had. Extremely generous portions, hot veggies, yummy desserts and wonderful service. Really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to go back for more.

Had a lovely evening at this gorgeous pub set in a beautiful little village. It was so tastefully decorated for Christmas & we & our Whippet received a warm welcome from the Manager. Really friendly atmosphere & the food, drinks & service were all great. Wish this was our local - thoroughly recommend a visit. It really helped to make our weekend away special.

Been to Hughsies again for a few meals while on holiday in Seaton. Lovely breakfasts freshly cooked and good service. Lunches were a more difficult choice as there was a good selection and I know from experience that whatever we chose would be delicious. I have seen a number of negative comments on here but my husband and I have never had a problem. Nice clean cafe and good fresh cooked meals. We will be back again next year.
