The best restaurants serving British food in South West

My friends and I booked a table to celebrate Christmas this time in Frenchay. We were pleasantly surprised by the table decoration, including the Christmas crackers and the ambience! The food came on time and was well served by attentive people, which I appreciated. Nobody rushed us to leave and we had a beautiful time in the pub. Many thanks

Great place for really good food and drink.

Generous roast Sunday lunch which everyone enjoyed, but very intermittent service. After 20 minutes, we had to go to the hostess desk as the sparkling water we ordered as we sat down hadn't arrived, and nor had anyone to take our drinks or food orders. This resulted in our orders being taken, but after another 15 minutes, we had to ask again for the water and the drinks. We were at out table for over 30 mins before we all had something to drink. The food then arrived quickly, although one dessert was forgotten and had to be asked for. The food was all good, but let down by the service. When pubs ask to have the tables back for the next sitting, they need to make sure you are served so that you can eat and have coffee before having to leave.

We had 2 breakfasts but neither were very hot. It was busy and we never got checked on. When the food is not hot and the service not great it frustrates me as weve had some good meals here so maybe depends on whos in the kitchen that day.

Went there for an experience as supposed to be one of the best places in Bristol. Reality no innovation or new ideas just old 2010 menus. Under seasoned and boring. Obviously just living of old reputation.

One of the better Spoons I've been to. At least this one isn't full of scruffy alcoholics and druggies. I had a large breakfast prior to going to Swindon beer festival and it was huge, well cooked and tasty and if I recall, £5.99. The cask beer here has come on in leaps and bounds to the extent that it's in the current Good Beer Guide, most beers are £2.00 - £2.50 per pint and you can use your CAMRA vouchers to get 50p a pint off those prices. Usually 6 or 7 beers on. Toilets are clean and tidy.

I was in the area with 6 friends staying for a long weekend and we wanted to find somewhere that did roast dinners. We all had a carvery and it was beautiful everything was fresh and tasted incredible. The staff were so friendly would definitely recommend and we would definitely come back when in the area. Don't believe the good reviews on the food it was BAD and very expensive, go elsewhere there are better options locally in Boscastle

Had the roast pork Sunday dinner here today. All tasted good - my only complaint was the portion of pork was on the small side - two thin pieces of loin and that's your lot. Enjoyed overall but I'd expect a bit more for my money.

A lovely warm welcome at lunchtime from both the lovely young lady behind the bar and the dog! Delicious fish, chips and mushy peas with home made tartare sauce!

Only Bristol cathedral Canons manage such a welcome. It turns out that you should know you can only eat if you book in advance. Wonderful eh?

Horrible starter, prawns not cooked properly, too much lettuce and mayo, mediocre main course - mushroom wellington with only one slice of mushroom in it! The desert was very nice. Staff a bit prickly. No oat or soya milk, only cow's milk.

Came for lunch for a family members birthday. Walked from Durdle Door down to Lulworth Cove having booked 3 tables for the 16 of us. Food was delicious and staff very friendly. Would certainly return in the future.

We came in the Summer to have a ploughman's, and found it so good we came back for another one, on the last day of our holiday! After having stayed overnight in their accommodation, and consumed a delicious breakfast, I can't recommend it enough. The staff have always been friendly, amenable and accommodating. The room was clean and tidy. Finally, the view of St Catherine's Chapel was amazing.
